  • Travis goes in depth about the Natural Selection winning geometries of his Lib Tech Golden Orca covering it's twin tip powder dominating freestyle ways, the design traits carried over from the Goldmember, how the Orca's Whale Tail technology was translated here, where he rides it, where weight reduction in the board is important, what size he rode in the Natural Selection and the "radiating energy" of the Andrew Schoultz artwork.
"We've created an anomaly, a directional twin, and when I say twin I really mean twin, that feels like an Orca." Travis Rice

I've spent almost this entire year riding backwards to try to fix my switch stance and this board has been critical... Also the graphics from the year they were introduced are absolutely mind blowing.

I wish they didn’t change the graphic so quick. The original graphic was so much sicker and I wanted one. Gonna wait until a new one comes out. I tend to gravitate to the Mike Parillo graphics

Are really advanced riders liking this as a resort board?
Hearing conflicting info re: sizing. At 6’1”, 176#, expert level, Tahoe-based, always ridden 159-161cm twins/directional twins…I’m having a hard time deciding b/w 157 and 161cm. Advise?

Had same issues. Was wishing for a 159. Went with the 161. Ride 1 day here in Chicago. Can't wait to get this thing out in pow. Purchased the 161 specifically for AK Heli trips. Have the normal orca in a 153, orca split in a 156, and my park board is a 161 TRS. I'm just over 6'-1" and 180 lbs dry. 161 is what I suggest u get, unless they drop a 159 b4 u pull trigger.

Thanks- that’s helpful. Looking down at the 156 with my 23.25” stance, there’s def not as much nose, tail as I’d like, even for resort riding. With sidecut radius and width (+2mm) basically the same b/w 156 and 161, I can’t imagine the 161 is that much more board? I’m also used to ~122cm eff edge, so nervous about dropping down to 113cm w/ 156 GO.

I have 157 and it’s perfect for all conditions but I am 5’10”. If I was 6’1” I would probably go 161 so that I could guarantee good performance on powder. The board definitely does feel a little shorter looking down at it (I’m used to 161+ boards) but I’m glad I went 157. It’s a lot more maneuverable in the trees, and in the park, and surprisingly it does 99% of what I can do on my 163 GoldMember in the deep pow. I wouldn’t be too scared to do a 157 if I were you, especially if you like spending time in the park.

I’m 160 lbs resort riding in Washington at crystal mtn every day. 157. Rips hard, super stable, good in powder are the notables. Doesn’t go as fast as I’d like sometimes but that’s fine. Love this board

The fact that he said this is a damp board for carbon, makes me want to stick with a smoother less chatter board like the regular Orca.
I’m on the north east coast and mostly ride resort with mixed condition groom days. So I’m thinking the Orca or the Golden Orca. I have zero park experience and currently ride a K2 Raygun.
Money is not the issue. I’m just looking for a 7 year board. And want something fun, lightish, stable and quick. Based on that any suggestions?

I have both the orca and golden orca. Also have an OG trp and the last GoldMember. I am 5’10” and 190lbs, size 11 boots. I ride PNW conditions in the cascade range on mt hood 90% of the time the conditions there are similar to east coast. Have to recommend the Golden Orca. It does everything really well. I ride it 90% of the time in any conditions just because it’s super versatile. Only on the deepest pow days I might switch up and ride my GoldMember or trp but honestly the GO rides almost as good even in those conditions. It really is a quiver killer and I would bet that Lib scales back the GO production in the next few years to not take too many sales away from the other boards they produce.
