Just a heads up for anyone else fitting one of these: Fit the bottom bracket 1st THEN sit the unit in place to find the right height for the top bracket - fit the top bracket with the flange upwards with only TWO screws fixed at the TOP of the slots (the bottom bracket supports most of the weight) do not fully tighten screws at this stage - you can then slide the bracket up to remove it, put the filter back in place, refit the bracket and tighten the screws - this also allows you to easily remove the filter in the future if you need to.
Bit of advice… the O rings that come with the threaded fitting should be used, save yourself on PTFE 👍 also you might want to invest in a wood bit to drill through wood before the masonry
crazy that this costs nearly the same as a tempest, not that they're the same thing but build wise not a lot in it, either this is underpriced or the tempest is overpriced as for £25 difference you get brackets, UV, ball valves and the tempest you get a couple of slide valves and a good luck fitting mate.
Any manufacturer has the same issue… they need to sell at a cost they can make it worth it for them… as a dealer we won’t sell it unless it’s worth it for us.
Hi Tim,ive had my surge filter running for about two months now used it as a polisher after my eazypod instead of the Tempest as that was to tall my water has never been better its crystal clear.
Clean it once a week same time as the eazypod, yes quiet a bit of debris comes out, took about two weeks to notice a big difference in the water clarity.
Do you use anything other than evolution aqua out of interest? I've gone through several of their pumps (all failed with various errors) until I moved to a different manufacturer. An easypod (just doesn't clean worth a jot) and a UV which is so so fiddly to change the bulbs on.
My problem with this is surely everything that catches it’s just gonna get melted by the uv being so close to the media and end up in the pond anyway? Any algae particles are gonna get killed as well as most other things.

We just use PTFE from habit. Didn’t realise we would have to put it on a support ( we really didn’t look before we unboxed)

Plumbing world 20 wraps of PTFE 👍🏻 so it's a tempest with a UV another great video keep em coming 👍🏻
It’s very similar yes! (I think)

Excellent! How often are you cleaning it? Are you noticing a lot of debris caught?
The unit has made the water clearer?

@@pauloakley7587 that’s not bad for once a week. Maybe I’ll leave mine for a few more days before doing an update
Nice Work Gents.
Let’s see how it performs 🤷♂️

Not really, no need to. The UV’s are the same as most to change. Not sure why an eazypod won’t clean?
Won’t the UV being that close to the K1 kill any beneficial bacteria?
The UV is a clarifier not a steriliser. It’s also only 18w of power, I personally don’t think so but we will address it on the next video 👍
What do we do if our ponds are bigger than 5000 ltrs tim 😅 do we add more to get our gallonage
Haha no mate, we use an Advanced!
Nice bit of kit. Look forward to trial results.
Worrying that the authority on filtration should even give this a go. Its a tempest with UV.
Yeah? Why’s that then?
you put the ball valves on the wrong way round.

We have talked about it to be fair. Let’s see when we do the first clean.
@@TimWaddingtonlooking forward to the update
Ideal if your fish live in a bath waste of money
Maybe if you realised the average pond size in the UK is around 500 gallons or less.
@@TimWaddingtonso how come you put it on a 2,000 gallon pond at Least makes no sense
@@AshD92 if you watch the video, you will hear that after I’ve tested it, how much waste etc… it is getting moved to my big Goldfish tank…
