      You can even make new paths!

  • @caitlynwarrington8690
    @caitlynwarrington8690 6 месяцев назад +30

    You can also chart new paths to systems no direct pathway currently exists, but it costs 3 insight to get a red path. It really helps tie the far flung colonies without going through all of the different systems along the way. Its 5 insight to get the path to yellow and save a lot of time to get from one side of your holdings to the other. (at least in Alpha and Beta)

    I'd say the main thing is during Act 2, multiple story quests will force you to odd ends of the map, and if you wasted all your Nav points making multiple paths green, you can get softlocked until you spend 30+ minutes going in circles on yellow paths fishing for Nav points to happen from random Lore (Warp) checks that will happen at an extremely low chance. This is the only thing I have save scummed my way out of, because it seems the "random occurrences" you receive from going down yellow paths is actually determined many jumps beforehand.
    For instance, you save, head down yellow paths nonstop and the 9th jump gives you a Lore (Warp) check, if you fail the check and reload, the 9th jump will be a Lore (Warp) check again and you can try to pass it. Getting stuck like this was infuriating by the way. I spent hours trying to figure out how to get more Nav points so I could actually do the story quest it was asking of me.

      Same problem where i am at now. I will give it a try with orange and red paths. Because i cant do anything else right now, i destroyed all enemy fleets, built all colonies to the max and placed extractors on all available planets. I just need these points to get on with the main quests. And i wish i knew that before. Stuck in act 2 with Level 30 characters lol....Edit: Holy crap it worked after 5 minutes. Got 6 Insight after an warp riff event.

    One tip that I learned, you can create a line path between faraway places, by selecting the destination and doing the mapping there. It'll give you a red line, but also that direct path. I use that between foothold and say for example Janus.

      Love this. I saw this option but I never chose it when it was popping up as until recently I was always low on navigators insight. and you do want to get to each system at least once for exploration purposes. But I do like the idea of sacrificing ~6 points for direct shortcuts from colony to colony when you have a surplus. However, do remember that traveling from node to node is how you pass time for colony development.

    • @ctged
      @ctged 6 месяцев назад +3

      I have done more than half of the optinal systems on Act 2, or at least that's what the game tells me (it might be buggy). But at the moment, I'm on 20+ surplus on the insight. I keep all the lines (that I use) yellow. Mostly just for the sake of those extra insight pickups. So far, only one Khorne invasion during a jump.

    It's really something I wish the game would've told us not to make any path to systems green. I'm out of insight so I'm basically grinding yellow routes in hope I can gain some.

  • @zomgpremade

    Traveled exclusively on orange lines. Ended up being 36 before the end of act 3. Sure you need to repair the ship a bit, but more often than not, you'll encounter a random combat which is very easy. I never got any drawbacks other than ship damage. Unless you're kind of roleplaying something, i basically advise the opposite of what is recommended here, go only through orange.

    • @danielbob2628
      @danielbob2628 4 месяца назад

      I generally avoided orange and red lines, and I'm just reaching Exemplar during Act 3. I don't think a few extra levels is worth all that grind.

  • @Shadow86TheGamer

    Think of it like a highway, distant places should be green, also, he didn't explain here but you can create a route from one point to another for 3 insight points. Doesn't matter the distance, it's always 3 points BUT it will create it red then you have to spend even more to lower it. But you can basically unite one part of the map to the other.

  • @Dan-uf2vh
    @Dan-uf2vh 16 дней назад

    There are a couple of colony projects which improve the costs and they seem extremely overpowered (creating new routes costs 1 insight instead of 3, and for the other all paths are brough down to orange). However, these colony projects are mutually exclusive with others giving significant improvements to abilities or skills and, when you know what you're doing, the available insight is quite enough to get by, therefore a real shame that you should simply ignore these. They would make traversing the map a breeze, making highways everywhere.

      As far as I know, no. Unless your current quest is demanding punctuality.
      Also, apparently the Shadow Quarters quarantine quest can expire with time. But it's broken and stupid anyway.

    Did they change how often you get negative effects on yellow routs? I'm playing for the first time and i'm quiet deep into act two. I not even once had a yellow rout let me through without an event. For me it's about 50/50 between flavor text with a litte damage to the ship and straight up combat.
    I don't particularly mind the free exp, but it makes getting back to my colonies, because "ThE rOgUe TrAdEr NeEdS tO bE pReSeNt" a fucking chore.

    It will probably be patched soon, but at the moment charting new path between systems INCREASES your insight by 1 as if you've scanned a new system, so you can make an unsafe path dirt-cheap. Traversing unsafe routes results in detailed descriptions of mishaps, but it doesn't get reflected in game mechanics because crew is unlimited. I once lost a third of my crew in a single event and it didn't hinder my progression in any way, so you can treat unsafe passages as safe. No wonder Rogue Trader's ship is always on time, your means of transportation beats webway in convenience of having entrances and exits where you need them to be while remaining almost perfectly safe, it even surpasses necron dolmen gates because warp travel is free.

    • @Brazeniah
      @Brazeniah 5 месяцев назад

      Depends how far down act 2 you are. Have you unlocked all your colonies? If yes, you're probably buggered beyond repair. If not however you still have room to maneuver. First thing you want to do is get Dargonus (your capital colony) and rush for rank 2 project named Shield of the Emperor. That helps a lot for Space battles. Then, before entering any space battle, always save just before, so if you end up against too big an enemy fleet you can skip that fight and keep it for later. Also, always upgrade Hull first and foremost, and only upgrade the ram if you have a good grasp of the Ship's movement.

    The splash image for this video "avoid at all costs", well yeah the red difficulty warp route is in itself something you'd rather spend navigator insights on to reduce the risk in general, but that one in particular you should avoid at all costs because it is simply a waste of an insight. The maw is closed, we are cut off from the Calixis Sector; Currently, this route serves no purpose to the game except as a waste of navigator insights should you choose to spend them on it, travelling there will only result in a dialogue tree where any option other than "we're leaving" will result in you being told "no, are you crazy, we'll die, the maw has collapsed". You won't be able to reopen it until the very end of the story in Act 5 and depending on who is still alive within your possible companions, the paths you picked, the decisions you made and the development level of your realm, will impact the outcome when it is reopened or if it can be reopened and even then it serves no purpose other than post game ending dialogue.
    However, I imagine the route will come into importance with the second DLC which will introduce the Imperial Tithe which can only be collected through this singular "safe route" into the Expanse, which is currently as of the release version of Rogue Trader, closed off due to the events of the 13th Black Crusade impact on the regions near to the Eye of Terror.
