The Quran cleans your heart and music leaves a dark dust it prevents you from praying to your creator.

You know listening to Quran isn’t easy . You don’t start to feel it just instantly like music. But when you have sincerely left music for the sake of Allah . Insha Allah brother you will feel the recitation of Quran so soothing and beautiful that you can’t imagine. And you will start humming the Quran instead of music . May Allah guide and help all of us

I’ve tried to stop listening to music for about 2 years now. But it’s hard when these short videos on social media have music in the background. But I try not to purposefully play music. Ever since I’ve done this, my prayer has been much more deeper and I have more emotion put into it alhamdulillah, so those who are struggling, just think about how much more your relationship with Allah swt can be strengthened through prayer without music in your head. Inshallah everybody fixes their bad habits :)

Whenever the topic of Bidah comes up, to counter the argument many come up with questions like:
"Did the Prophet ﷺ travel in a ship?
Did the Salaf travel in cars and planes?
Prove from the Sunnah that it is permissible to eat fried chicken?"
One has to understand that vehicles, planes and ships are used only as a means to reach the destination, they are not part of Ibaadah in themselves.
When we talk about Bidah, we are referring to innovations in the Deen only. We are not referring to innovations in Science and Technology.
Anyways, to get to the point, by the Will of Allaah, if the people would commit to memory these two principles, they would protect their Deen and save themselves from doubts and confusion.
    The First Principle:
In the matters of Ibaadah (Worship), everything is Haraam/not allowed unless proven from the Qur’aan and Sunnah.
And the evidence for this is the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: ❝whosoever does an action which we have not commanded then it will be rejected.❞
And also: ❝whosoever introduces into this religion of ours that which is not part of it then it must be rejected.❞
And there are many more Ahaadeeth.
    The Second Principle:
And in the matters of customs (food, clothing etc.), everything is allowed unless prohibited in the Qur’aan and Sunnah.
And the evidence for this is the saying of Allaah تعالى :
{Say: "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allaah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?"} [Surah al-A`raaf]
And Allaah is the One who Grants success.

Thank the universe for humanity creating beautiful music. Music is a big part of many people's lives and it is an enrichment of my soul. Posts like these only seem to be biased and one sided aimed at a very small part of music without the larger picture being looked into and it seems like all of music is on trial because of the few bad eggs. Music is part of being human and if you don't like it then I respect you for being yourself but I love music and I am at peace with myself so please treat my views with equal respect as it should be. Balance is about understanding and not shutting each other down.

Music was merely dusliked in our house, and not seen as haram. It's normal for my brothers and I to play music in our backyard or go out with earphones on. It's strange to think of families who don't let their kids listen to music at all even though that's probably better imo

Rest assured, Alhamdulillah.

I feel a disconnect when I read Qur'an because I don't understand what I am reading while I am reading it. I envy those that understand Arabic, it takes their recitation and understanding to another level. When i try to explain this to people, they don't just get it. I hear the lyrics of a song and immediately understand what it is I am singing. If it's another language, I have to like the beats or I turn it off.
My voice is melodious to me when I read the Qur'an, but that's it. I feel nothing cuz i av to check anither book to relate to what I am reading. I have studied Arabic since I was little but the language. Just. Doesn't. Stick.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, please read this comment! It will only bring you benefits.
    1. It was narrated that Abu Umaamah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.”
    2. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He who says, ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi‘ (Glory and praise be to Allah) one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the sea. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
    3. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet said:“There are two statements that are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and beloved to the Most Merciful: Subahana Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhana Allahi Al-`Azeem (Glory and praise be to Allah, Glorified is Allah, the Most Great.)” (Al-Bukhari)
    4. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet said: He who repeats after every prayer: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) thirty-three times, Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest) thirty-three times; and completes the hundred with: La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa `ala kulli shai’in qadir (There is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent)Will have all his sins pardoned even if they may be as large as the foam on the surface of the sea.” (Muslim)
    5. Zaid ibn Harithah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whosoever says: ‘Astaghfirullaha al-`Azeem al-ladhi la ilaha illa howa Al-Hayy al-Qayyum wa atubu illayh(I ask forgiveness of Allah, the Magnificent, than Whom there is no deity, the Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance,) his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah, which is a grave sin in Islam). (Abu Dawud and authenticated by Al-Albani)
    6. The Prophet peace be upon him said "Whosoever recites Durood Sharief on me 10 times in the morning and evening, I will intercede for him on the day of Qiyamah." (TIBRANI)
    7. Whoever reads Surah Ikhlas ten times, Allah will build a palace for him in Paradise. ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed, “If that’s the case, then we will increase in our palaces!” The Prophet ﷺ (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) responded, “Allah is better and greater (in reward).” [Ahmad]
    8. Whoever reads Surat al-Kahf on Friday, it will act as a light/protection for him from one Friday to the next. [Bayhaqi]
    9. Whoever performs their ablution carefully and then affirms (their faith by testifying): “Ash-hadu an laa ilaha il Allah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa ashadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluhu; Allahumma-ja’lni min at-tawaabeen waj-a’lni min al-mutatahireen”: ‘I testify that there is no true deity except Allah Alone, Who has no partners, and that Muhammad ﷺ is His slave and Messenger; O Allah, make me from those who repent and purify themselves’ - the eight gates of Jannah are opened for him so he may enter through whichever of these gates he desires.[Tirmidhi]
    10. Whoever says: “Radheetu billahi Rabba, wa bil Islaami Deena, wa bi Muhammad Nabiyya” - ‘I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, and with Islam as my Religion, and with Muhammad as my Prophet,’ Paradise would be (made) mandatory for him. [Abu Dawud]
    11. Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times (Allahumma inni as’aluk al-Jannah), then Paradise will say: “O Allah! Enter him into Paradise!” And whoever seeks protection with Allah from the Fire three times (Allahumma ajirni min an-Nar), the Fire will say: “O Allah! Protect him from the Fire!” [Tirmidhi]
    12. Whoever is easy-going, gentle and kind, Allah will make the fire forbidden for him. [Hakim]
    13. In Paradise there are rooms whose outside can be seen from the inside and the inside can be seen from the outside. Allah has prepared them for those who feed the poor, who are gentle in speech, who fast regularly and who pray at night when (other) people are asleep. [Ahmad]
    14. Narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “There is a soorah of the Qur’an, with thirty verses, that interceded for a man until he was forgiven; it is ‘Soorah Tabaarak Alladhi bi yadihi’l-mulk (Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion)’ [al-Mulk 67:1].”
    15. Say this 3 times for 6 hours worth of reward: Subhan-Allah Wa bihamdihi, ‘adada khalqihi, wa rida-a nafsihi, wa zenatee ‘arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi(Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure by weight of his throne, equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise).” (Muslim)

I listen to the Quran and recite it on daily basis it truly heals you and gives inner peace but music has also helped and saved me in various areas of my life I’m trying to listen to music less and less recently also please Allah for the most of it but music truly gets my mind off of my struggles and reminds me that there are others out there in the same position as me also struggling and sharing their pain through lyrics I’m not talking abt particular music genres but music does unite us as humans.

I grew up listening MTV, but after learning the Quran deeper, all of the entertainment things are meaningless for me. Either music or fictional movies won't be able to give solutions, spirit, and essence in my life. Every time i watch fictional movie or listen music now, i get bored easily. Whereas, the Quran stories are amazing, they lit me up everytime i feel low... I understand now why the Quran is the miracle

1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168]
2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme)
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67]
    3. La Hawla wa la Quwatta illa Billah (There is no Might or Power except with Allah)
    [the above is] a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Fath al-Bari #11:213]

I don't find instrumental music to be Haram, they help me survive life even though Quran is the most important. The only kind of music that I do find Haram are rap music and vocal music that talks about Haram stuff.

i listen to music and read Quran and pray 5 times Alhamdulillah, we needed to exit from the institutionalized Islamic clubs and understand music is nothing but vibrations that as got healing power, listen to pleasant music and enjoy your time while you workout, especially lifting weights in the gym :) if you are doing cardio exercises like light intensity training , listen to quran or any speeches of scholars or again listen to some nice music to destress ...
its all about balance guys ... if you swing too much on to one side , eventually it will crash,, so learn to know your limits, this is how we needed to get matured in this current world .

Brother like the Sheikh said, its effects on us are harmful, whereby it literally is played every time we want to do something good. I can confirm that, for I myself used to listen to calm music, and thought that it is totally permissible, but then I read that it is forbidden. I didn´t know the reason, and it seemed non sense to me at first, but subhanallah Allah showed me truly its effects on me. I was never really concentrating in prayers nor while reading the Quran because music was always being played in my mind. Now the feeling and the relaxation I get while praying and reading Quran is indescribable and definitely unbeatable. It has caused me to pray more and read Quran more often. May Allah guide us all.

@@tarekrashidi86 well , you might be right as it depends on the circumstances of each individual's life, for me, I can totally hang out with any Islamic circle everyday ,whole day and still listen to music and workout at my leisure hour . i learned that the whole point of being a Muslim is to experience the blessings
