The sense of dread has not shifted one iota. #ChallengerChild. Note to Musk, my sister is going to take helicopter flying lessons too. No bottle of coke will be out of reach now!

Correction: At the 2:00 minute mark, Raja Chari attributes the instantaneous launch window to immediate propellant boil-off. That's incorrect. Falcon 9 uses super-chilled liquid oxygen (for the extra performance). In a way, it has the opposite problem of "instant boiloff" - it WARMS UP and doesn't boil off and remains in the tank, but it's now warmer than they want it. Other rockets load liquid oxygen at close to its boiling point, so as the rocket sits on the pad, it continually boils off, and the pipes continually replenish ("top off") the lost oxygen, so in principle the rocket can sit there indefinitely. SpaceX doesn't have this option. You can't replace "lost" (boiled off) oxygen if it hasn't actually been lost.

SpaceX’s rocket. Elon may be the CEO, but there’s a lot more to SpaceX than just him-thankfully, given how his unhinged behaviour has been becoming increasingly obvious lately. He’s a jerk and a conspiracy theorist, but SpaceX continues to do good work.

Why? It's the most successful rocket of all time.
