FYI, there is no 'vote kick' in League. What's happening is players are banning the character in the pregame 'pick/ban' phase so the character and therefore the $500 skin can't be played at all.

God, I can't imagine a version of League with vote kick. 4v5 is really hard to pull off in the game since it's essentially also giving extra resources to the enemy, you'd probably just surrender right after anyway.

A lot of companies are changing to UE5 for no publicly stated reason. Epic must have sent everybody an email about something. EoL support costs or licensing maybe?

@@duckrutt UE4 stopped getting real updates in 2022, so presumably UE4 support contracts have either ended or gotten way more expensive. (And find an actual bug preventing you from getting work done? Tough, and/or that'll be megabucks to solve.)
Everspace 2 also swapped from UE4 to UE5 (well after launch!) - not to use any of its new features, just to ensure maintainability going forward.

I get why Bungie did what they did. Having worked IT Service Desk for NINETEEN YEARS (before switching departments. Thank you, I got better and the night tremors aren't that bad anymore.), error codes were always contentious thing to ask someone to read off a screen. Assigning a single word to the error code for the public facing portion and having a lookup table on the back end really does make sense... and a whole lot of arugula memes. After all, what's easier for you to remember, that your error code is some sort of fuzzy feline or a seemingly random 26 character alphanumeric code. (And god help us if the error code is case sensitive.)

It's not either or, you can do a combo so either works to check it. One issue with error codes being regular words is searching for them - unless you make the error code really unusual the search results for a specific error code can pull in things unrelated to error codes at all. And words that are language or alphabet specific become gibberish outside the language.
No. No dev could be crazy enough to make error codes case sensitive, surely?
True facts wish Gamestop had adopted something similar with consols. You search PS3 in the system and you'll get outmoded models we don't carry, special editions that were only sold once, and accessories for the PS3 before your search turns up ACTUAL PS3s that store has in stock. If all consoles were cats and I could look up CAT-PS3 to JUST get the systems, that woulda made my job less torture x.x

Apparently the Like a Dragon/Yakuza show is only going to be six episodes (or at least the first season is that long). So I feel like we're not going to have a lot of screen time dedicated to slot car racing, managing a hostess club, or running a traditional Japanese snacks store. Maybe we'll get to see some of the side stories, like helping Japanese Doc Brown with whatever invention he's made, or escorting a man covered in bubbles to a clothing store.
The move from UE4 to UE5 has probably to do with support for UE4 ending and most resources being shifted to UE5. Since all games are a service now they have to plan for a lifecycle.

The Persona 4 anime dedicated 2 episodes on Nanako trying to figure out what her Big Bro has been up to. Turns out he's doing many of the side quests from the game. If the Yakuza TV was going to have more than 6 episodes, I could see them doing something similar.
Did that lead to the scene where Nanako called the protagonist a man whore? Because if so, Haruka would probably drop that bomb on Kiryu unprompted.

The second my friend heard about the Amazon "Like a Dragon" show, he lamented "WHY MUST AMAZON RUIN EVERYTHING I LIKE?!" He hasn't gotten over the Wheel of Time fiasco yet.
I actually quite like the Wheel of Time show. It changes and skips a lot of stuff from the books, of course, but that's inevitable, and not inherently a bad thing.
@@Mirality I wouldn't know. Wheel of Time is one of the book series I heard I should read, but haven't gotten around to it. I just like messing with him because Harry Potter wasn't completely accurate to the books either but I got over it because of the nature of movies.

Just an FYI, the name of the Yakuza series in Japanese is Ryū ga Gotoku, which translates to “Like a Dragon”, the show is based on the first game in the series.
What’s confusing for us in the west is that the first game to be released under the “Like a Dragon” name here is actually the seventh mainline game released under the “Like a Dragon” name in Japan

I remember when Mechwarrior Online introduced the Clan mechs, a bunch of the packages you could buy into had Golden Mech skins.. at $500.. which was also considered ridiculous, and at least from what I remember (it's been a while), they mostly tended to become beacons that drew enemy fire anyway.

AND, there's a term for when this happens in language: "doublets." Other examples of this include "pyre" and "fire", "pawn" and "peon", and "care" and "charity". And that's just pairs that have obviously related or similar meanings.

QUESTION: Whose job is it to print and mail/email the related UK and/or Ireland tax forms for these virtual Ikea workers in Roblox? Is it Ikea or Roblox? And are they withholding all the relevant withholdings? Look, I don't know at this point. I don't live in either Ireland or the UK, so I don't know what they expect from workers in those areas. I'm basing it on the savaging my own paycheck in the US gets and assuming most countries have similar schem-ahem! Policies as the US. What I'm getting at, who's responsibility is it to make sure the government gets their fair share, because you know these kids are just going to spend that extra cash on gummy bears and smarties. And we don't want the taxman to cometh for Little Debby and Timmy.
Child Labor laws also factor in. Imagine Roblox getting its largest fine thus far because it let kids work 10+ hours a day or after a certain time of night...

I like how initially they streamed the show than had ~2hrs of chillpoint. Then they spun chillpoint out, but still had a min or two of aftershow bloopers n such. Now the aftershow has grown to be longer than the show (NOT complaining by any means). When is the aftershow gonna spin off lol.

From what I've seen and heard of Multiversus it seems like a bit of a mess. The game looks like somebody forgot the playback at 0.5x speed, there are at least a few infinites (Iron giant grab > taunt and some Lebron ball stuff.) and apparently they removed training mode functions so you can not even lab stuff. *I do not play platform fighters. This is what I gathered from chats from people who played the previous and the current version.*
So okay, here's my MultiVersus take: I put in for the best founder's pack. I thought this would be the new Smash, but for all my beloved Cartoon Network and DC characters. I was well aware that the Open Beta was not like how most of AAA treats "Early Access" the past decade, and the shutdown did not surprise me.
The state of the game when it came back from the hiatus, however, was a massive letdown. The game is not more janky, and in fact gameplay controls a fair bet better IMO. But why on earth they opted for the types of changes they made is beyond me. There's UI cruft that tries to emulate Marvel SNAP, but it's bad and not polished. There's LOTS more single player content now, which I like! But it's ... not that great. It's akin to maybe "Classic" mode from Smash Melee. Just stage after stage of NPC fights, with a few bonus games in the midst.
IF they had made that content unlock the multiplayer character roster, or most of it (gotta have buyables, or WB might shit a brick) I think it would be fine. But they ALSO also kept in the whole locked roster rotating League situation. So.... I can only play who I bought in the beta. I still have scads of character unlock coupons because I assumed this game would have a long life and I'd be able to pick and choose any DLC characters I liked as they came out.
But, uh, I hate to say it but if MultiVersus makes it to Christmas I'll be utterly shocked.

I was late to the party and can say... it doesn't have a story, it has a jumble of pages of narrative in no particular order to make it appear like it has a meaningful story. I love seeing cutscenes for characters dramatically dying which I've never seen before because they were introduced two years before but that game content was pulled six months before I started playing.
