Love your stuff, its absolutely great to see your work, and you're an inspiration to a lot of people I am sure, myself included. @@annettev8362 Yeah, that's understandable. It's dangerous to use a band saw with a cellphone in your hand.
Such a shame that an amazing trade won't be shared with today's youth.
Videos on wood working are all well and good. But there's so much more to experiencing it first hand.
The smell of the workshop. The smooth, warm feel of a fresh slab of wood about to take shape.

When you mentioned that you had that 6" square off your parents as a 21st birthday gift, it made me think back (I'm now over 50) about the few things I have left from birthday gifts over the years; a watch for my 11th birthday from my gramdpa, books, and tools here and there over the years..
That's all I have left. All of them are still in use. My 12 year old daughter wears the watch, has read most of the books, and used a fair few of the tools.

I love your workshop setup! I come from a farm background with loads of out houses but I flew the coop before I was 17 to serve my apprenticeship as a fitter in the big shmoke. I settled into urban life in East Cork but my greatest regret is we bought a townhouse 20 years ago with no back or side entrance so no possibility of a nice shed out the back that I’ve been hankering for for about the last 10 years! I am involved with my local men’s shed which gives me a space to do some tinkering but there’s no place like your own place! 😂
Well done for your honesty also when the box broke on you! You could have skipped that bit but by showing us it happened tells us something of your integrity. It happens us all! ( I thought it was just me.. 🤣)

Good show. My sister put this up on FB recently, and it reminded me of you. I hope it fits. . A poem I found. No author identified yet:
Beechwood fires are bright and clear
If the logs are kept a year,
    Chestnut's only good they say,
If for logs 'tis laid away.
Make a fire of Elder tree,
    Death within your house will be;
But ash new or ash old,
Is fit for a queen with crown of gold .
Birch and fir logs burn too fast
Blaze up bright and do not last,
it is by the Irish said
    Hawthorn bakes the sweetest bread.
Elm wood burns like churchyard mould,
E'en the very flames are cold
But ash green or ash brown
Is fit for a queen with golden crown.
    Poplar gives a bitter smoke,
Fills your eyes and makes you choke,
Apple wood will scent your room
Pear wood smells like flowers in bloom
Oaken logs, if dry and old
    keep away the winter's cold
But ash wet or ash dry
a king shall warm his slippers by.

We knew we wanted to go to Europe. I first thought Scotland, then.. Ireland 🇮🇪. We decided to buy a unseen Land Rover, had the man witch we were purchasing the vehicle from to pick us up from the Dublin airport. We then we’re gonna drive the ring of Kerry , See Ireland and the town We ended up on the county rather was county Kerry and it was Cork or Dingle. We didn’t really know which one that we wanted, but we knew that we wanted to be down in south Ireland and my dream was to just sit on the back porch see the ocean get drunk in the pub with an old Irish guy that I had no idea what he was saying lol and just be there, but life changed plans changed and I’m still right here in Georgia but just do know, it is a beautiful place and I absolutely will love to come there someday hope to see you there and I am very jealous 😂. The recording style and quailty really reminds me of those independent shows you'd see on PBS or the Science Channel bsck in the late-00, early 2010s.
And not's a really, really good thing.

Shotgun mics are going to sound way better and you won't have to deal with the cloth rustle, great solution.

That failure right at the end was so relatable, I don't know how many things I destroyed minutes before completion. Mainly acrylic fountain pens though. Small catches on the lathe.. 🙈

Great stuff. I feel like there's a good joke to be made about salty tears over the salt box but it evades me.

Perhaps it’s time to design yourself a small heat branding tool.
Something that you can stamp onto the base (or inside) these commissions that you’re there making.
Kind of a fun idea. Something that future craftspeople will find and identify as an item made by Eoin Reardon 🙂
Probably a bit of a pain, but you could even leave a little space where you could add in the date/year that you made the particular object/item.

Great videos, thanks! Try putting your light box a little off to the side / above the camera (experimenting with different positions is a good idea) the lighting is more interesting as the shadows cast look more natural.
