Have you every tasted a honeyberry? This is a tasting and review of honeyberry. I highly recommend tasting them and even trying to grow them if you can. They are not very sweet, but have a unique taste similar to an unripe blueberry. I live in zone 7b where it is warm and honeyberry can be difficult to grow, due to a low heat tolerance. These do very well in colder climates. I like to try to grow unique fruits to my area in order to expand my food forest and thus the flavors available to me.

We have 4 honeyberry bushes going in the ground this fall. We are in western NC. We are more zone 6b. Excited to see how they grow.

Green inside is raw...you should wait until they are purple inside (which may take many weeks after berry becomes purple)

Yeah, nowhere near ripe. Those needed at least another 2 weeks. They typically turn purple about 3 weeks before they ripen. Also, the mutant looking one isn't unusual since all the berries have at least two blossoms. So there are actually two berries within each berry. They will be less acidic and more sweet after the first few years too.

Looking forward to these maturing. I don't know of many people growing them this far south. Trying to prevent the heat from damaging the plants too much.

@@justinthewildoutdoors The largest propagator out there is Berries Unlimited and they are clear down in Arkansas so they can handle the heat. They just don't look very good in August and September.

@@pcmattress5221 They do seem to have similar weather to us. It looks like only a few degrees cooler on average down by them.
