At this point it's hard to be excited for anything WB/DC announces. For years they couldn't decide what direction they want to take the films. Then Cavill announced his return to the role of superman, and I was excited to see what he could do with a traditional superman story. Then they cut Cavill loose, and I find myself apathetic to the whole thing.
Yeah I agree. If they hadn't done the Cavill post credit scene in Black Adam, I think people would be a little less upset. There would still be people wishing he would be able to come back but the fact that they announced he was coming back and then were like "just kidding" only like 2 months later made the situation worse
It’s like I said before James Gunn has a massive tall order to deliver something right out of the gate that’ll unite all fandoms together and I just don’t think he can deliver on that. They tried to do that with Joss Whedon and it failed to the point it damaged the DCEU.
Agreed with the Whedon comment. What was the rush to bring in a director to take over Synder who had the vision and totally butcher JL. Greed. DC just wanted it out to reap the benefits of the box office. Synder should have been allowed his bereavement, clear his head and unleash JL to the world.
I didn't care for Black Adam, but everything James Gunn is doing so far is awful. Yes, there is no problem with rebooting a franchise that has struggled. In fact, that is the BEST option at this point. However, you can reboot things - while still keeping key actors or versions of certain characters around. Gunn's scorched earth policy is a MAJOR mistake, and is pushing away the only fans DC had to began with. People forget, but not every DC movie was a bomb. And not every DC character was bad. The real issue was that most of the films had awful screenplays and weak directional leadership. Henry Cavill was a perfect Superman, for example, but was severely let down by scripts. When it comes to comic book movies or any genre that has a passionate fan base, it's important to build off established and beloved characters to respect your audience Walking into DC and destroying everything that has been established is just a slap in the face to the fandom who have been loyal this whole time (despite all the ups and downs). It's especially a bad look when Gunn is keeping his own projects alive, and being hypocritical by allowing some heroes to have "stand-alone films separate from the main lineup", while not allowing others. Again, I know DC was struggling and wasn't doing as well as Marvel. But the DC films still had a massive fan base, and had successful elements to it. Gunn should have kept the good things that people had already been invested in, and then cut the rest of the fat to do a reboot. But instead he's just torn everything down, and is shocked when millions of fans are upset and angry about it.
Agree with you about the outcry. Gunn and Safran aren’t the only ones who are Passionate about DC and it’s characters: no need to be disrespectful, agree with that, but you get more bees with honey than with vinegar.
I agree wholeheartedly with you bro. I actually am in the camp of no reboot. I'm gonna say why. One of the things that DC has been good at is their casting. To just wipe that out just because of WB themselves not having a true plan for the universe is bullshit. I actually would be fine with a reboot only if they were keeping the actors.
DC has been good in their casting? Ezra Miller, Amber heard, Jared Leto. Like seriously? DC has been dead ever since that abominable josstice league came out. I support James Gunn, a reboot is long overdue.😂😂😂
@@kingkashi5151 So you're going to mention those but not the really good castings like Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Mamoa, Margot Robbie, Dwayne Johnson, Joaquin Phoenix, and countless others? No I don't support a reboot and I don't support pedos. James Gunn needs to bounce 🤨🙄
I have never seeing a studio in such disarray like James Gunn in Peter saffron's "DC Studios" where they can even say what they want to say because the Warner Brother hydrops doesn't want them to reveal the truth. Batman Forever and yes even the awful Batman and Robin to the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy. Then you had the Richard Donner Superman films to the one shot Bryan Singer Superman Returns and then finally Green Lantern.
Great video man you are always on point. I think there is another worry. @4:25 I think it is important that you made the distinction between the different factions of people who are upset. There are the Snyderverse fans, the Henry Cavill fans, and the people who simply didn't want to see a full reboot of the DC universe. Sometimes people want to lump in the different groups into one thing and act like they are all mad about the same thing but that isn't true
Excellent breakdown and analysis of the current state of DCU/DCEU 🙌🏻 Not an enviable task, especially since the current regime is inheriting all the previous regime's blunders and missteps... but unifying the fandom should be the top priority.
I'm sure Gunn, as both a director and writer, looked at the current state of DC in its entirety and could not foresee a future of movies to come. Therefore a reboot is required to create and establish a properly formed, fluid and connected universe. I myself as a fan of DC and a amateur screenwriter, reading/ studying multiple books and spec/ shooting scripts, I understand from his perspective. You are correct. DC is a mess regardless of being teased of Cavill's return as Superman giving fans false hope. IE Joker was an incredible movie but why was it forced not to be connected to the DCEU? He's an arch enemy of Batman, yet the movie itself created its own universe as well with Matt Reeves' The Batman. As for The Rock/ Black Adam, the director/ direction was the problem having no vision. The script was weak and highlighted The Rock portraying Black Adam, not Black Adam as a DC character like Cavill or Affleck did with Superman and Batman. As I mentioned on a previous post, it was an action movie, not a comic book adaption like Man of Steel. The Synderverse continuation can only be blamed on DC management (prior to Gunn) who had no clue how to maintain the DCEU and move it forward. They were greedy for money after seeing Marvel 10 steps ahead of them while they were just starting out again. Was Superman Returns not supposed to be a start of new DCEU following Reeves' movies? Yet they tanked it, regardless of it being good or not, and waited 8 years to release Man of Steel. Another prime example, Batman and Robin with its fluorescent environment and Bat-nips. Thankfully Nolan gave us Bale/ Batman Trilogy which you would think DC had smartened up and were headed in the right direction, but they had no plan in place from the get-go (IE a DCEU Story Board containing all the key DC Characters), whereas Marvel did (I'm assuming) starting with RDJ as Ironman which setup the entire Marvel Universe. Another great post @The Kool Section. Everyone, including myself, were anxiously waiting for the conclusion of the Synderverse, however at this point we will just have to wait and see it unfold going forward
But on the other hand it's my understanding that not very many people were all into the dceu so I don't know why it's a problem that he's trying to reboot it all or go a different direction and at the same time all the footworks been done for the old DCU so we wouldn't have to go through all that origin s*** again

I felt he was a great Black Adam. But the movie sucked. Poorly written and VERY bad choice of villains. To use the Intergang and that stupid demon guy at the end was just dumb. Why use a group of guys that shoot guns at a man that is impervious to bullets instead of using someone that can give him a real fight. As for the heroes, I loved Hawk Man and Dr. Fate. Atom Smasher was...ok. Think they could have wrote him better. Nothing against a female roll, but that girl character was boring. Should have made her someone else. I would welcome the idea of Rock coming back at some point.
Bro, there's no way that group are the only ones doing that. The Fire James Gunn hashtag has to be one of the most disrespectful things someone could say towards him & I saw people saying it for more reasons than what your referring to. Some did use the usual hashtag to restorethesynderse, but I saw many who had gripes for the reasons I mentioned.
@@TheKoolSection Youre choosing to make it about another group. James is talking about ONE group. There is no other groups. They may be small factions of people, but NOT an identified group like the SnyderCult
The only option is to reboot. If the new DCU movies are good eventually those fans who are on the fences or in opposition of the reboot will eventually come back. If the movies are NOT GOOD, James Gunn and his partner will get fired and we start over again. It is as simple as that. For now lets all just wait for the January movie slate and plan for the DCU. NUFF SAID!!!
Ppl may sit home to start. But if Gunn hit and critics rave, the fans will be back in droves. It's a gamble, but Gunn strikes me as a person who goes all in.

And DC movie I'm done I can't keep on hoping for something that never gonna happen gun will not be able to run a studio he has too much twitter fingers and I'm not interested in a young Superman or Batman
Scrap entire cinematic universe, but still plans to release "Velma" ... I can't imagine hating money and your fans that much?!?
I felt he was a great Black Adam. But the movie sucked. Poorly written and VERY bad choice of villains. To use the Intergang and that stupid demon guy at the end was just dumb. Why use a group of guys that shoot guns at a man that is impervious to bullets instead of using someone that can give him a real fight. As for the heroes, I loved Hawk Man and Dr. Fate. Atom Smasher was...ok. Think they could have wrote him better. Nothing against a female roll, but that girl character was boring. Should have made her someone else. I would welcome the idea of Rock coming back at some point.
I have moved on LONG time ago. Honestly I gave up on DC for a long time. These directors trying to go woke.
I see where you're coming from. Did you put anything in it's place?
Don’t think anyone is going to miss the rock as black Adam….he’s a terrible actor anyways
Bruh, there only ONE GROUP he is talking about.
We know what that group is.
We're entering the James Gunn verse.
This is what DC needed.
SAYS NO ONE!!!!!
So it needed to be dead on arrival.
Got you. Say no more.
Honestly if anyone can build the universe it’s James Gunn
DUDE, HE DESTROYED THE UNIVERSE!!!!
So true, I’ve been watching every movie at theater just to provide support, with what he did I’m sitting at home and waiting for him to crash and burn. It’s those of us that went that supported DC, so don’t care and won’t even watch any DC movies going forward.
I tried watching Black Adam 2 times and couldn't get through it. I love the Rock but this movie was not good.
It wasn't amazing by any means
