@ree That's terrible to hear. Out of curiosity, where do you think that comes from? Do you think most of the stories have male perpetrators? I was just in a conversation with a 20 year old Australian guy who says that the suppression of women's sexual expression (particularly via clothing) is based on a male preference, and that men don't want women to be sexual. I disagreed, saying first that men prefer female sexual expression (e.g. invention of the bra and high heel), and secondly citing this study by a pair of female researchers about women-on-women sexual suppression ( pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21932332/ ), indicating there was a game theory element to a status quo that is based on a female preference. The Australian said that wasn't his experience and it wasn't the experience that women related to him, that women say they feel most constricted by the male preference to not be sexual. He claimed further that instances of women-on-women aggression was just internalized misogyny, but he didn't address the game theory argument. A story about a mother beating her 7 year old daughter so bad that she never has an orgasm again... that's horrific. But I feel it is best explained by my position, rather than the Australian's. But maybe I'm missing something. What would your opinion on the matter be?

The heating pad story is astounding. It combines tragedy and humor in a way that's arguably rare as hell. Two things that amaze me more than the story itself are, first, the openness of the lady who experienced these events and, second, how utterly fascinating Palahniuk manages to make the story by the way presents it. Chuck Palahniuk is an artist.
@Wolfgang Priklopil The lady herself stated there's a humoristic dimension to it if you sieve present it in a certain light and that doing it so would help her make the story complete.
I couldn’t imagine a society without any uncomfortable moments..I’ve learned so much from those situations..The groups of people trying to silence people don’t understand the complexity and importance of these moments.
"Thats the color I want to paint the rec room", OMg i was in tears that was so funny. I would've been the only one in there dying in a room of silence. No pun intended there.
The Mighty Ginkgo and it is funny in a way. It has nothing to do with the tragedy of the boy’s death. It’s simply about how people can turn off horror jn order to be able to cope with their environment. Nobody outside of that facility would ever behave like that, but inside nobody would bat an eye.
I was engaged, entertained, and he gave me new confidence by explaining it's OK to be hated as long as you are being you - but also being an artist and actually contributing to society, of course.

@@dfzbmw but you're not 100%?
he seems he's fascinated by these stories. he's gay too.. Don't u know about demographics? who do you think is number 1 in molesting boys??? yep gay men.
Favorite author of all time. Can never get enough of his stories
The David Sedaris autopsy lunch story might be my favorite true story I have ever heard in my life. It's the most insanely potent mix of conflicting emotions.
Her mom definitely tested that heating pad later on lol
More like before.
And after
Right. Well wrong she already knew. Got jealous.
real sick mom.
"He hasn't talked to me since" - This guy is a howl.Comedy gold.
i know the stories are dark, but i am extremely intrigued at his story telling and his willingness to expose himself to tell stories that are disturbing but real.
Absolute wordsmith. Could listen to Chuck talk all day. Great vid
Read Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Rant, Choke and Haunted before you call this man into question, he's one of the last great American Satirists.
Lullaby, always and forever Lullaby.
Survivor is great satire.
Choke is one of my favourite books of all-time. Audacious, exhilarating and laugh out loud funny.

What's your thoughts on adjustment day? Just got it and it's brilliant!!
This is my favorite JRE clip, by far. This dude is an extreme storyteller. Fascinating.
This man is and always will be a great story teller.
The quote "stories should disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed" really resonates with me
and i will always have respect for those who have the nerve to express what is difficult to express. becouse people will hate you, and that is not easy.
this feels like the quote I once read. "The prophets are never welcome in their own home."
I love this guy he is a story teller.
@Bumps in the night Doesn't that sum up the bible though?
Bumps in the night I’m not sure what video you just watched, but the whole point was to talk about how people , specifically who were abused as children can’t publicly tell their stories because of how twisted they are. All these stories were relevant to his argument and makes sense
@Bumps in the night I really hope you get the help you need my guy.
@Bumps in the night My guy as soon as you bring up that religious nonsence i can not take you serious anymore. I guess it's just the devil speaking through me!
@Bumps in the night You say personal attacks are his thing, but you went and mentioned his IQ. You are obviously living in a bubble if you can't listen to these stories. No need for them? Should people just talk about normal, nice experiences? Has one of these stories happen to you? If you tell them you will feel much better.
Havent finished this vid but I heard the podcast and I love how every time Chuck ends a story there’s a silence and then Joe goes “whoa”
Glad this interview took place, it was almost just like reading Chucks material. It was great!
Needless to say I will be reading Chuck Palahniuk soon.
Most of his books are masterpieces.
His book survivor is incredible satire.
Corey Holmes read Survivor and Pygmy those are my two favorites of his- they are true insights into human depravity and insanity.

After chuck tells each story joe looks like hes been thru the ringer lol I love chuck's stories
I remember I found chucks book haunted, my freshmen year in high school in my English class. my teacher had a bookshelf of donated books and there sat a copy of Haunted. If you know the book it's a crazy/awesome book to find in a high school...
Favorite author.
Met him on my birthday
He sent me a package with a TON of incredibly cool and weird shit in it.
I have it all still of course.
Like what?
@@DJogdog A baby bird. XD
Please do a video about it.
tell us now!
Oh shit. Didn't see my comment got lit up. My birthday is November first. So he was giving away a lot of halloween stuff.
So I got a signed rubber arm. BUT what is even cooler (yes cooler than the arm) is the box he sent me as a late bday present.
There was a bunch of random little stuff. a signed copy of my favorite book(rant) as well as a letter(we corresponded for some time)
The coolest item in the box was this crazy necklace with a bunch of stones and Pearl's he made by hand. He found every stone while traveling the world.
The Pearl's are rare. And 2 of them are the biggest pearls I have ever seen. Swear on my kid. It's the size of a large acorn.
Idk where is a public place I could post a picture. Maybe I'll do a quick video and upload it. I'll update people if I decide to do it.
Yes, it was and still is awesome. Stay safe guys(writing this at the height of covid19)

damn its sad how someone can't bring the real life out in the open
there's child abuse out there but people want too pretend it doesn't exist, which is why it still does
Resent The Dead it’s because anyone who mentions it OBVIOUSLY IS ADVOCATING FOR IT AND IS ACTUALLY SATAN.
a one they aren’t even his stories tho...
@a one haha. You are extremely small minded. It's a shame.
@Mike Custer or your a bigot.he is saying health wise not saying he fancys the dead kid u imbecile
@@Solidsnaik I sincerely hope your being facetious
Stories like that make me grateful for the lack of messed up stuff in my life
"Thats the color I want to paint the rec room", OMg i was in tears that was so funny.
I was a first responder and then I worked in a psychiatric prison. If you cant turn off the trauma you cant survive. I laughed my ass off.
I ordered one of this guys book after seeing this interview. Those are great provocative stories told by an amazing storyteller!!!
He's so right on about talking about things we don't talk about. It's cathartic.
This podcast literally made my mouth drop. I would love to take this guys class
Fucking brilliant man.
So glad Joe had him on this podcast.
Also, Joe's face at 7:53
I can't stop laughing at this dude, the way he tells stories is amazing
If you haven’t, go read “guts” asap. It made many audiences walk out during its reading
I was engaged, entertained, and he gave me new confidence by explaining it's OK to be hated as long as you are being you - but also being an artist and actually contributing to society, of course.
I enjoyed the raw truth I fed to my ears for 20 minutes.
Honestly, I could listen to this for hours.
Me too, I dont know what it says about me but I could listen to this kind of shit forever.
I have great news for you, then. This is just a clip from a longer interview with Rogan . . .
Ur fucked m8
This guy really knows how to tell a story and keep someone engaged
Been watching your channel for a long time because you're awesome namely but also for the UFO and paranormal content. That being said this is my favorite episode ever Chuck Palahniuk is a God
He just triggered two thirds of the people that watched this
Wow, i think this changed my life. I'm not sure how yet, but i think it did, somewhere deep inside.
Chuck’s writings challenged my perceptions of reality, changed my life. It’s the kind of darkening of the mind that forces you to grow.
this is the most Joe has ever laughed with a guest
His work is raw makes people uncomfortable it's great Joe u are awesome for having him on thank u
