  • It's been years in the making but here it is, the video covering the entire look at (most of) the SG Teams from the classic sci-fi show Stargate SG-1.
    A very special thanks to Stitch's Loft for their continued help throughout this video's production, you can take a look at their website and what they have to offer here: www.stitchslof...
    Now usually there's a comprehensive breakdown in the description of where to find all the items you'd need to put this uniform together. However, because of the sheer volume of items, not to mention work needed customizing and/or altering certain pieces, it's not really going to fit so instead here are links to all the resources mentioned in the video as well as a few others. Between them and the video you should have no problem finding what you'd need.
    Additionally you can reach out to most of the people behind these links who are often more than happy to assist tracking down most items.
    Vendors:
    Stitch's Loft (as mentioned above), additionally his RUclips channel can be found here: / @stitchsloft
    Alchemy Arms: www.alchemyarm...
    Additionally Etsy does offer quite a few kits and items for putting the costume together.
    Resources:
    SG1 Props: www.sg1props.com/
    Gateworld: www.gateworld....
    The Replica Prop Forums: www.therpf.com...
    SG-Command: sg-command.org/...
    Additionally there are a few different Facebook groups with varying levels of activity and focus.
    Propworx's Auction Catalogs: can be found in physical format sometimes through eBay or in PDF form, one of which can be found here: www.gaters.net/...

    I'll die on this hill; Stargate SG1 worked so well because while it was military sci-fi, it was first and foremost a military show with sci-fi elements. That familiarity of the military with its current day technology, customs and courtesies, and uniforms and the fact the show itself leans into our own curiosities about things like aliens, Area 51, and the actual NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex made our suspension of disbelief a seamless transition into thinking that could be what they're doing up there.

    • @DrKartoffelsalat
      @DrKartoffelsalat Год назад +31

      It also worked well because the technological progress felt earned, we see them over the seasons aquiring technology, which makes SGC go from a new player in galactic politics to a superpower. Additionally, having unprecedented Air Force support and input made some parts sure feel alot more real.

    • @enzov9772
      @enzov9772 Год назад +4

      @@DrKartoffelsalat I think it's also important that if they renew the series, the technology level needs to feel "present day" and while not exactly retcon all of the technology that were acquired over the SG-1 timeline, but not rely or show so much because its that "earned technology" feeling you described that makes the series work. Also in any renewed series the main characters CANNOT be on SG-1 nor should it feature SG-1 in any way. We should never know or see who is now on SG-1 just so that we can keep that mystique going and plus we already have 10 seasons of SG1 from a direct perspective. It'll be cool to see Stargate from a different, Earth perspective. I've always though any new series should have main characters in the NID. I thought that organization was underutilized and always typecast as the antagonist but I think there's a lot of room there to build on an already great series.

    • @DrKartoffelsalat
      @DrKartoffelsalat Год назад +3

      @@enzov9772 Homeworld Command could easily be the overarching organization shown in a new show, since they organize the SGC, Atlantis Expedition, Destiny Expedition, etc. Could allow us to combine all of it into one and show multiple different perspectives. But i'm not too confident we'll ever see a continuation, a reboot is more likely.

    Rich actually really liked those "mountaineering glasses". I visited the set for my Make-A-Wish trip back in the day during the production of season 5, and while I was there Rich actually wore those glasses like off-set during lunch and when we were playing basketball and shit. We weren't even shooting outside that day and everything was shot inside on the main set, but he had those glasses on whenever we were outside for any reason. My mom even asked him about it, like mentioned offhand that they must be pretty nice if he's choosing to wear them on his own. He said he wasn't sure where they (wardrobe or props department or whatever) got them, but he really liked them and even had them get him another pair to take home lol. I've never checked on it myself, but I'd be surprised if they were entirely custom made...
    Anyway just a fun little bit of info I thought I'd offer.

  • @Dataanti
    @Dataanti Год назад +8

    the mixxing and matching of uniforms is kind of normal in the military. as new uniforms, styles, and equipment phase in and out. not everyone can get all the new stuff right away. obviously the best of the best get all the best stuff first all the time, but for all the support trades and less operational positions, you are genearlly getting what you can get from supply depending on what they have in stock.
    dress uniforms are the exception. when something changes on them, you best make sure that the next time you have to wear it, it is up to date. I have seen some people walking around with outdated patches, ranks, and what not in dress uniforms, and they stick out like crazy for the wrong reasons.

    I shoot a real P90S (carbine with a 16" barrel) and there are MOLLE compatible single and double magazine pouches. They are velcroed at the top. I wear 3 double pouches on my vest. The 50 round magazines are actually surprisingly light.

    • @Terminator484
      @Terminator484 Год назад

      It's actually the "FN PS90".
      But you are right about the magazines being quite light; lighter than a standard P-Mag for the AR platform.
      I've often wondered if anybody cosplays with the actual real firearm (unloaded, presumably), instead of the cheap airsoft replicas. I have heard the airsoft version is much lighter, and some people complain about the weight of the real thing, but it's not really that bad & you get used to it pretty quick. Having only experience with the real gun, I can't speak from experience in how the airsoft version compares.
      It is a ridiculously easy gun to shoot, quiet, with such a low recoil that it's a breeze to stay on target. It feels & pops like a .22, but hammers targets like a 5.56mm. It's a far cry from the AR platform, while being similarly capable. I bought mine about 6 years ago, and it was an excellent $1600 investment that will last a lifetime. The sole down side is the ammo tends to be harder to find and costs about twice that of 9mm, though a 50-rnd box is a deceptively small and light package.

    All the years I watched this show and I never noticed this until I saw this vid. At 11:49 there's a large photo of a F-4 hanging on the wall behind a character. I don't think a USAF facility would really use a picture of a Royal Air Force F-4, surely they could find a pic of a USAF example - that's a famous publicity pic of a 29 Sqn jet low level over the North Sea from the 80's.

    My favorite weapon appearance was the badass from SG-3 who carried a 50 cal. but sadly never saw it being used. Would've cut Jaffas in half, probably

    If anyone requires help with the vest just ask or something as ebay uk offers the exact vest in the 08/8 version in olive and black
    Along with the magnum boots as they are very common
    Along with the patches in the original black and dark grey and gray colour
    Or a seller in the uk has an entire stargate outfit for sale helmet uniform vest patches for sale

      eBay does not have EXACT vest they need to be made since the release of the Gen 4 Blackhawk Elite... The screen accurate vests are SUPER RARE these days!

      @@StitchsLoft I was going to say the same thing. The vests used on the show were not stock Blackhawk vests, the costume dept. made several modifications to them for the show. One of the biggest changes was the adding female quick release buckles and elestic straps over them to the shoulders. These were added to allow the cast to clip their packs directly to their vests.

      @@Riceball01 they touched on briefly like he said enough make your head spin the team didn't even have same clips! Daniel and Cam had single bar, where Carter, O'Neill and Teal'c had a double bar clip. You're not going to find anything close unless it's one I've already modded! Literally working on custom vest for a guys that's 6'7" in the Sweden right now! 😎

    Is there a reason BDUs didn't include slanted pockets like jungle fatigues? Or was it just done because it was a basic way to do pockets.
