I made your improve quilt along, solid grey with pops of brights. I did not like the negative grey nor the improv method. But I finished it and donated it. Happy New Year from C C C Cold and snowy Ontario.
@@ScrapFabricLove I have NOT made a quilt with lots of negative space and wouldn’t have thought I’d like it … BUT I love what you did with Dan’s quilt!! Love the colors … I think it was the grey linen 🥰 absolutely beautiful ! You’re a scrappy genius 🥳
I absolutely love everything about this, the creative process, beauty from chaos, amazing result. Love the 'line with pebble' pattern, so simple and cool. Fantastic result, thank you for sharing.
I really enjoyed watching your videos on making this quilt. I have not made a quilt with a lot of negative space but I want to try this. It turned out very pretty. I have been quilting for only 5 years since retiring. Will go back and watch more of your videos in the past.
Appreciate your design process - improv for the win - I recently acquired a cast away project and will do pretty much what you have done - so liberating
You are so brave to ask people what they would like! It's a great way to be sure they will actually use what you make and your effort isn't wasted. You are inspiring as usual!
I love your use of linen, as I want to make a healing quilt. And this would be a great idea to combine my minimalist quilt with the healing quilt. I purchased linen clothing from a thrift store and plan to use a linen sheet for the backing. Cannot wait to get started. Thank you for your tutorial. It’s a lovely quilt. ❤
Hey, Kristen! Well, you’ve done it once again! The design and colours in the quilt are beautiful and definitely suits his space! I admire your ability to evaluate, modify, and edit when needed. Thanks for shar8ng! Wishing you and yours a safe, healthy, and Happy New Year! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
Really like your final quilt, Kristen! That looks like it will be quite at home in Dan's space and be a very attractive addition to his home. -Sally from MO-USA
Thanks! If I sit around thinking about it too much it just gets less clear for me - so starting usually helps my thought process….but different folk have different processes that work for them. You just have to find the one that works for you.
As I watched this video, I was so intrigued by your process of designing and constructing the quilt. I am so not a free spirit, as you, but I do appreciate the outcome. As you might surmise, I haven't made a quilt with lots of negative space. Looks too intimidating to me. 😊Great job with Dan's quilt!
Amazing thought process! Imagine asking for details from the person it goes to.... like they'd have any idea at all. Their magic word is "quilt"... thing on the bed...warm...the rest is huge blank.
I like to ask at least if they want more modern or traditional and if they get interested at that point I keep asking more questions. Dan had some definite ideas!
It's wonderful!!!! I've not done anything with massive negative space, but Dan's quilt it beautiful and something I would love to have! As I've told you many times before, I am so inspired by your process. Thanks for sharing!
@@margaretretter3665 right?! I love the quilting too! I don’t have a long arm, but feel confident to try that on my domestic 🙌 love learning … thanks Mucho❤️❤️❤️

Yes it is! I have a few videos where I did this maybe 2 years back in the feed (? can’t remember!) and I’m working on something a bit like that now too. Definitely fun!
Have you made a quilt with lots of negative space? How did you find the process?

What a great quilt! And your process was helpful. I also often overdo colours and pattern, so this was good to see. Lucky Dan!

The colors picked are AMAZING the way they play together! 🥰

Kristen, that was very successful! Your graphic picked up the colours in his living room perfectly. The quilting pattern is very effective, too.
Thank you!

Looks great! My style. I’m thinking want to do something like that
