Welcome back! If you're making another episode of this, here's some suggestions: Billie Jean (intro) In the bad and Dangerous tours, Michael puts on the fedora as soon the bass starts, but in the HIStory and Victory Tour, he puts it on as soon as the drums start playing. Billie Jean (breakdown) Michael starts dancing after the 4 drum beats in the Victory and Bad tours, but dangerous tour onwards he waits another bar (idk how beats work lol) Also every performance after 1995 has the "ch k ch" sample from WYWTOM. If you see this, thank you.
These vids are really good man! I like MJ content that is accurate and factual and focuses on his musical and live work rather than his personal troubles.
Great series! Quite shocked that in this series you haven't covered Thriller, but maybe it is part of your future plans. Bad - on the first leg, he performed the song in -1 key, and in the last chorus he still sings "there ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes". He wore a simple light-up jacket made by Bill Whitten, and in some concerts it's seen being tested at the beginning of the song. On the second leg, he performed it in -2 key, this time knowing all the right lyrics. The werecat is introduced to the live stage for the first time, and as Michael takes the mask off at the start of the song, he remains wearing the varsity jacket in the first half, and a new jacket made by Tompkins & Bush was introduced in the second half. Dangerous - Since this tour theyve now gone back to the original key and used playback. The werecat appears after the zombie dance, amd the song has also been significantly lengthened, ending with a disappearing act. Here "Michael" comes into a transparent coffin, while the zombies drape it in cloth. At the very end, they pull it off to reveal that the coffin and its content has disappeared. In some concerts, the timing is rather messy and he can be seen jumping off the stage at the last moment. This is also the last tour that has the door slamming sound effect ("You hear the door slam"). HIStory - A more elaborate "torture device" setup is used. "Michael" gets inside the coffin, which is covered in flammable material. The zombies wait for a couple seconds for him to secretly get out (you can see him escape in some concerts), before they pierce a set of spikes through the coffin. They set it ablaze, and reveal that "Michael" has disappeared. In Dangerous and HIStory, the real Michael leaves the stage after doing the zombie dance. The transformation to the werecat is a rather clever way to disguise the fact that it's already a stunt double taking over the stage.
