As someone who does like to work with textiles, I say those knitting loom things can be difficult until you figure out the right tension. It's very easy to do it too loose or too tight and it may not seem like it when you are doing it.
I noticed straightaway that they were going to have trouble with tension. If they had been a bit looser it would have worked perfectly
I always feel like just knitting/crocheting it without the obscure machine would be much easier and faster
@@sarahroth6680 The machine itself might be the problem there, if it was just a loom knitting kit I feel like it would have been easier to get and keep good tension. Less to fiddle with.
Yes, the pull handle and mechanical feeder made it way too complicated and too tight.
It would also explain why the tube ended up being too long; tension is too tight = less yarn is used per round = more rounds for the given yarn.

This is literally just a crochet funloom, I used to make funloom crafts as a teen and this is just reminding me of such.

That first one is just a tiny knitting loom with extra unneeded steps (loom knitting is actually pretty forgiving and fun!)
Also the metal thing is just called a hook and is not the same as a crochet hook (which I am actually doing while watching this video!)

The entire time I was watching this, all I was thinking was 'How is this machine supposed to be easier than just a toilet paper roll with paddle pop sticks stuck to it??' Like I used to make these all the time as a kid, you just use different sticks (or, looms, if you're doing it properly I suppose) for different tension etc.
That’s what I came to say! I love loom knitting it’s so easy and fast for even kids to pick up but that contraption makes it 10x harder 🤣

Jackie doesn't know it but she saved my life.
Going on three years ago I got the courage to try poly clay. The last time I had used clay was in high school and was told I had no talent for it. So..fast forward to seeing my first video from her, one with a miniature playground with working installations, and I said Ooooo I wanna do that! After convincing myself to try I have played with clay nearly every day since. I say she saved me because I was dealing with an undiagnosed medical condition and appointment after appointment, hospital after hospital, no one knew what was wrong. I was in a HUGE amount of pain, but I use sculpting to defocus on uncontrolled pain. It was 2 1/2 years before a diagnosis and that turned out to be extremely rare and has no cure. This illness has the highest rate of suicide known for rare diseases. Now I watch Jackie and Sika and they make me smile and wish I had a little sister, all the while sitting on this side of the screen fighting for some sort of semblance to normality. I have sculpted a two-foot-tall dragon and bonsai trees and a barnyard and forest full of character animals. I have made replicas of endangered plants and am about to make my first rare bug, an Orchid Praying Mantis. Look them up, amazing!
So today, I got my giggles and grins in, and for that, I thank you both!
Aw! I'm really glad you found Jackie. And you are very brave! I totally want to get preying mantisses some day (I move alot though) I love watching Orchid Mantisses. It's amazing they look like dogwood blossoms! The only thing is you need to keep roaches or fruit flies to feed them...

I'm sorry you're having a hard time with the first kit you were actually loom knitting which is different from knitting and that tool was a loom hook. Its easier than knitting (to me anyways) and it does take some dexterity
Please anyone don't judge loom knitting by this. I'm watching it just thinking how much harder they have made it using this weird device... Not that I don't secretly love watching the struggles... 🤣
@@MissClarkyTheSecond Agreed. I think the device might have made their knit too tight which explains their troubles getting it over the forms.
yeah loom knitting or corking (which is what I learned it was called, but its the same thing) is much easier for me than knitting, but the took they used here just overcomplicated it SO much for no reason at all. It does require some dexterity but there was no reason for the project to make it that much of a struggle for them. Not that it wasn't fun to watch, its comedy gold as always, but I just want to yell at the manufacturer.
Yeah that kit way overcomplicated the whole thing. I could make that amigurumi and you don't need the nylon string or the pump action loom. And I agree please don't judge loom knitting from this kit. Loom knitting is easy and relaxing (not that regular knitting isn't). This kit gives loom knitting a bad name. I almost want to send her a kit I know would work and video with her to help her see how it's not as difficult as that kit made it to be

Honestly go for it! I'd love to see them try a real loom knitting kit or even make a simple one out of TP roll and some pencils taped to the sides (that's how I first learned for free and made about a million friendship bracelets using this technique as a kid)

Man, I remember having a non-pump version of that knitting machine when I was a kid. I used it so much that I could zone out using it and come back to find a yard-long tube trailing from my hands. And I’m a lefty. The pump part is the only thing keeping it from being ambidextrous.
I love watching your videos. I just went through a pretty tough situation. And after I stopped crying and calmed down a little bit. I got my food and started rewatching your videos to try and cheer me up
I've been getting tinker crates for years and now I get eureka crates. All of them have been super mind stimulating and fun. It really includes everything you need. (Except Scissors and occasionally water obviously but it does come with a screwdriver. Even the few times I was missing a piece, I just emailed them abt it and got the pieces just a week later. If you want something helpful, get the eureka crate because they can be used forever. Love my wooden ukulele😍🥰

The knitting tool is just a convoluted Dolly Bobbin.. in my day, essentially a cotton reel with nails hammered in!!
I had a plastic version of that as a kid but didn't have instructions so it went IN DA TRASH (after many attempts)
We used to get a cardboard toilet roll and stick popsticks on it to do the same thing :3
I would have loved that fairy doll as a kid. I was really into Winx and WITCH and still have my Stella doll in her "box." It was actually just plastic, so I had to carefully cut it so I can open it to play with her and then put her back when I was done

Lol, I can't rewatch this one bc every time I wanna jump into the video to help y'all with that first kit. It's basically a loom and I've known how to use one since I was 11. Jackie and Sika, just so you know, it's not the easiest thing in the world for everyone but using a loom shouldn't be so complicated and I bet those instructions were terrible.
It's best with pictures and video tutorials. When I first started I didn't think to use the internet but when I forgot how to crochet after I learned it I had a much easier time remembering it and getting back into crochet with videos! Love y'all always😘🥰

lol, all i could think of when i saw the knitted end result was one of those weird finger traps that we had as kids(i grew up in the 90's). The more you pull it the tighter it gets. I kept thinking 'Don't stretch it. Jackie, Sika don't do it!' and then "oh no, they stretched it". haha, it was pretty funny :)

I own several of these machines that are for knitting. I am a crocheter and I can also knit. I know how hard it can be to use these types of knitting machines. I make amigurumi all the time so I know the struggle is real when it comes to these gimmicky items for knitting. Once you get the hang of it tho, it can be so much fun! I know if Jackie practiced crocheting, she would master it in no time. It doesn't matter what size you hands are Jackie, this would open up a whole new world and crafts.

Honestly the knitting loom thinks are way more difficult than actually knitting. It was like making a mini hat but you also put it into the model inside out.
Yeah as a kid I had this Barbie knitting loom thing and I could never do it. But I could crochet fine.
I can't crochet but I can loom knit (I learned two different stitches via YT :D) and my daughter who can knit and crochet has trouble loom knitting. I figure we equal each other out LOL

The plush one reminds me of the extreme rubberband bracelets that I used to make. You do the exact same thing but with small rubberbands. Now I really wanna go back to doing rubberband creations.

I’d love to see you do a kit vs dollar store challenge. Sika had such a good idea to add the glow to the sand and it had me wondering if it would work. You should test these ideas! I think it would be really fun :)
The ‘knitting machine’ is just a more complicated version of French Knitting, which is usually a wooden ‘doll’ about 6 inches high with four loops or panel pins in the top. I’m left handed and I started doing French Knitting as a small grain, it’s very easy because there’s no gimmicky trigger to press. They’ve made it difficult

I’m already mad amigurimi is by definition crochet that’s a knitting machine
And it's easier to just learn crochet than use that contraption, not that it's easy just not as bad and it has no future usefulness unlike real knitting and crochet.
And it isn't even a good knitting machine since it needs so much manual input. Crochet definitely seems easier to learn. Especially to just make a tube!
Amigurimi can be knit as well.

The “ami” part in amigurumi means crocheted or knitted, so by definition, it can actually be either. :)

I have used looms to make things like this .. the regular round looks are much easier to work with and use plus easier to control the tension, and stretchyness of the knitting.

I love round looming by hand. I never realized it could be difficult for a beginner even with a machine 😭
Also sika just seems like the kind of person that can make any activity entertaining
The first kit is called looming. The whole contraption is just extra. All you need is a loom ring(the piece that has the pegs) you don’t need the whole gun thing. It’s actually easier if you only use the loom ring because it’s not bulky and you can move it as you please. Looming is actually really fun and way easier then any form of “knitting” this contraption just makes things way harder. I think you should definitely try it out one day and make a beanie instead of a stuffed animal. Stuffed animals are more advanced because you need the nylon string to tighten it where a beanie you only need to tighten the top and not the bottom.
"Hear the defeat in our voices." 🤣 We love our brave leaders, the Salt Block Sisters, for all the suffering they go through for us. 😎💞 Just watching them struggle with the knitting was giving ME a sympathy headache. 🤕
