I worked in Kent a few years ago, and grew to like the Kent countryside. Now I watch your videos of the South and realise there is a lot more lovely places in the South that are so nice !

Another great video (regardless of the trolls who seem to enjoy giving your videos a thumbs down). It was wonderful to see all of the people who recognized you! Nicely done, Richard What's-His-Name! :D

I’m so glad I found your programs as theve shown me just how much of the country around me I’ve missed. I was dumbfounded about the first war tank you found and that’s on my must visit soon as I’m sure the council will deem it a health and safety hazard as soon as they find it and will of course remove it. How do you find new places of interest to visit is it a pin and map or is it more sophisticated. Horsmonden is a nice area with old farms and buildings, my uncle farmed next to the church and I remember vast areas of hops which have now sadly vanished, the smell was heaven but now it’s a fishery which isn’t such a heavenly scent. I’m just back home for a couple of days and then back to the boat. You do a wonderful program and I’m so pleased you get noticed when out and about as that’s got to be a boost. 🛸

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. Sometimes it is a bit like a pin in the map to find places, but more often than not people approach me. Which is great. Take care and enjoy the countryside. :)

Great stuff. Wonderful history. Amazing explore. Write a book. I’ll buy it.
Here in Plainfield IN we don’t have these kinds of places. Why was the house razed? I enjoyed the historic photos. Thank you, Mr Vobes and friends. And Nathan and all the volunteers.

The lion's name is actually Coady, because the original statue was moulded in Coade Stone, Mrs Eleanor Coade's ingenious ceramic stone substitute.

Unexpected discoveries always add so much more to a walk. And I don't just mean meeting people who recognise you! That was exciting. Looking forward to the next instalment.

I wish Deepdene "Country Home" (sorry that still cracks me up) was still standing? Looked like incredible grounds. Any idea who the original family owners were? I loved Cody the Lion. I suppose he was supposed to majestic or ferocious - I just found him cute! I was getting a kick for you out of everytime you ran into someone, "I know you!" You're a celebrity around there Richard! Those Rhodies look about like ours here in OR too.☹ They're pretty, but sadly don't last too long. I hope you visit Norbury (sp?) Mannor while you are in the area. It looked incredible!
