Yes on the Barrell blind!
Agreed
As a Louisiana native, Trenton got it right the first time. Boudin is pronounced "Boo-Dan".
Yes, you can eat Catcus. It's called Nopales and when cooked kind of like a green bean. Tasty.
Been watching this show for a while now and gotta say Kyle is going a great job with the edits, great to have info on the screen since Trent would never remember to add things he said he would 😂
I’m so glad y’all are enjoying that JT Meleck. I met Mia in Dallas last year at the Whisky Riot. I was immediately intrigued by a rice whiskey and was blown away at how good it was. I was able to pick up a Cask Strength Single Barrel in Dallas and it is PHENOMENAL! Who knew rice would make such a fantastic whiskey.
I'm waiting for a 5 grain
Corn, wheat, rye, barley, rice
Trent is like “we are not enjoying our time together. Send help!”😂
Haven't even watched the video yet but that Louisiana high proof is so darn good I am thankful to the RUclips community for putting that one on my radar for sure JT is phenomenal stuff
I'm in the baton rouge area and it's in most stores here. So glad they are doing so well.
Nice job guys! J.T. Meleck is very good... Remember... in Louisiana it's not how you spell it, it's how you say it. i.e. Don-da-by-ya = Down the bayou Cheers! 🙂
I loved the Barrell Craft Vantage, Dovetail got better after bottle opened for a month and the New Years 2024 blend surprised me with the dark fruits like raspberry, pulm and hint of blackberry - benefits from drops of water due to proof. Very unique craft distillery picking out great stocks to mix
As someone from Louisiana JT, whiskey, and vodka are delicious. They represent the state well. You both are knowledgeable when it comes to whiskey have yall purchase any barrels? If so, how can I buy a bottle from you? It would be awesome if y'all can work with a distillery or brewery to select barrels and sell it to your subscribers.
The Walleye is also pot distilled. That adds quite a bit of different flavor to it since we're all used to column distilled.
I've been into bourbon for a couple years now. Of all the bourbon channels I've stumbled across, yours is by far the best. No BS, no hyperbole, just honest opinions and great info. And a lot of good natured humor as well! I appreciate that as I learn more about whiskey. By the way, have you guys tried any of the Holladay products out out of Weston, MO? I live in KC and have access to most of their offerings. Wow, is their stuff good! Check it out if you can. Take care guys.
I always laugh at the way the “Notes” are described. “A dusty chalky Smartee note with honey.” “An old shed.” Always cracks me up and I am genuinely entertained by you guys. You guys have me hooked on this channel!
Definitely do more of these. I know what to expect from the standard stuff, I want to know more about products like these so when I come across them I know whether to buy or not.
Agree. Really enjoy this type of video!
Tried walleye at new Holland turned around and purchased a bottle
Really liking these shows, helping me build a future list 🙌
You guys are my go to for trying new Bourbons and rye’s. I have seen that walleye run at my local store and I’ve been hesitant to purchase it because it didn’t know anything about it so thank you very much for reviewing it and I’m gonna buy at the next time I go to the store keep doing what you guys are doing you guys are awesome thanks a lot.
Love that barrel 36! Been thinking about a ‘Budget Small Batch’ blind with Benchmark Top Floor (or SiB), Four Roses SmB, Bowman Brothers SmB, 1792 SmB, and Michter’s SmB Bourbon. Would love to hear what you fellas think
Yes would love to see a Barrell blind.
Yes on the Barrell blind. Would be good with a bunch of the bourbon batches. If you like the Malted Rye the New Riff 6 year Malted Rye is pretty solid as well. That JT Meleck High Proof is awesome as well. Actually have a bottle being shipped from Bourbon Outfitters as well speak because I ran out and haven’t seen it locally recently.
Love seeing these type of different bottles like the Walleye and JT Meleck. I was able to get my hands on a bottle of Dettling cask strength out of Alabama and it is very different and incredibly delicious!
"Skunky but not in a bad way" I don't know how it could be a good way LOL
If I had a lot more money it seems like it would be pretty cool to start a Distillery. Source some whiskey from somewhere and make Gin and Vodka while waiting for the first round of new distilled to age
I just got that High Proof JT two weeks ago from a friend that visited Louisiana. I have way too many opened bottles to crack it yet.
I have Barrel batch 26 and 35 and enjoy them both. Would love to see if I'm missing a good one other than the new 36 (maybe)
If You would like to know the mash build of the Walleye Run (if its not a secret), I know someone who works there and see if I can get it.
Dear Trenton.. If you're serious about keeping your hair start using minoxidil (the Walmart generic works fine) right now and you can keep what you have. You'll have to use it EVERYDAY for the rest of your life. If you wait and lose the hair at the front and top nothing will regrow it. But you can keep it all if you start the minoxidil.
Best regards,
Someone that missed the minoxidil train.
Love your video's and I was wondering if you could remind a budget rye that doesn't have a minty taste to it
Kurt! Cactus is totally edible and used in a lot of taquerias out here for fajitas.
That Walleye Run from New Holland is awesome!! I have a few bottles from New Holland Brewery and they are all damn good
I just finished off the last 2 oz of the JT Meleck bottle and I was not nearly as impressed as when I opened it. My advice is to open and drink it BEFORE it sits in the bottle for a long time. It is an amazing bottle for the money but it doesn't like oxygen in the bottle long term.
4:48 I'm a Southern boy, and I've smelled any number of skunks, live and dead. When you say the whiskey's skunky I want no part of it - no matter how much you also say "not in a bad way." 🙂
13:03 🎼🎵🎶 You can stay at the YMCA! 🙂 🎶🎵
16:01 Trenton is the king of the definite maybe. 🙂
Sipping on J.T. Meleck High Proof as I was watching your video and love it. Keep up the great work Kurt and Trenton. SLB Drinks has always been my Encyclopedia for whiskey knowledge starting years ago..
Just got a bottle of that JT Meleck 118 proof for my birthday. Great stuff.
Craving whiskey at 9:00am is not ideal but it's real. Not that I'm going to do it but this certainly got me wanting to hit my Meleck.
They sometimes inspire my evening pours.
You live in the Great Lakes Region and didn't know that walleye is DELICIOUS?!?!? Oh, Man...........Have you heard of Lake Perch, Smelt, etc? 😉
I had the Walleye Run a few weeks ago at the New Holland Brew Pub in Holland. I thought it was exceptional. Can't wait to find a BC36. The 118 is a nice pour as well.
yes. on the West coast they are called Nopales
I'm a new Holland fanboy! I've got a single barrel double oaked rye that hits harder than almost anything I've ever tried. Their single barrel cask strength stuff is on another level!
I know Barrell is well-loved, but I've never gelled with their bottles (the Dickel influence, I think).
I have the SLB pick for JT Meleck and I think it's delicious.
Nopales bro. Mexican dish made of cactus paddles.
Yes... i think it's called napales ... 6:45
Crowded barrel (the whiskey tribe people) have a vodka aged in oak barrels. It’s called silly old goose vodka. Pickup only, in Texas
Have you done a episode that shows your entire collection you always reference stuff outside of the main bar I’m curious to know how big of a collection you have
You should try deacon , a scotch blend it’s pretty good if you can find it 🔥🔥🔥
You need to try and get some Dragon’s Milk Origin from New Holland, it’s different but I think you will like it!
Another episode of Sip it or Skip it? GREAT! Been too long.
Just got the new JTMeleck Cask Strength Store pick in at the local grocer ! Going get one tomorrow!
barrel aged vodka (when distilled from potato) would be interesting. neutral spirit aged in oak barrels would be called whisky?
Just went back to Batch 35 last night to see how it stacks up to the stuff I've been enjoying lately. And it's good, but It's $85 here, and I don't think it's an $85 bottle. At $40-50, yes, it'd be a great bottle... but at the current price... it only really beats BAD bottles that are similarly priced. I don't think I'd ever replace it.
Going to louisiana in January. Hope to find a jt meleck there. Great show!! Thanks
I thought all the kids that would say "yolo" died off.
I may have missed it, but did you ever announce the amount of money you raised at the golf outing?
Lets do a barrell blind.
Considering I just found my first barrell product - batch 035.
It would be nice to see what is your pick of their newer batches.

19:08 no aging of vodka in wood (per US regulations)
20:01 Trenton shocketh us!
22:14 nice sign off, there goes Trenton, and nod
Yeah, it's "dirty rice". Lends ah earthy taste. "Clay eater's" would luv it!
Some of the best fish dishes are served with bones.
I thought parsley on the Walleye
Have you guys tried any of New Hollands other stuff? They're a pretty big hit locally
Reyka vodka is also fantastic. If you like Ketel One you'll love Reyka.
Trenton you should do a mohawk!
I haven't seen a Barrel batch since 31.
J. T. Meleck is phenomenal!
Hey guys, I would love to trythe Walleye Malted Rye but can't find any place that will ship it to Ohio, any suggestions,
When U were trying to say "Vegetable" it sounded like "Vegadull" Buzzed? LOL
New Holland has been on my beer radar for a while. I’ll need to grab one of their whiskies soon.
Their Old hWip is their best offering if you can find it. Peachy wheat whiskey with a craft funk. Fantastic.
@@jondilly1974is it a yearly release or a special release that just released once. I’ve wanted it but haven’t ever seen it. I live in Michigan.
Vodka is just extra distilled whiskey new make. Why would you then age it? The reason they extra distill it is to remove all flavors. If you plan on aging, adding flavors, you wouldn’t need to distill out any hint of grains. Tito’s is corn based. Some are grain based as well, some are potatoes, some are fruit based. Anything that ferments can be used.
Barrel blind! Absolutely!
Guillotine Barrel Aged Vodka. Pretty damn good for vodka
Have y'all quit doing the SLB Tries channel? I just realized tonight that the last video there was five months ago.
Wouldn’t the barrel aged vodka be the JT Meleck that you have in front of you.
depends if it is rice vodka or traditional potato one.
Orange label is the only way to go for the barrel.
Love J.T. Meleck
Can you review Calumet bourbon please
Barrell aged vodka is whisky
do the barrel blind on friday
Anyone else drinking this morning with them?
I couldn't take the hair of the dog today. Went to the Joan Jett and Alanis concert last night and really tied one on!
Like the 36 better, I got like a milk dud vibe in it. Didn’t like the higher rye in the 35
if its rice vodka, then its the new make of the rice whisky you are having there...
+ vodka should be neutral...
Absolutely bring us the Barrell batch blind. This Friday?
Friday is Russel's showdown
@mattschmitt9924 the Friday live stream is the Russell's showdown.
@@nathanbalysh7158 I'm not sure I understand your question.
Yes, you can eat cactus. Look up Nopales.
Was just coming to the comments to say this lol
Vodka I thought is supposed to be a flavorless spirit ???
Yes, blind the Barrell Bourbons please
Instead of shaving, one month of only drinking baby Hudson
Try Adictivo Whiskey!!!!!!
How can i get my hands on some j.t. meleck? (Im in texas)
I have seen the regular bottle at specs recently.
I don't know what their restrictions are on shipping, but they have an online shop.
Walleye? Can tell you’re American. If you’re Canadian, it’s pickerel.
1. Instead of shaving your head, just go blonde 😂
2. You’re welcome for the meleck 😉
That's fair you don't want to shave it, but how do you feel about dying your hair for charity?
Dead skunk but not in a bad way? 😂😂
16:28 Trenton, watch your mouth, sir. I know it's 2024 and some people don't care but that is not meant to be a curse word or used lightly.
Lmao!!! You cult followers are hilarious
Jesus Christ, why not?
Anyone else want to take a shot at me? I stand by what I said.
YOLO, really. You live every day. You only die once.
YOLO. for the young’uns who can’t pronounce “Carpe Diem”.
Trenton has to die his hair hot pink
No offense but just honest comment: I enjoy Kurt’s experience that shines through on his comments on tastes. Trent’s off-the-wall comparisons are not helpful (for instance: locker room mildew) when assessing the taste of bourbons. It seems to be a one up on bringing these type comparisons (see if you can top the last crazy comment). This just takes away from the channel. Neither one will like this comment but just honest.
It takes away for you. But your assessment apparently isnt the assessment of the 154k subs to this channel .
If I get something the tastes like a rotting skunk, hard pass my friend.
Maybe you guys should wax your chests and see who crys the most. 😁
Shave your eyebrows this year
All rye whiskey sucks
