I am a little confused by Megali Mavri and Mikri Mavri (5.02 in your video). Which one is the summit that was (at least for a time) renamed as Venizelos? As far as i know that's Megali Mavri. But in this case where is Mikri Mavri located? And does it sometimes have another name?
@@west-crete I think Mikri Mavri has the alternate name "Venizelos" . This is because the peak looms over the village of Theriso , the village from which Eleftherios Venizelos, the Cretan Politician was from.
@@iankasiolas9 So in this case would your Megali Mavri be the peak that's sometimes referred to as Mesa Mavri? Essentially an extension (towards the West) of the Ornio ridge?
@@west-crete I am not familiar with the name ''Mesa Mavri''. but yes Megali Mavri could be considered an extension to Ornio. Unfortunatly, i haven't hiked in this area at all. The northwest ridgeline (The area from Kalooros to Ornio) is one that i havent explored and it is not featured in these video series. The closest i aproached is when i hiked to Spathi, and when i hiked to Svourichti.
