I lost the first two times I got to her second phase because she hit the Protagonist once with MA, which I survived due to the Dragon Ring, only for her to do it again right as she was about to die.
Agreed. I'm especially fond of the phase transition where she becomes Empty Mem Aleph, and how she sounds more angry in the Law routes compared to the other ones. Man, I love Strange Journey
For anyone struggling on this fight: Riot Gun + Charge + Gun Boost and Gun Amp on a good physical demon can melt through any boss in the game like butter.
This theme is exceedingly epic. I can't find a better suited melody to defeat a final boss, specially a threat as big as what Mem Aleph represented. The end of the choir, at least to me feels like a verse without it's lyrics.
Mem Aleph is the hardest Megaten final boss I've faced against yet even with all that grinding she can still kick your ass if the rng hates you enough.
As close as this difficulty spike comes to ruining the game, the experience of beating this boss, without cheats and using my own skill and strategies, is one of my favorite gaming memories.
In Redux, Holy Miracle/The Tyrannical Hero plays when you fight Pillar Zelenin and Soil Jimenez, so you only get to hear this against Mem Aleph. I think I prefer it being like that to OG SJ.
Man, still can't believe in my 2nd run of the game I beat her 1st try. My 1st run I passworded in demons that reflected everything. Granted I had a great team: haung long, amaterasu, and thor/quetzacoatl (thor kept dying to the instant kill)
When you're about to fight this last battle you be like: "Damn, I got my ass constantly kicked to oblivion during the last 25 hours. Maybe the game will reward me and make the ending easy for me afterall"... Then you get a Game Over after two turns.
@@dottalks8156 Yeah, but finding Phys and Gun users is pretty easy at this point of the game, especially since you'll have decent Strength even if you got a Magic build and Legshot is a Gun skill. Really, you should be using Strength in this game (conventional SMT wisdom is always to prioritize your main attacking stat and all of your skills are Strength-based unless you want to commit to medium damage until Horologium and a fuckload of grinding,) but Maya isn't that bad. She's not good, but she's not terrible.
@@dottalks8156 Maya was pretty easy though, although I was Law-aligned so YMMV. There's a lot of stuff in the 50s-60s that gets Grand Tack naturally or gives it through sources
Yeah like, while I think it's cool how the game encourages players to just pick a side and stick to it from the get go to have more power, the absence of the press turn system is really felt
I personally don't like the dungeons nor the characters very much(I still say Louis and Chaos Hero are the best Chaos Reps and that the only good Law reps are Amane and Satan), but SJ has a vision and it sticks to it, which I respect.
Ironically I like it because they had the guts to go back to traditional turn based even though they hit it big with press turns. They made something revolutionary and said “eh, we can still do it without if we want”. I love the co-op system and wouldn’t mind a comeback with some modernisation, but I realise I’m in the minority
Had to grind all the way to Level 91 and remake my entire party to have Shiva, Trumpeter and Vishnu in it but I finally beat Mem Aleph today. 8.5/10 game imo, go play Strange Journey if you haven't. Edit:I got the Neutral Route if anyone was wondering
Get a gun with mourn bullet skill. See if you have a ring that boosts the gun attacks. Grind with with your character alone so you get all exp instead of being divided by 4. You will delete everyone on sight. Craft “dragon ring” to protect you from a specific attack of her. This should help you……. Unless if you’re playing Redux
@@DarkJ1425 I know I’m a bit late here but I genuinely didn’t know EXP from battles was split amongst the party. If I ever play SJ again I have to do that and I’ll have you to thank when I beat it.

MA's voice actor in SJR really did a fantastic job. The line delivery as well as the battle quotes add so much to the grandiosity of MA.
