You know what sir, I've recently been contemplating wearing an ascot and so acquired a vintage 1960's green and brown paisley one from Ebay. It does look good I must say. The fact is you'll quite literally never encounter another man wearing an ascot so you've just got to get out there, overcome any self consciousness and wear it with confidence and swagger!
Great video. I just bought an Ascot tie and I can’t wait to put it on. Not too many men wear Ascot ties and I hope it remains that way to maintain uniqueness when going to a party where everyone’s wearing regular ties and you’re the only man wearing an Ascot tie.
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful to you. I wear them frequently and lots of folks think it's a formal accessory, but are floored when I tell them it's actually less formal than a necktie and bowtie.
Truly enjoyed watching this video. It’s remarkable how a simple addition of cloth elevates one’s style game. Many won’t try a ascot/cravat (or silk neckerchief) look because they lack the know-how or confidence. This isn’t about pretension. A cravat shows you care about your look and offers a classic touch of elegance to any man’s wardrobe. Patterns and color harmony offer a myriad of dynamic (never loud) or dapper touches. To me, it’s about creating a personal signature or touch and an understated touch of class, as gentlemen used to do when fashion was serious. Many thanks!
I must agree with you on from seeing that way back Cary Grant Ascot moment, to the amount of compliments you receive when wearing one. I’ve looked at many how videos, but by far appreciate yours more👍🏾
Well done Michael, I have four chest of draws all full of neck ties! So,I purchased an ascot for the first time, wore it to a meeting yesterday and received so many compliments! Most of the ladies felt it was an elegant look, and wanted to know were to purchase one for their husbands 😊 like the other commenters…you have the best user friendly approach to tying the ascot.
Hi, I enjoyed this podcast. I love garments that you wear around the neck. I own 11 silk and polyester scarfs, with paisley patterns. I now recently purchased my very first ascot from ebay; it's silk with paisley design and is a light green/yellow in colour. I intend to purchase another ascot soon. I like the different ways to tie them. I selected the third method to tie the ascot. I don't use the simple square knot or "overhand" knot like I use on my scarves. I don't know how to tie a tie, however, it's funny. I like all of them; scarves, ascots/cravats, ties, including a bow tie even, though I do not own a bow tie. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing! I love the versatility of this style, as you can create an edgy version of it as well. I've seen a lot of British new-wave bands implement an Ascot-tied scarf back in the eighties by combining it with a starched white blouse and a leather jacket!
I wanted to thank you again for this wonderful video. Most importantly, when you demonstrate the way to position and tie the ascot, you are showing something that is so very important: you're showing the way to use a gentle hand. That is what I have observed in your video. I'm an old man. My generation was taught to take out a lot of frustrations on the necktie. We used to make violently forceful knots that you almost could not undo later. Thank you again for teaching the gentle-handed way to tie a tie.
Sir, it has definitely been growing in popularity among the Black Family. It looks so well that I'm almost beginning to prefer it over any other sort of collar. The trouble is, I myself don't have a whole lot of choice over my collars!
Thank you posting this. Great tutorial! Just decided recently to wear an ascot.. the second method works for me... thanks for teaching me how to put an ascot on
I’ve worn an ascot before but enjoyed seeing the different methods… for years I only did the simply tie… but think I will try the third method shown in this video…
I just subscribed to your channel. I am very interested in wearing an ascot. I've been looking online at them. I normally wear a traditional necktie tie, however bow ties aren't really my thing and I'm trying to break my every day style and I think I'm going to start wearing more ascots. I think that's a style change that will complement my wardrobe. Brother you look great in yours, however I have a question. Should my pocket square also match my ascot?
Thanks so much for subscribing! 🙏🏾 I never match my neckwear and pocket squares. Mostly, I wear white pocket squares with a presidential fold as in the video. If you want to wear a pocket square with color, pick out the least dominant color in your neckwear and go with that color scheme on your pocket square.
Hi Steven. I prefer wearing an ascot with a coat or cardigan sweater, but I would imagine it's not necessary. I've seen photos of many men wearing an ascot without a coat and it looked just fine.🙂
Oh Sir, I utterly forgot my comments.... 1) You have terrific looks, and it is my estimation you could unbutton one more button if you felt like it. That would expand the ascot a bit at the chest. That also helps with making your neck look longer. 2) The ascot is heavenly under a crew neck, whether it's a sweater or a thick shirt. Cary Grant wore his under a crew neck long-sleeve tee ... but there he wore a scarf, not a shaped ascot. 3) Although I tell people to try it outside the shirt as a scarf, I would not recommend it for a gentleman in a coat. I have worn an ascot just inside my overcoat for convenience. That works well. If you want a short of ascot look outside a suit coat, a scarf is best. I have a very short neck due to an injury when I was young. I'm inclined to scarves instead of traditional ascots because they're easier to shape and comfortable -- and also much more secure.
Awesome tutorial I want to a wedding and the guys wearing the ascot stood out and I like to stand out they were nice enough to turn me on so I purchased several from Amazon can't wait to were mine and smell good and turn his with my classic look and smells
thanks Michael ,
gone through millions of videos until finally I found yours one is the best explained 👍🏼

Yes sir!!
There are a growing number of men embracing a more traditional old school style because it is just bad ass. Ascots, scarf ascot, fedora etc etc etc
Great video. I just bought an Ascot tie and I can’t wait to put it on. Not too many men wear Ascot ties and I hope it remains that way to maintain uniqueness when going to a party where everyone’s wearing regular ties and you’re the only man wearing an Ascot tie.

My thoughts exactly homie!

Q: what dress shirt collar type looks the best with an ascot.
What’s the trick to hiding one in a white dress shirt, since you can kind of see through it
Very good
Good morning I Steven from Singapore if we put on the Ascot must we wear a coat thk you.

Would you ever leave the tie outside of the shirt? Just inside the jacket?
Maaaann!... its 2024, and getting a job with a beard is a frigging nightmare! This is the solution to bring back a beautiful undershirt tie 😊
On which occasion we can wear Ascot, formal or casual?
