A tad drunk and a tad high Daryl Davis's Boogie made me cry This didn't start in the juke joints. This music and the spirit of Mr. Davis as a musician and communicator have resonated throughout the unknown history of human kind. He plays the True Vine!
I'm 25 year old southern boy born and raised and was raised on blues, bluegrass and some rock. Then later I found heavy metal and fell in love. But my first love was the blues, especially the southern blacks blues. That stuff is what it's all about when your alone, just you and your guitar... Anyways, my point is. I wish so bad I could do a jam with this guy. Just to do a simple 12 bar in Em would be so much fun. I can tell he can really cook it with the right guitar player. It's not always about yourself, a good musician puts the music before the person. You can't always be the star. Muscians who understand this are very sought after.
What angried me the most about his time on JRE, apart from the racisms stories he told, was the fact that there are people don't know little Richard or Fats Domino.
saw his ted talk and loved his music and now hes just a great symbol bieng from a small cuban family not nowing a thing about racism im glad to be around to know theres a world with Daryl Davis in it
Amazing. This man not only plays well, he also reached out to and befriended some members of the KKK who have since left the clan and given him their robes as confirmation.
This guy should be given a megachurch type of structure solely dedicated to throw parties of integration/discussion where people of all clases Boogie to the beauty of America’s earnest and greatest, Daryl, the mind and the music; using the whole of the experience -from parking to their seat and back- to help us heal wounds of differences and INdifferences. All curated by our esteem friend, love and history. Daryl is amazing, and his way with people is as incredible as a pastor to his flock, and his only technique is truth, and darn good music.
I want to be this dude's best friend! Also, great JRE interview... the story about marching in the parade had tears welling up in my eyes. It is amazing how you took a negative situation and turned it into such a positive one without any resentment whatsoever. Thank you for your message.
His piano playing was so good Racists change their minds
thats his magic...
thats the role of art in society!
It's almost as if racists are human and should be treated as such.

So many people in the future will not understand this hahaha

Nate Allen haha true, a minor too. But since it’s jazz, he’s using tons of chromaticism...even if it were in c ;)

Outrageous dexterity. I can't help thinking that Darryl has an extra brain built into each elbow joint.
Tai Viinikka also looks like he could palm a pair of basketballs on each of those giant mitts, too.
An OG Darryl Davis fan.
Weird comment
Hey he's got a great smile too!

Piano playing so good it's ending racism
Actually true
"Everyone likes music. Even the Ku Klux Klan. I built on that." (Daryl Davis)
Some elevated spirits come to earth to make us evolve, this is one of them

Teenagers have no idea who bands from the mid 2000s are, it’s to be expected that most people don’t know even legends from 50+ years ago.
