Christmas 1982 ..40 Years ago today. One of the best Christmas presents (EVER) mine was almost the exact same as above. My handlebars were different, chain was black and silver as well as a black and silver seat post. Such an awesome bike thank you for sharing.
Had one in 1985; got it for Christmas of that year. Had a great time with it; until in 1987 my cousin took it for a ride and it came back with a bent frame.
Had the Viper way back - better than the PK Ripper I later bought - smoother, better on the jumps. Those bars were very comfortable. The forks were raked out so much kids thought I'd bent 'em.
This was the first and only BMX I had in early 80s. I had renthal seat post, CW bars and black skyway mag wheels on mine. Loved my Silver Streak 2. Mad I let it go as it has a small crack on the fork :( I hope it is renovated and somewhere alive still. It was in North Devon area Lee Bay / Ilfracombe area when I had it.
This was my first brand new BMX!!! I bought it in 1983 Almost and exact replica except for the wheels... Great Build Guys This Bike Brings Back So Many Great memories!
DBII I seen back in 1984. It was in the top 5 sellers for bmx bikes in the city I lived in at the time. I loved the DB series bmx. I owned a neon pink kuwahara myself. Great bmx
Rode a diamondback cool streak for several years in my teens before changing to a silverstreak... I loved diamond back in the late eighties and early nineties!..
i had a silver streak exactly like that one here in buenos aires, i bought it from a school mate who grew up in los angeles and moved to buenos aires... the best bike i ever had... great memories
I built one of these with all modern components, profile sealed 3 piece with a cult 25t sprocket and odyssey pc pedals, 1 inch answer threadless fork with matching headset and stem, odyssey 10-4 bars, 1inch gyro with bottom cable routed through the diamonds on the front of the frame, 990 adaptor plate on the back with odyssey Springfield brake and lever, odyssey slim by four brake pads, sun city lite wheel set with 14mm to 3/8 flat axle on the rear and 9t cassette, straight seat post and an odyssey junior padded seat, shadow conspiracy half link chain, shadow conspiracy banger grips, and a new school diamondback sticker kit. I'm looking into getting a diamondback strike zone or hot streak to build up next
I always wanted a Diamond Back, but my parents bought me road bikes, (racers), instead. I was out taking a walk in the local countryside a few weeks back when I found an old Diamond Back frame in a stream. Just about to start building it up for my daughter into a proper 80’s machine now she’s almost grown out of her other bike. She’ll be the coolest kid in the valley when she’s riding round on that.
@@frazerguest2864 yeah i would do the same. And I'm only trying to persuade my daughter so I can get myself one too. Would love to see pics when you get that rebuilt
Bubba Zenetti : I’m aiming to get it done by next spring. However, I’m sure 101 other things will get in the way. Usually work, keeping two old cars on the road, (a Jaguar and a Renault, so neither renowned for their reliability), more work, and trying to keep the Wife happy. If you can receive messages through RUclips, then I’ll send you pics and specs. I’m thinking a chromed frame, black pads, black mag wheels, basically early to mid 1980’s style BMX.
I have mine from 1982, along with all original stickers, pads, etc. I had Oakley B1B grips and FUAN 8 grips. (The bear trap pedals, pads and cables in your build are not period correct.) You did a great job with the build. The redline tires look cool. I still have a row of toothmark holes in one of my knees from the pedals. Your bike may be a 1982 model as it looks just like mine. Great job on the build. I will need to rehab mine.
I had the same frame in the early 90s . It was given to me by a older cousin. Other than the sproket I didn't have any original parts for it. I used spare gt and redline parts to build it back up . I loved that bike and rode it throughout the 90s. I handed it down to one of my younger cousins as it was handed down to me
Our whole posse rode Diamondbacks back in the day, Me and J-Dog had Hotstreaks, buddy Pete had a cool streak and ole Oakheart had a cool streak just like this one, well the frame any way. We pimped it out for freestyle, pegs skyway rotor.etc. Good memories thanks.
My brother and I for Christmas 1983 both got diamondbacks. I got the Silver streak and he got the viper. I really wanted a PK Ripper because here in San Diego that bike was the sickest in my opinion. Sweet channel brother!
Redline Cranks n Sprocket.Either Black,Gray Or White Z Rims.Shotgun 2 Seat w/GT lean back Seat posts.And Everything would be just Fantastic.But it’s still Good seeing this Old 80’s Classic Again.Loved Diamond 💎 Backs.😎
Alot of the style in the frames and tricks has flown out the window, I like building older bikes with all new components and new bikes to look like the older bikes but with the feel of new
I have one. Bought it brand new from Pedal Pushers bike shop Jacksonville Florida in 1983. I’m 50 years old and still ride it. Could use a little freshen up though.
I had a diamondback venom pro when I was 11 and was my 1st bike shop bike. I have 2 Diamondback bikes now n still love them. Great bike company that's been around for years!
I had the exact bike, except my bike had a white frame. The forks were eventually busted by me by to many jumps Lol. GT forks were put on, along with GT handle bars, seat post and of course, white Skyway wheels. Great video, thanks for posting.
I still have my diamond back, this model bought in 1983... came with different components on it stock, possibly from bike shop upgrading some items on it or building it custom.
You are BMX GURU EXTRAORDINARY!! Officially,I have seen all your videos,up-thumbed everything.I will be visiting CANADA one day,for HARVESTER purposes only!!
I am totally jealous of the condition of your decals, I wish mine were that pristine! The bike is not mid 80s tough, they're early 80s. I believe yours is an 83, as is mine... 82 and earlier had a DB decal on the head tube, 83s had the snake, and I don't believe they were produced after that. At least not in the original factory in Asia, identifiable by the "baseball" in the serial number that isn't really a baseball. Original seat posts were fluted, so the post isn't original, but that's a minor detail in comparison. Those Arayas are $$$$! I'm looking at going with time period correct mags on mine cause I just can't afford those 7xs. Nice build bro!
not sure, but 10 years ago i seen a website you can buy original sticker reproductions for this bike, you could have frame re-chromed and make it like new again. My DB is from 1983, has the snake on head post, came with rear brake only, not front brake like this build.
I always respected Dimondback bitd, the only thing I would add is either set of 3 piece Redline or Profiles to truly complete the look. I could bend a set of 1 piece in a month so I upgraded my Skyway TA XL and Redline RL-20 to Redline/Sugino flite 400s cause back in the mid 80s that is all I had access to. Nothing looks better than an old school bmx with a solid set of 3 piece cranks imho!.
I wanted one back in the day, no one had it in my town. I ended up with a Quadangle the got stolen a few months later. I couldn't have anything nice back then.
Yo I got a chrome schwinn thrasher with white sky way tuffs and white and black checkered pads and mustache bars and v bars also have bear trap pedals and normal pads for the mustache bars its nice
I ended buying a used one in the mid 80s pretty beat up, I managed to get all the original stickers for it from our home town bike shop and and made look decent until I beat it up some more😎👍
Hay I got a question does anyone one else notice why the silver streak is smaller then the other version with the smaller diamond brace I have a normal size crank arm set on my two different diamondback bikes and this exact silver streak I hit my feet with the front tire when turning it's not got a correct size distance. kinda sucks its such a nice bike but had a flaw because of that.
What happened with diamondbacks bmx line? I can’t find anything about them being discontinued. When I was 8, around 2006, I got my first bmx. It was a Diamondback. Then two years later I got another diamondback. I stopped riding when I was 15/16ish and sold them. Recently got back into bmx again and can’t seem to find out what happened with diamondback.
diamondback was the underdog brand so it was my favorite i only had a DB frame but it was mine and i washed that bike every night it slept in my room with me. my brother had a redline all tricked out for street tricks and my best friend had a p.k. ripper and his older bro had a slick kowoaharaa racing bike
Do you have Facebook page!? Because I want to know what is bmx I have and I will send you my picture of my bmx bike because I don't know what is bmx is this!?
im confused why wouldnt a old school survivor bike like this be already put together, and where do these guys get these survivor bikes? and how much do they go for.....first time seeing a Diamondback so tricked
Does Harvester have stickers.I was on your site today. You know, salivating. But wasn't sure if there was a Harvester sticker out there. If not, with your permission I would like to fabricate one for my Diamondback. It would be the finishing touch.I'll even out a link description on it.Thank you bud. You're videos are my all time favorite.Watched all of them so far.The "IT" bike is my favorite.

Beautiful. Diamondbacks didn’t become popular by accident. Good bikes, classics now

Dude, the hologram stickers on their frames is what I really liked.. they stood out on the trails and the track..
So classy. Old skool Diamondbacks are top shelf. Lambos of bmx
I always wanted a Diamond Back, but my parents bought me road bikes, (racers), instead.

That's cool man. Good dad. I'm trying to persuade my daughter towards bmx
Bubba Zenetti : Mines going to have no choice. If she doesn’t want to ride it, I will.
@@frazerguest2864 yeah i would do the same. And I'm only trying to persuade my daughter so I can get myself one too. Would love to see pics when you get that rebuilt

I’m in the process of building one of these right now !!! So psyched that turn out beautiful!!!!

I used to drool over the advert in the BMX magazine when I was a kid

Love your vids. Keep up the good work 👍

I have an all original ‘85 Viper that I’ll be working on this summer. Probably going to put some Tuff 2’s instead of the rusted out chrome originals.
My first real bike. Love these vids. so many memories. The 80's had such great BMX and Freestyle bikes!
Alot of the style in the frames and tricks has flown out the window, I like building older bikes with all new components and new bikes to look like the older bikes but with the feel of new
ya the 80 love the bike, now ah day bike suck
I have one. Bought it brand new from Pedal Pushers bike shop Jacksonville Florida in 1983. I’m 50 years old and still ride it. Could use a little freshen up though.
Had the ‘83 Viper bike as a kid. This was the bike my best friend had. I was a little jealous. I may look to grab a streak now in my late 40’s.
Love it man. Had one when I was a kid. Hope I can find one for my kid.
I had a diamondback venom pro when I was 11 and was my 1st bike shop bike. I have 2 Diamondback bikes now n still love them. Great bike company that's been around for years!
So cool i had the same bike as a 14 yr old , first frame and fork i bought at first job.
i got my old silver streak....wish i had the funds to restore it. love that bike
I had a diamond back ,chrome life !
I had the exact bike, except my bike had a white frame. The forks were eventually busted by me by to many jumps Lol. GT forks were put on, along with GT handle bars, seat post and of course, white Skyway wheels. Great video, thanks for posting.
My neighbor had one. And it rode smooth! I've always wanted one of my own, I wouldn't fit on one now lol
I had one back in 1983 when I was 13 years old.
Absolutely amazing! I've always wanted this bike.
You and me both!
I had a silver streak way back on the day, had the double tube crank arms
Sick build. Dont like the cables tho. The DB has tons of diamonds and points and the square checkers throws that off. Just my .02. Great work.
Diamond back pro star was my first bike back in early 80s bought from local bike shop in Sheffield UK 👊
I still have my diamond back, this model bought in 1983... came with different components on it stock, possibly from bike shop upgrading some items on it or building it custom.
That’s a great looking bike! Never had one of those.
The standard for style was set in the 80s and has never gotten any better
Keep up the great work bro.You & your crew rocks!!!!
It was one of my favorite bikes i ever owned.
You are BMX GURU EXTRAORDINARY!! Officially,I have seen all your videos,up-thumbed everything.I will be visiting CANADA one day,for HARVESTER purposes only!!
🤯 I have two , one is a bare frame. 👍🏻
Love this build. 👍👍
needs a set of profile redline flights to set it off.....
Beautiful!
When that bike came out it was the best bike for the money
How about the Harry Leary Turbo ? Loved that smoked finish.
Wow positively jealous!
This was my dream bike as a kid!! Nice!!
Sick build , what a great bike.👍
Nice bike..have a 84 viper myself..my favorite..looking for a new build soon..

i bought myself a 84 diamondback formula 1. 360 bucks in 1984 was alot of money for a 15 year old teen.
Clean build
I wanted one back in the day, no one had it in my town. I ended up with a Quadangle the got stolen a few months later. I couldn't have anything nice back then.

It's an 83. Had one then and have one now.
your right, I was thinking 82' my neighbour had the identical one, might have been 83' though, wicked ride
I ended buying a used one in the mid 80s pretty beat up, I managed to get all the original stickers for it from our home town bike shop and and made look decent until I beat it up some more😎👍
Good, apart from the brake cables, keep em black, much better looking

I have an all original diamond back silver streak in my shed 100% complete. Not sure what I'm going to do with it 🤔
I had a Kuwahara LL in the late 80's growing up in HK. A few of my mates had DB's.
Why was there a HK sticker on the frame?

Hay I got a question does anyone one else notice why the silver streak is smaller then the other version with the smaller diamond brace I have a normal size crank arm set on my two different diamondback bikes and this exact silver streak I hit my feet with the front tire when turning it's not got a correct size distance. kinda sucks its such a nice bike but had a flaw because of that.

Im terrorfied of those pedals lol. My shins and calfs are riddled with scars just from pc pedals. I'd never use beartrap pedals. Guess im a wuss haha

Nevermind,found the sticker section.
I sold mine for £10 when I wanted some beer as a kid.... Shit.
Pulled mine out of a dumpster and fixed it up then got beat up and robbed for it in Garfield Park
