Hey there! Thank you for the info. I got a 2021 Jeep Willys 2-door. Should I use the premium gas? I have been. It might just be in my mind but I feel like it runs better with premium.
You almost found the fabled unicorn; a base Wrangler 2door with a manual transmission, without 20k worth of crap options dumped on it to increase dealer profits. Too bad it had the expensive automatic. But even as is, the vehicle in this video doesn’t exist in NY dealerships.
Love a jeep that's as base as it can be. I have a tj and it's utilitarian no frills stature is really what is its charm. The prices of these new jl's, (particularly '22,'23) are just getting ridiculously out of hand. And to add for the color of the paint (for some reason white adds nothing to the base cost) and a non painted black plastic grill is just really a heartburn giver when signing on the dotted line.
That’s what I want but with all terrain tires, v6 and manual transmission. I don’t even want that infotainment system. Just a radio with Bluetooth for my phone. If I leave the top down and it rains I want my major concern to be if I’m ok with my pants getting wet, not it the electronics are destroyed.
Is this a drinking game? Do we take a shot every time the word "base" is mentioned in the video or used in a comment? 😆 Stellantis has seen fit to use the word Sport to designate a distinct trim. You can do it too, Ben!
The Tacoma does NOT have a solid front axle. There are only 3 vehicles left you can buy with a solid front axle: the Wrangler/ Gladiator; the Ford Super Duty, and the RAM HD trucks.
Maybe you can help me clear up the grille mystery. This looks like the new 2024 grille that is only supposed to be available on the higher modes. When I configure a base model 2024 on the Jeep build site and opt for the black grille upgrade it just changes the grille color to black. On this video yours appears to have the new upgraded grille on this base model? Can you shed some light? Am I seeing it right?

There are reports of owners reaching 100K miles with few or especially no problems. Configuring one's Wrangler with that engine is a proven safe bet.

You almost found the fabled unicorn; a base Wrangler 2door with a manual transmission, without 20k worth of crap options dumped on it to increase dealer profits. Too bad it had the expensive automatic.
But even as is, the vehicle in this video doesn’t exist in NY dealerships.
Base has the V6 6spd still.
Neat Jeep. Warming up to new dash changes. Thanks for showing it.
If I had this Jeep I would just put some better tires on it but keep the rest base.
They selling them for $27,000 with a standard transmission in South Carolina
1:21 what do these numbers mean when he says them?
It’s the tire size
245 is the width 75 is sidewall 17 is the rim size
I like it! Something fun without all of the electronic nanny's!
It comes with the auto start/stop !😮
@@franko3227but you can turn it off!
Not the manual @@franko3227
Is this a drinking game? Do we take a shot every time the word "base" is mentioned in the video or used in a comment? 😆
Stellantis has seen fit to use the word Sport to designate a distinct trim. You can do it too, Ben!
Seems like good value, but have to wonder about the durability of such a high hp/liter engine.
The Tacoma does NOT have a solid front axle. There are only 3 vehicles left you can buy with a solid front axle: the Wrangler/ Gladiator; the Ford Super Duty, and the RAM HD trucks.
@@tylermacconnell217ty! If you want a SFA this is obvi the best bang for the buck.
So would this one not be a good daily driver?
I am confused about what trim packages get what grill. I have seen some base sports with the old grill, but this has the new grill.
optionnal
Satin black grille option gives you the 24 grille.
I would love that jeep without the turbo and as a manual
Did you say 20 in town and 21 on the highway?
Maybe you can help me clear up the grille mystery. This looks like the new 2024 grille that is only supposed to be available on the higher modes. When I configure a base model 2024 on the Jeep build site and opt for the black grille upgrade it just changes the grille color to black. On this video yours appears to have the new upgraded grille on this base model? Can you shed some light? Am I seeing it right?
optionnal
Ben, how did that Base get a darker grill? Is it an option, because on the Jeep website the Sport appears with a body colored grill. Any idea?
it's an option for the Sport and Sport S, it's on that sticker as Satin Black Grille by Mopar $325
Jeep wrangler sport base put big tires on it then it look good if have 33inches tires
37 is insane for this.
Cheap as in cheap, not cheap as in inexpensive
Please do a review bout the 2024 sahara base please
Nice review Ben-Any issues with the roll/sound bar and headroom? Do you mind sharing your height for a reference? Thank you!
It's funny that they gave it a push start button but without keyless entry and a keyfob that big it must be a hassle to get in the car.
It isn’t. I have one.
I wish it came with no screen like my 81 Jeep.
I bit pricey for no power windows or locks and 2024 insane I like the car but that part is crazy almost 40k for a 2 door not a hard top like bare bone
SUGGESTION: TAKE YOUR NEW STRAIGHT SIX MOTOR. CUT TWO CYLINDERS OFF. NOW YOU HAVE A FOUR CYLINDER. ADD A T5 MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THIS IS THE NEW BASE MOTOR AND TRANS FOR THE BASE JEEP WRANGLER.
BRING BACK THE ANTENNA PLEASE
I don’t more why anyone wood pay so 40k for a 1998 wrangler with a infotainment screen upgrade
The gas tank size for a Jeep is smaller than my Camaro
$30-$33k would make more sense for it. Screen’s too big/fancy for a base model 2 door. Just a basic radio would do.
You can easily get one for that price, get it in white (no charge) and 3.6L v6 with manual transmission. MSRP would be around $33,000
@@wranglerlife4ever42 my Ram 1500 quad cab in 2020 was $32k brand new with chrome bumpers, aluminum wheels, cloth interior, power windows, heated mirrors with a 5.7 hemi and red paint. The base manual 2 door Wrangler shouldn’t be anywhere near $33k.
@@vr4787
Price out a 2024 Ram 1500 and compare it to your 2020. Inflation
@@wranglerlife4ever42 Regardless of inflation that price is still too high for a stripped down 4x4. The cost doesn’t justify the value. You can’t even get the Willy’s Sport Model for 2024 anymore which was a good lower trim value.
How long will a high horsepower 2L turbo charged four cylinder engine last?
A long time apparently. Fewer issues with 2.0 than 3.6 too.
@@crispusattucks6094 A long time? You'd be lucky to get 80,000 miles.
@@jeffrey3498 not from everything I’ve seen. It’s turning out to be more reliable than the 3.6. I don’t think it’ll be a 4.0 killer by any means.
The Global Medium Engine (the official nomenclature of the Jeep's 2.0T engine) has been in production since 2016. It has since proven itself to be quite reliable. There are reports of owners reaching 100K miles with few or especially no problems. Configuring one's Wrangler with that engine is a proven safe bet.
😂👍@@thedailywin537
Hand crank windows in 2024 is CRAAAAAZY. This base model should not cost more than 20k
Well said, as usual!
Is $37,300 dirt cheap? Really?
So you need a key to unlock the door but not to start it 😂
Real nice!!
That engine cover says 3.6
Don’t they have a standard transmission anymore
Yes, he mentioned that
Dirt Cheap? Not when you add in the price gouged destination charge of nearly $1,800. The color choices suck too. Bring back Hella Yella and Gecko Green. Will stick with used and let someone else eat the destination charge and depreciation.
i bought this. the 24 base as it gets. but it came with giant rear view mirror shroud... should I have jeep remove it or is there more than just that box that needs changing?
Won’t be long and these will be sitting on lots with $5000 rebates.
Base is the only way to go, although I would do with the 3.6. Yes even the base is overpriced, but it's the closest to being like the way Jeeps always were. Not all the bullshit tech and features that will break down the road. I don't care how much many I make. Spending 60k on a Wrangler is stupid
recalled Jeep bursts into flames
Supposedly they fixed it?
Yea you set up an appt with the dealer and they fix it
I hate that stupid front grille now. What are they trying to do with this thing????
apparently you’re wrong out the gate since it’s not as base as it gets if it’s an automatic!
46 psi in the tires wth
SUGGESTION: MANUAL TRANSMISSION OPTION.
37 grand tho
roll up windows in 2023? damn
I never realized the base jeep key had literally no open/close/panic buttons
And prior to 2023, A/C was an option on a base wrangler. In 2023 they made it standard equip. The 2024 base still has manual windows, locks and mirrors….so you have to reach over to adjust passenger mirror
jeep must do the same with mirrors as they did for bronco. and 360-cam will become available for wrangler as well. i am so disappointed that on this refresh 2024 they did not do it,,.. why???? it was not hard thing to do at all.
Jeep Wrangler is not (sacrilege to follow) a Bronco. It is and always will be BETTER than that other vehicle no matter the trim. There's only and will only be one. Jeep.
@@attnielthomas7856 I agree jeep is a leader and jeep is the best and always was. am saying 360-cam is really great feature to have for any car. i hope we will see it on the wrangler soon.
Wow. That price is robbery.
“It feels really different.” That is because you are close to an original Jeep in that thing. Most of the older (or old soul) Jeepers would prefer this “base” model over a loaded unlimited any day of the week. It is so much better. Nice short wheel base and general size for actual utility off pavement. It actually looks like a Jeep! Those 31.5” tires are plenty large. Leave it just as is and marvel how you will never replaced parts like ball joints and such! Love it. Let’s just hope this is purchased by someone who understands that, so it doesn’t become another used car lot, 51,000 mile piece of sh*t “lifted” Wrangler on “Rockstar” aluminum wheels and “37s” with an “angry” grille. 😂
So the thing has push button start, but you still have to unlock the door manually with the physical key. What a stupid design, the whole point of push button start is to not have to worry about getting the key out.
37k for that many manual only adjustments? Jeez
38k and you get roll up windows Jesus Christ
At 30000 otb I'm a buyer.
Immediately close when see the price
21 mpg on the high way....
Its not the base model if it has automatic gearbox…
Alot less stuff that can break, the base price should be $25k
