Also the grapple hook shouldn't have been nerfed, it should have been deleted, just like every other special. People shouldnt be flying around with wingsuits or grappling around, this isnt fucking Just Cause 3, its Battlefield, want to fly? Get a heli or a plane. The quicker this game series gets back to reality the better. How about just make a game based in some point in history with a war, have it be authentic to that war, have it represent that war accurately, and make sure it has a good campaign and multiplayer.
Also all of the characters should have been deleted. In fact just imagine if we spent less time making all these dumb unique characters, hiring sub par voice actors to sound like cringe inducing, pre pubescent, social outcasts. There would have been enough time to have more than 4 guns in the game. And maybe even a map worth playing. Honestly out of the top 10 worst maps in gaming history, this game has about 7 of them, and I cant even remember their names, they are that bad. They managed to be abhorrently shit and forgettable, that takes some doing, thats some real prowess right there.
Seriously, I think I remember Kaleidoscope simply because I watched vehicles drive up buildings, I remember a map with a ship, dont know what its called. There is one with loads of containers, dont know what its called. there is one in a desert, dont know what its called. theres the one with the tunnels, dont know what its called. theres the icy one with the oil rig, dont know what its called. Theres the one with the bridge, dont know what its called. How do they do this?

The map names part is so true. They have the most generic, boring, unrelated names. Like you said, Kaleidoscope. What the fuck does that name mean? That could be the name of any other map and nobody would really care. I have to play mental gymnastics in lobby trying to remember if that's the map I don't want to play when it finds a match.
You go back to older games and every name fits. Even if it has some "generic" name it still fits because of theme or historical reasons. Like Panzerstorm being about a battle where a lot of tanks were used, Propaganda set in North Korea, or Epicenter from BF3 a post earthquake map... It's all memorable and fits. How the fuck does a name like Manifest fit with the containers of Singapore's port?
McKay can never be nerfed enough. The grappling hook is just a balancing nightmare, should’ve never been in the geme

That Mackay nerf is the closest possible thing to removing him from the game, basically a long overdue apology because his ability destroyed every sense of what was left in terms of map design since release …
So Attack Heli is somehow OP but Little Bird with it's Air-to-Ground missile with CD shorter than Vehicle's Smoke Screen CD - is absolutely fine. Do they even play their own game?
they should have just given Mackay the Battlefield Hardline grappling hook. would've allowed your teammates to use it as well and you'd also have to do a long climbing animation to get to the top.
to clear up any miscommunication what enders said about the vehicle repair system it isnt about forcing engineers to repair its to make it where before any tanks could pretty much ignore all damage with the press of a single button as stated by DICE and if you ever driven a tank so they made that nerf to make it fair for engineers to kill tanks a little easier now than before

Grapple nerf was so needed…instant roof top ability anywhere is totally broken and is the main reason BF2042 infantry gameplay suffers so much…so much verticality that is caused by MacKays everywhere…couldn’t be happier unless they removed the grapple from the game completely

@@Mo1stKevlar I mean…. It was a thing in bf4/other previous titles and worked just fine. All chat could still just be typed out but team chat should 100% be an audio thing. You’d be astounded at how many people don’t play with a headset or if they do it’s only earbuds. It would probably only be 32 people in 128 and maybe 10-15 in 64.

Weren't there multiple glitches at the start of the season. The masterkey is bugged, the ak5c close combat extended mag was bugged apparently. Did dice ever fix those?

I'm a big vehicle player and i really like this nerfs, ngl i have use the Irish trick some times cuz my team was getting farmed by some jet or heli and was disgussting how the APS eats all the rocket pods.
The heli nerfs is good, at the moment is really easy to kill a tank in one strife (even without a gunner), the only nerf i dont like is the nerf of the thermal sight in the gunner (didnt get if this was a visual nerf or a damage nerf).
Mackay is dead? Good, now fix falk and angel so one is health and the other is ammo.
Perhaps rework boris too, but they wont do none of that.
@Enders For those of you reading if you don't know what the 7.2 update is going to bring for the aps Sentinel on Irish amongst others please take the time to review it now because I don't have time to copy and paste it all.
Few patches ago they nerfed Casper's drone for having the ability to EMP at all. This was to stop Casper's drone from permanently or near permanently disabling vehicles. However this caused issues on other aspects versus people hunkering down on objectives and over fortifying. Without that EMP to have the ability to hit gadgets only instead of just removing the ability to disable vehicles it is causing a huge issue already. This being said has direct correlation to what I'm about to say about irish's Sentinel.
If you remove the ability to shoot down vehicle projectiles you are going to not only increase the Noob Tube recoilless spam and RPG spam Etc on close quarter combat Maps, which might not necessarily be an issue for some of you guys that like to have larger scale Warfare. however if dice or EA can actually read this thread and understand that if they did not remove the ability to EMP on Casper's drone, then Casper's EMP drone which would only affect gadgets at this point, would be able to take out irish Sentinels and help alleviate the enemies fortifications...even vehicles campers using Irish shoot down sentinals...
In layman's terms
Casper Drone could counter Irish Sentinels if they added ability to emp gadgets only on Casper Drone, removing the need to nerf Irish Sentinal in the first place...EA / DICE caused what they are nerfing because they don't care....plain and simple.

Legit question: why is Falk considered better than Angel? Angel has ammo box/pack and health box/pack, as well as defibs (I know that they are slower thank Falk's, of course).

Given Irish already can't block Smoke or EMP grenades (as Redacted was unfair in Season 6), he can now basically only stop frag & concussion grenades. What's the point? Would've made more sense to cripple Irish's cooldown and place limited ammo in the Trophy system. Also have it not work if you're inside a vehicle. He's just pointless now.
He will still work for underbarrel’s I imagine as well as the sph launcher. It’s just anti vehicle weapons ie shoulder launched rockets. I don’t think it’ll be that bad, not many people fire m-5 or lissiles or rpg’s down choke points given the awful area of effect. It’ll be fine
He can also block under-barrels and almost all of the vehicles explosive munitions such as the jets rocket pods. With that in mind, countering the different shoulder launced rockets such as the rpg was easily the sentinals greatest benefit as you could do a lot to protect friendly veichles. He is going to be drastically worse after this patch and as an Irish main this makes me sad 😢😭.

End of 2042, no fix for the netcode leaving the game for some as a casual shooter that the netcode dictates the gameplay. Glad I spent so little on it.
They wouldn’t have to nerf APS if they left Casper drone emp. And im shocked they haven’t removed c5 drones. It’s the only fun thing left for Casper.
As an engineer player: The problem is that the repair tool is basicaly useless. It repairs abysmally slow and overheats too quickly.
Besides, most vehicle drivers are too braindead to let me repair. Anything happens, they hit S and back up until they hit a wall or get shot XD
So i've just given up trying to repair.
I'd rather have granny running around than me first Mackay. That said its going to be maddening when all the sweats use granny for self healing but still don't bother reviving anyone else.
I get tier 1 on a character,then choose another,I thought everyone did this, obviously not.
Hopefully this is a sign of good things ahead, no more stupid ass grapple hook BS going forward.

HAHAHA that nerf is going to be a kick in the head, for the fact that 80% of the time the grappling hook never works 1st time. The amount of times ive die just coz it never worked.
It's so infuriating that it took this long for Dice to make those Irish APS changes.
Irish nerf should require nerf vs infantry on anti vehicle rockets and rpgs.
U want to create noob tube spammers with recoilesses and the like on cqb maps like stadium and redacted, nerf Irish to prevent him from defending against it. Irish now just stops grenades and nothing else...bad bad idea.

I wanted them to take his grapple away ENTIRELY! His movement while ADS is annoying but not game breaking like getting to places other people cant.
If they took away his grapple and gave him rechargeable armor plates (like you get one back every 15 seconds or something) or something it would be less annoying than his is still going to be after these nerfs.

so i put up a stop watch next to your gameplay, turns out most of the time you dont use the grapple for half a minute, so i guess you wont be affected that much. only the people who spam it to cross the street with better speed and croocked hitbox will be affected, as they should be

about the lmg nerf... well one of them does have a AT nade launcher and the other does not, so they made it worse for infantry v infantry, since its already better for antivehicle play, it makes no sense to have anti vehicle lmg be better against infantry than other options that dont have AT

100% You can't expect teamwork to happen in mutliplayers games do what BF4 did they introduce field upgrades where they give you addition powers to you as an individual but there's a catch you need to listen to your squad leaders orders and keep them alive otherwise you lose your upgrade bonus. You need to trick the players into working together by giving them selfish rewards
I would have preferred they left all the OP shit in the game and adapted to that than turning everyone into a bullet sponge and nerfing the fun right out of everything. I can pound a guy with a HMG and he will just hop and skip right off. Great work DICE!

I got the grapple as the #5 gadget now (down from #2), and Crawford’s deep pockets now surpasses Nimble as the top perk. After the dust settles Mackay still ranked top specialist over runners-up Zain, Falck, and Lis.

McKay was blatantly overpowered by the grapple since start of the game. It was just like there's a spiderman or batman on the field. So good news (just my opinion). They also should have nerfed the magical Sundance wingsuit, like maybe make her die when landing at 300 mph ?
