In all fairness, I was chosen in 2009 for the top 10 online voting along with four of my homies from my area (Central Valley northern Cali)… we didn’t know any of those SLAP guys whatsoever, and when the editor Mark Whitley started to realize they had chosen all people from the same crew in the same area… they were stressing pretty hard because they thought everyone would figure it was rigged lol. But regardless, my understanding is they had Jerry Hsu, Jamie Thomas and Brian Anderson selecting the finalists.. and I think it was pros doing the selections in 2010 also. So, I think sometimes you get a situation where a small crew is really feeding off each other and everyone is kind of coming up together. We saw it happen with happy medium crew etc.. Coliseum in Boston. Similar deal. Or maybe 2010 OIAM was rigged. Honestly who knows 😂

Really crazy to see this side of Forrest. My introduction to him was on King of the Road 2015 and he's definitely changed since this aired.

You could really see that Forrest really felt bad when he heard that everybody didn't like his personality... He almost looked sad after that. I just really would of liked if someone said it to him earlier, so he could of changed his attitude.

I have to laugh every time Forest puts down a trick, he's so good. His attitude makes me like him more honestly
I don't see why theres so much hate for Forrest. He's coming from a background of having nothing, so to him this was his shot to start to go somewhere. Most everyone else had something else going on for them or they knew they probably weren't going to win. He just really wanted to win so he didn't want to get too close to the competition. I will admit thought hes kinda weird, but you just have to realize he had a whole different mentality of why he was there than everyone else.
+Jonathan Stephenson totally. forrest saw it as a competition and he went really big to try to win. personally I think its lame he didn't win. it was a skateboarding competition after all, not a popularity contest.
+Frank7489 the guys were tested on their personality as well as their skill, if your personality doesn't fit or work than you can not have a group dynamic/ be on a team.

This year was so good! Not only the skating but all the personalities made it like a movie!! John the quiet guy from the crowd, rubin the humble skater, and forrest the cocky guy who in the end turns his life around to not be so bad after all. This was golden!
I met forrest at a zero demo a couple months ago, he kills it sooo much harder in real life than on video. He also isn't that much a dick in real life, he is pretty chill.

Okay, after some internet sleuthing it seems like Reuben Barrack is telling the truth & he was 16 at the time of the show. He's 25 now. Great beard, Reuben!

Same dude, I pretty much watch it every week it's also great to listen to in the background whist I'm busy doing other stuff 🙂 I prefer this over the 2012 episodes because this one was just pure skateboarding where they could just have fun 🛹❤️ But in the other one they made it seem like an actual contest by doing stupid challenges...😑

I think of John Fitzgerald and Nik Stain first when I think of pros from this, only bc Forrest’s career has been so wildly up and down, sort of Twan-esque. He was clearly the most talented and memorable guy from this particular comp tho, while watching.

Forrest double set sesh is just unreal. The best tricks done down a fat double… Dude is hard work personified.
That double set sesh wouldn’t look out of place in any top tier skate video,he’s on a whole other level to these kooks and they tried everything and anything to ignore it and push it under the rug because of his apparent bad attitude.. I couldn't stand most of it, glad you enjoyed it though. To me it's a lot of super low effort, generic-sounding indie pop with no vocalists of note and no instrumentation of note, and sometimes even bad instrumentation like at 1:16:33 those hi-hats end up going so off time that I can't believe whoever produced that song went ahead with that drum track

I love that Forrest guy, he's the Nick Diaz of skateboarding. He gives no fucks.
Everyone was so sick. Everyone keeps saying "Forrest is a douchebag" etc. but that's just his personality and to be honest, it wasn't that bad. Also in the end, his personality changed somewhat and that was pretty rad 👊.

At a skate demo Forrest was there with Zero. I was a shit kid annoying him about the show. But he was chilled. During all this the product toss got hectic, my board was gone. I was so bummed it got stolen. When it cleared Forrest walks over hands it over, dabbed me up and left. Haha
