    SMALL CORRECTION:
    at 5:48 when I am talking about minor equivalents, the text should say "a minor" instead of "c minor". Also at 6:18 it should say "e minor" instead of "g minor".
    The minor equivalent of C major is A minor. The minor equivalent of G major is E minor.

    Tim, Your tips are so clear and easy to follow. Tips like these do save us time to learn playing piano. I've seen great tips like yours on RUclips about music theory, all centered around the circle of fifths. Thought you might have great tips on the circle of fifths as well. Thanks

    I've followed so many of your videos that I knew this. But the title intrigued me and I'm warching out of curiosity. I am impressed. Very impressed. You had a good teacher, and I'm sure he's appreciating his student.
    BTW what is his name? He gave a concert highlighting Black composers and I'd like to watch again.

      If you want to be able to easily control the volume of the notes, then a (good quality) weighted keyboard is what you want.
      If you don't care so much for having a lot of dynamic control, then an unweighted keyboard will do just fine, you can still get some volume control if it's also touch-sensitive, just not a whole lot.

    Cb is B, which sounds weird to me. Why don't we call it B major scale?

    • @Persun_McPersonson
      @Persun_McPersonson 4 месяца назад

      It usually is B major. C♭ major is a relic from a time before twelve-tone equal temperament, the tuning system we all use today. Before 12-TET was the standard, B and C♭ were actually slightly different, which gave each of them a different character.

    Music, Math, Science, and legal profession all share in setting the importance of precedence. Somehow everything we know as right is set in precedence. But like everything that can be complicated, should we learn it to achieve our goals. It depends on your goals. No point learning geography for instance if you have no plans of ever leaving home. Maybe I'm wrong in this thinking that I want to save my ram for the good stuff. God only knows how much ram I have left. So instead of learning piano science, I want to learn songs, specifically classical music master pieces. Unfortunately two things happened. One, someone made a rule that a song can not be a masterpiece without being ridiculous difficult to play. Two, I discovered Liszt perfected that rule. So that you can benefit from my trials and tribulation, do not ever play Liszt, unless you enjoy frustration, misery, and self inflicted pain. On a serious note, hear what your piano teacher tells you, but listen to piano composers who have said you have to allow yourself to break from conformity to discover things we have not learned yet. Chopin said it, Liszt said it and many other greats have made similar comments. Success breeds success.

    Don’t cater to this idea of learning fast. Obviously nobody wants to waste time but being a musician is a lifelong endeavor. I know you need viewers………your lessons seem valid no offense intended.
