    You did a shout out to Brockstone and I need to give you a shout out… I’m in the states and took on a Italian porcelain fail job for a good friend. It was installed on a slab and failed in 3 months. Apparently everyone around here doesn’t know what to do with them. I pulled over 200 - 600mm x 20mm tiles up but I had no idea how to work with them. I found you and watched a lot of your videos and did a bunch of research. I ground off all the crappy mortar on all of them, reinstalled with the technical skills from you, and on a full mortar bed.. almost done just have one row of cuts! This terrace looks great and you deserve a big thank you! If it’s ok with you I’d love to share my project with you.. email? Facebook?

    At 23:45 perhaps a better design choice would have been to put a border between the tiles and the grass (not a criticism, but a personal choice).
    I am rebuilding our garden at the moment. The area I am currently working on has a tiled path, a composite deck and a mini-lawn all in an 8x8 m2 area.I have used light grey granite cut stones 100 x 5 x 20 cm placed on their edges giving a 5cm border level with the tiles and decking with the lawn slightly below so that when the grass is cut it will be level with the rest.
    This gives a nice clean transition between the surfaces but also avoids the weak grass growth on the borders. Without the stones the tiles and deck need to be supported with a footing at 45 degrees meaning that soil against the deck and path has hardly any depth making for poor grass growth. I also have sheet of bumpy plastic between the soil and the edge stones to avoid discoloration over time.
    In the vid, the herringbone tiles do have a border and I suspect that the concrete raft has vertical edges as the grass is growing well right. up to the edge.

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  2 года назад +2

      Actually Keith she didn’t want a border on the square patio area and the grass is to be removed next year and re-turfed anyway then they will have perfect heights
