Fast and to the point, I'm well used to 3D blender but really didn't know how to work with 2D very well. I did not want to watch a 55 minute beginners tutorial, just how to get started on some stuff and this was PERFECT. Thank you Paul!
I did get a lot out of this, Paul. I must say the tutorials I've found on youtube for Blender have not been the greatest. And even this one was a little confusing until the end where you slowed down a little. But at the end, I think I was getting it.Thanks!

This is a great video, thanks so much for making this resource! I was wondering if you knew anything about changes to the fill tool from 3.3 to 3.5? I went from easily filling enclosed lines to constantly having problems. In 3.5 when I try and fill my line work I get the error "Unable to fill unclosed areas." I'll open the same project file in 3.3 and the fill works great. Has anyone else experienced this?

You are a GENIUS! i still think it"s crazy how it's impossible to fill a donut shape in grease pencil.
That's when the holdout material comes in really handy
@@PCaggegi yeah, but that's still way more than one step, compared to one click in photoshop or even ms paint.
@@borisangelis8093 finally, someone else who actually has common sense. I'm trying to move on from adobe flash and start using grease pencil for 2d animation, and its been absolutely infuriating so far. filling a donut shape is easy in flash. in grease pencil its a whole damn process. Why would I use this program if every little thing seems to take 10x longer to do than it does in flash?
@@wallswitheyesjr haha yeah i was also starting to feel like i am the only person to actually have this problem ... slowly gaslighting myself into believing that primitive shapes are the only thing i need is the best fix i have seen for this issue :/

Sorry,but, why when I do alt+click with the fill-tool, the view change (as expected) but I can not draw boundary line... (ok, this is a keymap question, but I wonder why you can that I do not) :-D Thank you Paul, your channel is just amazing. But I wonder...

Try using blender 3.1.2 or even 3.2

And I'm sure this is my fault, but for some reason, I cannot utilize this tip, at all.
I've tried every possible variation, for about an hour now.
I'm using Blender 2.93
An example of something else, that absolute never, ever works for me, is the boolean modifier.
99% of things are fine.. but for some reason, certain things never have worked for me.
I'm not sure what to do, re using the bucket fill tool.
I really need it, the alternative is extremely slow!
If anyone has any suggestions for me, I'd really appreciate it.

How do you enable the blur effect in the blending options?
What if I want to import a PNG into Blender, and want to color it in. Is that possible? I can't seem to color it in like in the file you have.

I grew up with it. :) I only ever played the NES metroid TBH but I love this Samus/Megaman mash up design.
