Nice summary. Just a correction: The Asahiflex of 1952 had interchangeable lenses, not fixed as mentioned @5:30. Also, the first non-commercial digital camera was created in the '70s by a Kodak engineer. An important milestone in camera history was the creation of film as a medium, helping to make photography more accessible to the masses.

As for digital, that's not entirely true.
The first digital camera was the Sony Mavica in 1981.
The first digital that was for sale was the Canon RC-701 in 1986.

There is an 1853 photo of the Boston Society for Medical Improvement. I'm trying to figure out if it would have been a Daguerreotype or an early photograph. I'm thinking Daguerreotype, since this video said they were not replaced by emulsion plate photography until the late 1850s. Does anyone know if this is correct?
