OK, Thanks regards from Costa Rica.@@Karol235
Great work. Now I don't have to open up my 1020 to see how it works, thanks :)
Thank you
Well done Karol 👍👏🏻 Back To Life
Thank you
fantastic, i have a cal 1022 day date, amazing engineering, fantastic skill level
Thank you Peter !
Love Omega watches . I just found your channel . Do you also rebuild the bracelets as well ? Thank you for the great channel .
hello, thank you for your kind words. simple repairs and painting yes. no welding, and very complicated designs. I deal mainly with mechanics
Excellent.
Thank you
Great video, Love these vintage Omegas. Just curious that there seems to be two screws missing from the edges of the movement (I could be wrong but are they case screws?)
That's right, two screws holding the mechanism are missing. this mechanism was assembled in different types of cases. this model has a plastic centering ring, others have been screwed on
So what caused it not to work? While you were removing the hour wheel and cannon pinion, I see that the escape wheel and pallet fork were ticking (2:40). Were they freed up after hands were removed? Was the second hand stuck? I have interest in the 1020/1010 movement because I have them in my collection and I plan to service them myself, but was told that they are not very easy movements to work on (small screws and plastic parts easy to break).
hello, the watch has been lying down for a very long time. greases and oils have dried out. there was only dirt on the axles and in the bearings. by moving the wheels, the watch moved for a moment, but then it stopped
Waited and waited for a comment telling us why such a 'new' looking watch wouldn't work....found out in the comments
hello Kevin, mechanical watch needs to be maintained ( serviced) every 5 years. washed and new oils. the oils dry up over time, at some point there is nothing but dirt on the axles and in the bearings. and the watch stops. in extreme cases it can be damaged.
Regards Karol
Hi, thank for the lovely and detailed video. Can you please explain what is the mechanism you are demonstrating at time 13:36 - 13:46? I've never saw such before...is it a safety against a shock? thx again
Hi its, centre second pinion friction spring
@@Karol235 thx!
Nice watch and a great job. So was it just dirt that had stopped the watch?
yes, dirt and completely dried oils
do you know how to replace the bracelet on this seamaster. i have this but the bracelet was broke
you need the second one from omega, there is no other option
Great video, but I’m still trying to understand why the watch wasn’t running at the start. During disassembly the resistance in the train of wheels was high, but it still seemed high during reassembly. It seems likely that this would cause the watch to stop prematurely, as the power in the mainspring decreases to the point that it can’t overcome the resistance. So why didn’t it run at all? Many thanks!
hello, the watch stopped working because all the oils and greases are completely dry. it has not been serviced for many years. the resistance was so high that the escapement stopped working. too low amplitude, too much resistance on the pallet fork, completely dry and dirty balance bearings, too little power, dirty main spring is enough for the watch not to work properly and in many cases this is enough to stop it completely
Regards
Karol
What is the price now
wow

AFAIK the manufacture of 1020 ended about 1984, but that watch looks like it has been bought from the shop only to be thrown in the drawer and forgotten there to dry out for at least 35 years. A true collector's piece perhaps? ; )
Agrees with you, the watch looks like it has never been used. it is very possible that someone bought it and it just lay in a box
so why was the workings so stuck? I may have missed you pointing it out. Just lack of lube?
Exactly. the old greases and oils have dried up. there is only dirt in the bearings
When you first opened the watch, it looked like the case screws were missing. Is that right? I'm not a watch maker, just a video watcher. But it looked like there were holes where something was supposed to go. Either way, good work!
yes that's right, no screws to hold it, just a plastic ring. this model has such a solution, the mechanism in other types of cases was screwed down here, not
Your IG page is not working. Can you tell me where you are located and how much you charge for a service? Same movement as in this video.
hello, the link is working now, please see my work. the cost of basic service is £129 plus return shipping
IMO it’s safer to let the mainspring down using the winding stem. Also, never wind a watch using a screwdriver. The screw head might break, especially on a manually wound movement.
Thank You
What about new sealing?
This model has a teflon gasket, at the beginning of the video you can see me taking it out. has been installed back
hello
great video
Where are you located?
Hello UK
Love this watch but heard it's probably most unreliable movement. Can you tell me should I not worry.
hello, unfortunately these are not the best omega mechanisms. they are not bad, properly serviced they work very well

The heavy breathing in the right side of the headphones is a little off-putting That being said - lovely watch to restore.
forgive me, to work hard and I record with my face camera 10cm ... I'll think about it
I have a lovely Omega with a calibre 1010. Unfortunately my watchmaker has said the movement isn't worth doing. Hard to find plastic parts and a rotor bearing have apparently sealed its fate
I disagree, the parts are very easily available. just want to find it. is a popular mechanism are on the ebay auction . I have a few of them in stock, for parts. your watchmaker ... He did not want to repair or he did not know how
@@Karol235 im probably coming down on the side of not wanting to do it...
He/she probably wanted to try to make you buy a new watch from his store?? 😝
@@619mikeb it could be, or try to buy a damaged watch very cheaply
@@619mikeb i think it was more dis interest in doing the work
