Clip Description:
The group is aided by members of the prime minister's own detail, including Dave Forbes (Dylan McDermott), a former Secret Service agent. Asher and several top officials are held hostage in the White House bunker; Prime Minister Lee is executed on live video. Before being killed, Agent Roma (Cole Hauser) alerts the Director of the Secret Service Lynne Jacobs (Angela Bassett) that "Olympus has fallen".
Movie Description:
Mike Banning is a Secret Service Agent who is assigned to the President and is close to him and his family. When there's a situation wherein the President and the First Lady's life is endangered and Mike can only save one of them, he saves the President. As a result the President has Mike reassigned to a desk job. A year and a half later, Mike wants to come back but the President, though not holding a grudge, is not ready to have him back. The President has a delegation from South Korea visiting. Shortly after they arrive a plane shows up and when it's told to land it refuses and when aircraft close in on it, they shoot it down. Eventually it crashes at the White House, that's when some people in the crowd pull guns and shoot the secret service agents. Then the Secret Service gets the President into a bunker. Mike who sees what's happening from his office goes there and starts shooting at the attackers. Later in the bunker, some of the people from the delegation pull out guns and shoot all the Secret Service agents. And outside all the Secret Service agents are killed and the shooters take over the White House. Eventually they call the Pentagon where the Speaker of the House is now in charge and the leader in the bunker makes his demands. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs tells the Speaker they can't give in but to prove he's serious he kills someone and will continue to do so till they give in. But what can they do. Mike, who's in the White House, eventually gets a special cellphone and calls them. He tries to do what he can first by locating the President's son and getting him out. He then goes to save the President.

You can shoot accurately with a pistol at 50yards pretty easily with training. Especially while shooting a stationary target while stationary yourself....

It's a great scene, but I got a bit annoyed by all those secret service people standing out in the open. That's a death sentence. They should have taken cover and then fired upon the invaders.

Antoine Fuqua is one of the best and most underrated directors of our time. Training Day, Shooter, Olympus Has Fallen, The Equalizer, The Equalizer 2 just to name a few of his amazing movies!
The whole plan relied purely on the US president not following protocole. And it worked. Genius.

I think this is a really well made scene where the producers actually put thought into how the white house could actually be breached by armed men
Yeah it's such an elaborate, planned, massive, multi-stage, military type assault that it makes some sense in the over the top action movie way at least. I think it's good to show the terrorists taking some casualties too which also makes it a bit more believable.
Only it's not. The U.S secret service would not allow by any means a tourist bus and tourists stay in front of the white house after they suffered a direct attack. Just the fact that there is a group of people standing in front of the white house after the same was shot down by a hostile aircraft is bogus.
Let's mention the fact that no aircraft, not even a cessna would get that close to the white house, that ac-130 is getting shot down even before it hits the city limits. Let alone Andrews airbase stand idle and wait to send more aircraft if the interceptors were to be shot down.
And last but not least, say that all went down and there are multiple armed hostiles inside the white house perimeter, the Secret Service would absolutely not go out of the white house to engage the enemy, they would lock themselves inside the white house and hold on until the National guard arrives.
And no, the Secret service would not allow foreign parties inside the president bunker, the president cannot override that protocol because when it comes to the POTUS safety, the secret service has the final saying.
All this movie only went down because the screenwriter that wrote this movie undermined NORAD, the Air Force and the US Secret Service by a long shot.

@@RyanStudios50166 i suppose you meant "when they're running". Well, as I said, dozens of men spraying thousands of bullets with machine guns.. Either the dog had access to the speed force so it was fast enough to dodge them all, or he had the dumbest luck ever and none of them hit him.. Long story short, he was never gonna make it through the field alive.
Tactically speaking it isn't all that bad an idea. The dogs can act as sacrificial pawns to harrass the enemy to buy you an opening.
I think it adds more to the realism. It's an all out fight use whatever you have. If a dog has any loyalty, or is trained, or is affectionate enough or any combination of the three. especially if it's a service dog like police or military it will attack to defend it's owners because it was trained to defend. That's why if you watch police dog training videos you will see the dogs are taught to DEFEND their handlers. Guns or not be damned that is their job. And you can also see the dog yolod into the fight on its own as it should. Nobody "sent" the dog in.
Same reason I think in horror movies I think it's BS the kids never die it just kills the immersion. Publicly that is a very big no-no / taboo / very controversial. But a monster or killer isn't just going to go through a room or something and kill everyone or eat everyone except for the ones under a certain age criteria because it has standards. It's just absolutely stupid. They don't need to be on screen deaths like us seeing it but we need to at least know it happens. Movies need to break these norms more often to keep that realism. But that's just how i've always seen it but I digress.

Totally believable. There are such motivated men+women and the garbage truck for me displays a particular flash of innovative thought. One thinks of the British Long Range Desert Group in WW2 sneaking hundred of miles across the desert then destroying Luftwaffe aircraft ibn the ground and massacring the officers in their quarters or - about the time this movie was being made - of the 2012 attack by the Taliban on Camp Bastion where the US lost eight aircraft.
