This was the worst possible collection and display of data I've ever seen. How can you take the average of one thing, then pit it against the highest or lowest of one EU country. Almost all of this data was grossly misrepresented. I can tell you personally, as I've been touring Europe for almost a year now, that each country is vastly different from one another economically. I've seen Bulgaria and Romania with some of the lowest GDP, have better quality of living than those in places like the UK with a much higher GDP.
Probably because calculating the average of every single one of those metrics for 28 countries would be alot of work. And of course every country in Europe is different, as is every state in the US. The difference between someone living in NYC and someone in rural Alaska is probably way bigger than between someone in Amsterdam and someone in Brussels. So these comparisons always misrepresent many individuals on either side.
Soff1859 you can´t compare the difference between Brussels and Amsterdam with the difference between NYC and Alaska, because Brussels and Amsterdam are really close to each other. You should have said Sankt Petersburg and Granada and than I guess the difference in culture is much higher in Europe (espacially if you compare small regions with their neighbours). Of course the differences in climate and geography are high in the US, too. But when it comes to shopping it is very much the same everywhere because the have few big companies all around the country

But after three generations of high birth rate and immigration into Europe, those enclaves have grown in size and number into "no go" zones (55 in Sweden alone) where Sharia law displaces civil law and has begun to challenge the Judeo-Christian foundation of their host European nations Sharia law is taking root in Germany, Sweden and other European nations that threw open their doors to Muslim refugees, who are forming "Sharia Police" to patrol, impose and enforce Sharia law on their host nations' streets. Keep your head in the sand kid!

@Moulya: Complex question: Russia is a member of a small institution called "European council". But not member of the Schengen Area, the Euro Zone or the European Union. Despite this: western Russia had a part in most european events in history (including Napoleonian wars and World Wars). During the imperial era, Russia adopted French as an official court language for diplomacy. So yes: Russia is kind of european, in a way... But don't tell them so.
I don't like how they handled Europe. The EU is not all of Europe and then singling out European countries to make comparisons instead of calculating out averages of all of Europe yourself.
The problem is that the data isn't collected across all of europe, so you couldn't actually get an accurate average even if you tried. Even if the data was available it would still be EU-centric because the EU would be the one collecting the data. To the average american europe constists of maybe a dozen countries, most of which are in the EU anyway (UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, and maybe Denmark and Belgium if they remember they exist).
I think IF this channel had tried harder to collect each individual European countries data-or as much as possible- and compile it on a spread sheet and do the maths for averages themselves it would have at least shown they cared about actually comparing ALL of Europe to the USA.
Let me tell you this.. Nowadays, people just wear regular clothes. The video wanted to compare to see how alike the people are, but made sure to make them look ridiculously different.
Similarly, as a man, I'm outraged that the little stick-figure guy on mens' room signs doesn't fairly represent my head type. I feel that men have been characterized by this generalization in a way that is overly simplistic; not all men have perfectly round heads, so I seek to promote awareness. You can join our movement by donating to the MDMHT foundation. That stands for _Men Deserve More Head Types,_ but we're still working on the acronym.
yes! There are not just Bavarian people wearing Lederhosen, that green hat with the bird feather, drinking beer and eating pretzels in Europe, there are so many different cultures that it would just be better to give the avatars normal modern-day clothing.

(i feel like my sentence structure is kinda weird, so please understand that english is not my first language)
Nej not to mention the fact that all this video talks about is statistics and no policy. EU member states have free or at least very cheap healthcare and education, there are EU norms that are strictly enforced to prevent things like "cancer apples" (the EU banned apples from the US because they had a compound that causes cancer). Also, even though american people make more money, in EU the essentials tend to be a lot cheaper. This video also fails to account for rent and real estate and rent prices, medicine prices, minimum wages, work laws (how easy it is to fire someone for example), average education, the amount of homeless to non homeless people, drug related stats, crime rates, etc. I can probably think of some more things that would be relevant. Not all of these may validate my opinion, but I believe the EU to be a lot better. I'd also like to speak for Portugal, because even though we have a big economic disadvantage, we are at the top in a lot of aspects (human rights, ecology, tourism)
but the problem is that it's not easy to compare a country to europe because there can be a lot of differences in europe. you're literally comparing a continent and one country here
LittleLulubee it's still a country and not a continent and multiple countries. Other countries have a federal system/different regions with major differences too but it's not comparable to a whole continent with let alone 24 different lamguages spoken
University is free in Norway aswell, but I think I know where your research went wrong. You searched for "university cost in eu". EU stands for the european union, not all countries in Europe are a part of this. Norway isn't a member of this union, but had a deal that still grants them the benefits of being a part of the union.
Robert Ridley When you are very small so you make fun of someone for misspelling something they know how to spell, but that's okay, use typos to feel larger.
He had to represent the EU in some way. Whats the highest population in the EU? Germany. What does a stereotypical German look like? Boom, there ya go. Sure most Germans dont look like that, however this whole video is a generalization as thats the only way to compare, so deal with it.
You are not comparing Europe when you are comparing "EU members". EU is a union, not a country, nor does it include all European countries. That's why you never mentioned Switzerland or Norway.
the US is a union of states, how is that any different? But mainly why they keep switching between EU and Europe is because EU keep many statistics while finding stats outside of the EU is hard to come by.
Commissar The EU is a bunch of sovereign states who try to cooperate and trade with each other, whereas the US is a culturally homogenous giant country that just uses states as administrative divisions.
Commissar Are you serious? The EU is not a sovereign entity like the US, and its member states are drastically different from each other in terms of culture, history, economics, and politics. The EU has 29 official languages and 43 recognised non-immigrant minority languages. Many European countries have existed for millennia, whereas the US aren't even 250 years old. Also, many countries within the EU are so-called "unions of states" (aka federations) themselves, like Germany and Austria.
Io If you think the United States is culturally homogeneous than you have absolutely no knowledge of the US or why exactly they have states in the first place.
You're comparing the U.S. as a whole to very specific places in the E.U. instead of the E.U. as a whole. If you're going to compare the most extreme of any European country, you should compare it to the most extreme of any American state.
As you can see, this is a deeply biased opinion. They didn't mention here the big african, indian, chinese or latin americans living on the States, not even mention the real owners of those lands the native, so what do you expect for Europe?
@Uncle Sam Yes, they are free. Private universities may charge a hefty amount, public universities are free though. I went through one myself and I have not spent more than just a few bucks for administrative fees.
@@mollusksaid951 I was unclear. Thank you for bringing that up! @Vintago, I am afraid you mixed up fiscal policy with monetary policy. These are separate things and have little to do with one another.
Are the professors volunteers or are they paid? If they are paid then university is indeed not free, its just not paid for entirely by the one purchasing the education. So going to university is form of theft from the fellow countrymen. But i'm fine with that.

The fact that this narrator refers to Europe as "the EU" exemplifies how little Americans know about the rest of the world. Or about anything for that matter.
Honestly, I think it's the other way around; he was consistently talking about only EU even when he said Europe. Or he would have mentioned that San Marino and Monaco both has US beat in vehicles per capita (and Iceland and Lichtenstein are close 4th and 5th after US).
Well, the simple answer is: No single European country can come close to compare to the US. It's as simple as that. When you compare America to Europe, you should remember that Europe includes 51 countries with different cultures.
I hate it when people do this. What's wrong with comparing each individual European country? Like, I know Europe and the US are pretty similar in size and population, making comparison easier, but come on. You can travel from the UK to France in less than an hour and the culture is completely different and just incomparible.

Allow me to explain why your education is cheaper (I assume you're from Europe). your dad, granddad, mother, father, aunt, neighbour, school teacher et cetera all paid for your education through taxes, in a lot of countries in europe where education is cheaper taxes are a LOT higher. So you might get your education at a bargain price, but you will be paying a lot more taxes your entire life, and so does everyone else in the country whether they went to university or not, there is no such thing as free money and 30k debt is NOT a lot of money over a period of 20-30 years, especially since us wages are higher as well.

Bulgaria seems really sat on that map haha
On A Whim Explorer that was crazyand prettyannoying

Nej not only that, the US is a country while Europe is a continent with 44 countries
Nej dude I like that explication in the parantheses I'm gonna copy that shit and use it xD

He had to represent the EU in some way. Whats the highest population in the EU? Germany. What does a stereotypical German look like? Boom, there ya go. Sure most Germans dont look like that, however this whole video is a generalization as thats the only way to compare, so deal with it.
All of EU would be German if not for USA.
Alex Herb AMERICA IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON THE GLOBE
Xond Xonderson Another 'huh we saved Europe's ass d00d', because fuck the Soviet Union amarite.
Yes, but US has a federal government and the states have no sovereignty

True
As you can see, this is a deeply biased opinion. They didn't mention here the big african, indian, chinese or latin americans living on the States, not even mention the real owners of those lands the native, so what do you expect for Europe?
So you want to compare a country to a continent? Right...
Plus UK is used multiple times but it's not really in the EU anymore.

It is because Americans "think" we wear them. The conclusion is pretty obvious: they aren't too good at thinking.
what's wrong with that? aren't u proud of your culture? ok maybe you don't wear these traditional dresses anymore but there's also no point in getting angry by that
Well this culture does not belong in every country of the eu/ europe , i mean this is not linked to the Italian , French ,Spanish etc.... culture . So in conclusion , no one wears them and its not really part of our culture anymore.
nani atticomsetti what do you mean, what's wrong? Then why are americans not portrayed as cowboys?
nani atticomsetti with that logic we should picture all Americans in an old grunt's army uniform or in rags, because is you want to generalize our past, why shouldn't we
I can't believe that u guys over there don't understand that there's no average European. The comparison of a German and an Italian is like the comparison of a Chinese and a Thai. The EU is not a country, it's an economic union and not every European country is a member. For example: Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Russia (Yes Russia is Europe too), Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Bosnia, Turkey...
But Austria is in EU.
Turkey is not Europe
Alex Sánchez It's very questionable and depends how you view on it. Some people will tell you Turkey is in Europe and some will tell you the opposite. None of these answers is wrong though.
Actually only Eastern Thrace (including a part of Istanbul) belongs to European continent...The rest of Turkey belongs to Asia.
Yeah but no other European country can compare to the US were too damn rich and big so we have to put you together and the EU which is most of Europe is seen as a country anyway
The EU is just better.
And just saying 1 reason why.
Free Health Care.
It's not free
Esketxd compared to USA. In France when you must stay 1 day in hopital you pay 10-20€
10-20€ per day? In Denmark you need to have some kind of health insurance card on you, or else you'll pay full price for the care you recieved
Ofbaserion if health care is more expensive in the USA, doesn’t that mean the conditions are better? The higher the cost, the better conditions.
KanzyMrEaglePlays you can’t expect that to apply with everything.
Americans are just Europeans that changed their name in Americans....
We've been apart from europe for 300 years and we have our own unique culture, and created pop culture so no we aren't

Well, the simple answer is: No single European country can come close to compare to the US. It's as simple as that.
