So true about having the right gear and the right flex through out boots, bindings and board. Makes a whole difference on the hill. Thanks for the awesome gear review Travis
I admire your God given genius, thank you for your inspiration and guidance. I’ll have a better day on the slopes everyday thanks to the work you’ve put in.
Lib Tech T.Rice Pro C2X 2015 is what I have and I love this board everyone that rides it ends up wanting to use mine all day all I need is these boots tho
I’ve been out of snowboarding for at least a decade… I still have my old lib tech t rice though. My question is do they still do the “zig zag” edges? That was what I lived about my t rice back in the day, curious if that’s still something that Lib uses with modern boards… Edit- shoulda watched until 4:36 lol… ya magnate action is the best shit to hit snowboards, I remember the first time I tried it years ago in the half pipe… the amount of edge I could hold on the half pipe wall was just crazy lol.
I have a 2020 orca in my quiver. Whistler is my home resort. We had el nino and solid precipitation this year. Still only really took it out 9 times for pow days. Spent more time on a twinpig, super pig and a "finest" -jib days. But you see people that only have an orca in their quiver, riding greens all day. I actually had to put a stone grind on it... orca with the tnt extruded base is sooooo slow on a cat track... even with structure.. the twinpig leaves it in the dust. Sintered with factory stone grind.
@@dootdoot1867 I just find it funny when people ride boards when the conditions don't really call for it. I wanted an Orca for my Japan trip but couldn't find one and got a hovercraft. When I got back I sold it. People that use boards like that as their DD are ridiculous.
@@stevros48 lib tech uses weird marketing around bases. They call it "knife cut sintered" which uses die cuts and laminates which is still extruded. They can't tell you 40001, 6001, 9900.. etc. Because marketing allows them to skirt it. Anyone that rides and knows the diff can tell instantly. The shop that I got the stone grind at. Crystal in North Vancouver goes nerdy into it. They work with yes and endeavor
Someone help lol. Im a low level intermediate and I’m only riding on groomers in the east coast. What’s a good board for me? I mainly ride directional (goofy). Thank you in advance
I haven't been on my board since January 2020... Miss it too much. Life needs to return to *_REAL NORMAL*_. Not some jumped up police state. Need to be able to travel without restrictions.
Everyone is different. It takes time to dial in what you need . I've found that the lighter you can make your gear from your board weight to clothing weight the better. More energy all around and you last longer through the day . Less fatigue!
Blake Paul is back country... but a whole different type of back country terrain then what Travis Rice hunts... Scott stevens? Lol. The type of riding you are after dictates what you like in your gear setup. If these three men where cruising resort groomers all day they would have completely different setups.
@@stevros48 that's because Scott Stevens messed his ankles up and needs the extra support of a stiff boot. He addressed in a 32 boot video a while back.
I would say: Boot needs to be stiff, Board needs to in the middle or stiff and your bindings need to be as soft as you board or riding style allows it so that it matches and you can still also tweak. Just don't ride soft boots!
Ha true, but he’s the only one who actually talked through his gear tho in depth. And let’s be real, if you are watching this vid, you want to hear details.
@@Dan-wq8by Nah, man. This is tech nerd heaven. It's great to have the details on what riders ride and why. All the riders should get 10 minutes to talk about their kit. Always annoyed me about X Games etc that the commentators talk about how Dusty Hendrickson has punk patches or whatever. Great but what boots does he use? What are his stance angles? What's his board profile? Info that might help you get more comfortable with your own riding or help keep you warm and dry all day. Get you on the right kit for the riding you do. This is the shit!
I would love to ride a lib tech because they are so eco friendly… but wtf are those grafics!? They weren’t cool in the art of flight and aren’t cool now ether! As a european I always wonder: are people actually riding these in the US? i only see the orca around here and thats the only one that looks ok!
Hahahah he doubled down on the gutless Fish analogy. To piss off Burton lol i can picture Jake chuckling at that from the heavens. That said... the Fish is still better than his Orca. And it's not endangered.
Why is union still running such a tiny baseplate? I have run into multiple people complaining about the fact that the small base plate covering the hardware is making the board come loose exponentially faster.. most because you have to screw into closer holes on the board rather than spreading them out which makes for a more stable product.. my buddy tightens his bindings about 3 times a day riding resort with me and he is still looking like a surfer on his board because his bindings will literally slide around under his feet while still being technically connected. Idk how he hasnt died from that but i think union owes him a new pair! A pair hopefully that doesnt use that silly new tech that clearly doesnt work.
So your buddy isn't tightening them enough, then. You can also use clear nail polish or blue loctite on your bolts to make them hold. I ride Falcors and Stratas and only have to tighten them up twice during the season with ~30 days of riding. Tell him to be a man about it! If they're good enough for Travis, Gigi, etc they're good enough for him.
@@ElevenEightNate Could also be using the wrong length screws. If your screws are too long they'll work themselves loose over time as you ride, ran into that problem with an old Arbor board.

Bring Gear Talks back already. Literally was one of the best parts about Natural selection and everyone wins.
The GOAT...for me. Gotta love the character, he is like a thing from stories.
Love gear talk, and can't agree more to Travis' last sentence. Great video 🤙
Can you ask Quiksilver to do a fly fishing line? That kit is not far away!
I can say the bib is an absolute must I hate getting snow stuck in my waste line, having warm and good gortex gear is a no brainer!
I like the gear talks, keep ‘em coming
A year later and I'm still not seeing the bibs anywhere, really want a set of those.

Which Baselayer is he wearing? Anybody know?

The part about the cant on the bindings made sense instantly! Really neat, would have never thought about bindings that way.

Yup well, all this gear just went up on the "Needs" vs "Wants" list.
His philosophy on stiffness is quite the opposite of Blake Paul's who runs super stiff boots and a soft board.
same with scott stevens , runs a medium soft board and soft union contact pro bindings but uses a reasonably stiff boot in the 32 TM2
