Oh - one trick to "empty out" the waterfalls (or any other location) during the day is pop on your strongest ND filter you have, put the cam on a tripod and shoot a long exposure. I needed a street emptied for a shot in Austin but there were 100s of people walking over the bridge. I took a longex (1.5 minutes I think ) and they were gone. I had to do it a few times because there's always that ONE person that's standing there motionless like a psychopath - lol. I was like "really dude --- who stands still for 2 minutes for no reason?" Haha.
Never knew you were so close by. I happen to live in Raleigh, NC. You should check out Black Mt in Brevard. Looking Glass Falls and the Black Balsam Trail is sick during the fall.

I have a satellite Garmin GPS. You plug it into the cigarette litter. No internet is needed. But you need to set it up on the computer first. Download the US map for all 48 or 50 states. Then that GPS is tied to that computer when you need to do updates. But after that you don't need internet. If you use another computer later you will have to install the maps again and then that computer is tied to the Garmin GPS. As a wedding photographer the Garmin GPS is really handy because sometimes I go to weddings way out into the country and there is no cell service so no internet service.

Not sure why she didn't mention the name of where she stayed, but it's Half Mile Farm, the sister property of Old Edwards Inn. OEI gets all the attention, but Half Mile is much, much better, IMO.
What is it with Sony shooters and shooting using the rear screen when they’re not in a position that requires it? They’re the only ones I see doing it. It’s biomechanically unstable and just plain weird.
No idea. Personally I just go out and have fun with my camera. Thinking negatively about what others are doing tends to ruin my experience and takes aways from the fun. Hope you can figure it out and move and have more smiles on your face. :)
