- This video is a continuation of a journey that began at Bahraich, a couple of hours earlier (video - • [Metre Gauge] A Relaxe... ). Our loco developed a snag at Nanpara, which necessitated the attachment of a second one in front. So, we had twin-YDM4s in charge from here on, except that only one was live. Enjoy the passage of the train through the Katarniaghat Wildlife Reserve as well as halts at Raibojha, Mihinpurwa, Kakraha Rest House, Murtiha, Nishangara, and Bichia. There are a couple of crossings as well - at Nanpara and Murtiha. The second train has an inspection saloon in cream-blue livery. Also, don't miss the smooth acceleration out of Nanpara with the track to Nepalganj giving us company for some time.

I enjoyed the journey. Lovely sound of the metre gauge train running at the peak speed of around 50 - 60 kms per hour.

What a ride! In an MG through a forest in fog - All of the ingredients for a docu-drama :) It seems all of the smaller stations rely on gensets for power. I wouldn't be surprised if the loco pilots see the local Dudhwa wildlife on occasion. But the real joy would be to travel in thay pretty inspection car! I hope they preserve this route and not gauge convert it.
Good observations! I did see gen sets at almost every station. Apparently, Bahraich-Mailani has been given heritage status. But with IR, you never know.
Still I remember the day when I travelled from Kolkata to enjoy this heritage railway from Mailani to Bahraich via Palia kalan. September 2019.

IR has no interest in preserving heritage. Some stupid assumption that conversion is equivalent to progress though there is absolutely no ROI analysis being carried on.

Only Nilgiri mountain railway, Darjeeling Himalayan railway and Kalka shimla hill routes are declared as UNESCO's heritage site and Mhow sanawad route I guess but definitely this is not declared heritage officially.

That is a points indicator light used when the points are not interlocked with signals. This is to let the driver know how the points are set (when it is dark).

They are a variant of the Center Buffer Couplers for MG rolling stock.
