  • Welcome to a very typical day in the life of a vanlifer around Mission Bay, San Diego! In this action-packed (and sometimes lazy) day, you’ll see me:
    0:35 Intro
    1:07 Mission Bay Run
    2:57 Cold Shower
    4:47 Reading
    5:35 Making Lunch
    6:50 Cleaning Security Camera
    7:30 Sudoku
    8:00 History Florence Chambers
    8:33 MNF
    8:57 Making Dinner
    8:38 Good Night
Go for a run on the beach to feel mildly productive.
Whip up some mouthwatering lunch and dinner in my tiny van kitchen.
Watch Monday Night Football like a true sports fan… from the comfort of my van, of course.
Take my One Wheel for a spin because wheels make everything more fun.
Wind down the night with an intense Sudoku session (because brain games count as self-care, right?).
Oh, and check out my dream home-with a lap pool-because a vanlifer can dream big!
If you’ve ever wondered what a laid-back, slightly random day in the life of a vanlifer looks like, you’re in the right place. Like, comment, and subscribe for more van life adventures, food fails, and big dreams!
    📍 Highlights:
Beach runs and post-run hunger pangs
One Wheel adventures around Mission Bay
    Sudoku-solving skills (or lack thereof)
Dreaming of living in a house with a pool (someday…)

I saw you there the other day. My wife and I like that spot after our beach walk to hang out and have lunch and watch the boats, kayakers and paddleboarders go by.

Great video! I’m on the east coast. But love Mission Bay. Been there a few times and also plan to retire there. Either with Van life or Boat life/ live aboard.

I'm pretty sure I saw you in the park that overlooks Mariner's Bason (where the do a lot of Dive Training). If it was you, you were exercising (doing squats, lunges, etc). We were anchored the for the night on our sailboat and I too was doing what one can can on a sailboat to try to keep in shape (squats, push-ups,...). We love to get off the dock and spend a few days in Mission Bay when we get out to our boat from the AZ desert in the summer!

Thanks for the comment. Yep, that was me wondering what it was like to be on one of those sailboats.

MB, PB, Shelter Island, all those places were my favorite van life places around Y2K. You really need to check into sail boats more b4 you get one. It is not glamorous at all. There is no way to get rid of mooring fees an being on the hook is a pain. Insurance generally needed if in the marina. The wind is always going the wrong way so motoring is a must. The acronym B_O_A_T "Break Out Another Thousand."

The signs at Mission Point Park seem contradictory. One sign says "Habitation in vehicle prohibited at any time" while another sign indicates that overnight parking is allowed. Do they let you stay overnight in your vehicle after the gates are closed?

Hey there! Nice to see another van lifer able to sleep in their van while in San Diego! I'm wondering, do you just close up your van while you're in MB and go to sleep? My son lived in his car for a couple years in San Diego but he says you have to move out of the Bay parking at 2am. Said one nite there were cops ushering cars out of the parking area . . . threatening tickets! I hope you can shed some light on this, as I may need to be in my car too soon : (
I hear there are some north county areas that are a "go" as well. Any info on this would be appreciated.
    . . . Thanks!

Stealth camping in the vicinity of San Diego is relatively straightforward, despite the fact that it has been prohibited since 2019 (SDMCode 86.0137). Enforcement is the sole issue. I maintain a modest profile and blackout my van before 9 p.m., and I have not encountered any issues in the past decade. I am in the process of composing a video on this subject, which I anticipate releasing in the next few days. This video will contain additional information. You will not encounter any issues if you maintain a low profile and demonstrate respect.

Eye hooks with multiple small bungee cords.
