My banjolele yawns... I just brutally woke him up with this Ragtime. I'm glad you brought us together. I realize I missed him 😉 ...Namasté Stu!
Sweet! Glad I could bring you and your banjolele back together! 😊
Like the different ways you show us how to play Hot Tamale! Keep up the good work Aloha Stu
Aloha Gary, thanks for watching :-)
Fun to sing The Beatles "Her Majesty" along with this chord progression too!
Ah yes Christopher!! So true… Good ear!
Love it Stu, more ragtime please!!!!!!
Right on Alex… Will do!
Wow this is one of my Robert Johnson's favorite. My lucky day!!! STUpendous ;D
Cheers! The red hot chili peppers do a really wild version of it too 😉
Yay! I love ragtime. Can't wait to practice this one.
Thanks Jim! Happy playing 🎶
Just signed up on Patreon and think that's the best move I ever made. There is so much great information there to learn different songs, get the tabs, and lyrics to sing along. This is very exciting stuff! I just printed out the tabs to this song on Patreon and working on the timing. I'm starting out with just the strumming until I get a little better since I'm just starting out. I usually strum with a pick but it seems to sound better strumming with my thumb. I seem to have trouble strumming with my finger as opposed to my thumb. Thanks again!
WOW - thanks for your kind message here. I am so glad you're enjoying leaning with my videos...all h best with your music journey!
This is great, Stu!
Waving back :)
Great
Thanks Dorothy! Thanks for watching - hope you'll subscribe for more fun vids like this one 🤙
Good stuff! Thanks!
Thanks for watching Ken!
I posted it in my Facebook Account! 👍🙏🎼 Great Stu 🥂
Awesome thank you!
Teach us Gypsy strumming please. Greetings from Mexico
Noted! You mean like gypsy rhumba?
I love your gypsy swing lesson and would like to get deeper into everything gypsy
Just gonna go ahead and plant the seed; Thanksgiving will be here before you know it and a tutorial for "Alice's Restaurant Massacree" the quintessential American Thanksgiving song would be most welcome. It builds on this song really well.
That was what I thought, too, and it seems to be EXACTLY the same chords, so your wish actually is fulfilled, just take this tutorial...
See here: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/arlo_guthrie/alices_restaurant_massacree_chords_1851007
Hey Ivan, that’s a great idea… That would be a lot of words to memorize! 😉 thanks for sharing that link Jost
@@jostschenck6629 good looking out! Thanks!
Never got around this one, now I did :) Thanks so much!!! I found playing A instead of A7 better sounding. Ab is just not such a good bass note for the A7 chord. An alternative would be to play straight A with middle finger on 3rd fret on E-string. Doing so would result in A7 but then with A in the bass instead of Ab. Does this make any sense? Anyway thanx for sharing these songs with us!
MrJaynickel - playing the E string on the third fret is G, just like the open fourth string, only up an octave (with a low G string). The G note is the seventh of the A chord. There is no Ab note.
This is great! Thanks for the fun lesson. I was wondering if I want to play it only the Baritone, apart from changing the chords to the key of G, should I also change the fingerpicking pattern? It sounds good when I follow the same but not quite the same as what you do...so if you could help me out with that, it would be awesome!
I had the same doubt in the Bob Dylan video too when we did 4 2 3 1-4 2 3 2 picking.
Go for it! I think modifying patterns and making them fit into our own way of playing is a good thing!
@@UkuleleZen Okay! I added an extra pinch on string 3&1 after the first part of the syncopation pattern. It sounds good to me so I'll go with it! Thank you again for encouraging this experimentation in style. 😄
Hi Stu - posted to #ClermontUkuleles
Thanks!! I may be coming back to Orlando area 2nd week of November ;-)
Could you please show how to count the syncopation pattern. Thanks P
If you can say it, you can play it. So say this out loud: ONE and two AND three and FOUR and, ONE and two AND three and FOUR and, ONE and two AND three and FOUR and, ONE and two AND three and FOUR and...
@@UkuleleZen When you show it slowly, you play seven notes and I think you rest on the and of 4, though to be honest, I'm finding it hard to tell. But when you play it full speed, I could swear you're playing eight notes. What's that eighth note? Or am I being misled?
Or maybe the question is, you told us about seven notes (pinch (MT) , I, T, M, T, I, T), but their are eight eight notes in a measure. Where are you putting the rest? Or if you are playing on all eight eighth note beats, what are you playing on the eighth?
Thanks. Can you do some rag ?
This is pretty Raggy no? Another one in the future could be really fun (ala The entertainer… That would be a lot of work!)
Thanks for the time to reply stu. Been playing since December and after years of not playing guitar its the best 90 quid I've spent. It's opened up a new world of music I thought I wasn't interested in. If you do the ' hesitation blues' or ' who stole the lock of the henhouse door' I'd be made up. Thanks again Dave from the UK.
Hey Stu, what happened to the B7 chord, did you erase it to make it easier??
Hello Stu. I realize that for the split bar you do not follow the whole pattern but play the first half twice instead. I can only assume that handling vocals simultaneously might 'cause' that. Is that so?
That’s a good point Marius. Sometimes I think things through and sometimes I just play and feel… I believe that if a person is keeping the rhythm and enjoying themselves that’s enough. And yes… Sometimes patterns change due to what we’re singing it’s all up to you really 😉🎶😎 happy playing!
Hi there.is your G string tuned an octave lower than 'standard' tuning?
Nope - just Standard low GCEA tuning
Forgive me so the G string is a lower pitch than the C. On my uku the G string is tuned higher than C
@@davidkerr4137 yeah I was confused by this too
Is it low G uke in the video?
Yep
Yes that’s a low G ukulele… With unwound strings made of florocarbon
A re-entrant yeah ?
Hi G - coming. Check out my version of Bach live: ruclips.net/video/6NbhEscK8_E/видео.html
