Have the same watch ,purchased in 1966 and still going strong after a couple of services,main requirement was to replace the worn winding gears. Keeps great time 5 seconds perday not too bad for a 58 year old timepiece.

Hi Karol, I had another question for you. I just serviced a caliber 500, which is similar to this one. Regarding the mainspring winding parts you removed at 3:02... That part has a copper colored gear on top and a steel colored one below. The copper colored one rotates when you move the rotor, but the steel one below doesn't (I was trying to see if it would move the click to the next tooth, but it doesn't). Do they both independently wind the mainspring? Maybe the steel colored one only winds the mainspring when you wind the watch with the crown? Thanks!

Not sure why, but that is NOT an Omega Cal 505 movement in spite of the text saying it. The Omega Cal 505 is a 24 jewel self-winding automatic that should have a large rotor showing on this side. It would also have larger bridges and text stating the movement was adjusted in 5 positions, among other things also. I'm not sure which Caliber is here, but it's a manual winding movement.

Have you got any tips on how to pry the caseback off? I have a similar one, just like on yours, mine has scratches around the indentation as well which leads me to think it's not that easy. What tool did you use? For me, it seems like everything is just slipping out, no matter what I use.

I have this exact caliber and have it running well and serviced at 13 seconds fast. wondering how to down regulate it a little so it is more within the COSC.

As always a very instructive video. If possibile answer to two questions: why remove the caston (jewel) from the balance bridge before remove it? and what about removing the second pivot leaving in site the spring?

Great job! I have the silver dial version... silver dial, gold markers and hands. No quick-set function on this caliber?? I don't want to spin the hands to advance the date 10 days. Sometimes makes the cannon pinion get loose.

Did the dial originally come with lume from the factory or was this particular spec always without lume?

Hi, thank you for sharing the video. I have my father's Seamaster Cal 353, which he received from his father on his graduation. Given the history of the watch, my father and I would like to try to repair it ourselves. We are both hobbyists. Our concern is the lack of technical spec/repair guides. I have combed the internet and even tried going straight to Omega for them, only to have a partial tech one-pager with a list of parts written in French. Given your experience with this movement, can you recommend where I can find what I am looking for? Any guide, manual, PDF, book, whatever will be incredibly helpful. I am appreciative of your time. Hello, my De Ville will not wind up anymore. Both gray wheels (visible at 1:13) at the back spin when I rewind the pushed crown, but that is all. When I open the watch and pull the crown, the movement wants to start, but never strong and never long. Is there a way to further diagnose the issue without taking the movement apart ? Thank you !
