Finally got my 2020 G90 5.0 Ultimate. Only took 4 months and a pandemic. Ordered a 2020 to replace my 2017 G90 in January and got it two weeks ago. LOVE IT. White with the Beige/Havana interior. This is the best car that nobody knows about. They have a great car but when you say you have a Genesis their first question is, "who makes that?" Then you say Hyundai and you get a funny look. Had the same issue with my 2017 G90 that I just traded in for this one.
I've said it before but I'll say it again, Genesis NEEDS their own dealers. Hyundai/Kia dealers are notorious for being a terrible place to be and I don't think any luxury buyer will want to buy their $75k luxury sedan at a Hyundai dealer. Luxury also pertains to dealership experience and Lexus has the #1 satisfaction with dealers/service. If Hyundai is smart, they will go the Lexus route and separate the dealers.
People get so pissed when I say that, but luxury buyers only fully respect brands that do exactly what you mentioned. Toyota was well aware of that in 1989 when they built separate selling channels for the Lexus brand. That is how they ascended into success so fast!
They do have seperate dealerships in Korea but yes they do need to get the dealerships out where they're selling these cars.. because like u said, no one wants to go buy luxury cars in a non-luxury brand's dealerships.. :/
They're working on it. They need people to actually purchase and appreciate their cars first before they can spend that kind of money. They need to know that they're going to gain popularity and increase sales.
Genesis doesn’t even sell as many cars as INFINITI let alone Acura and Lexus. Yes they are killing it with their new designs and models especially the gv80 which is an actual competitor to the German brands. However it’s so hard to find Genesis because they don’t have dealers and aren’t easily accessible. It will be a while before they catch up to those other companies sales numbers.
Kyle Swift I know but that’s the problem. They don’t have their own dealerships. In most places If you are cross shopping luxury cars you can go from dealer to dealer. However luxury dealers and standard brands are normally not on the same street. So people aren’t going to think to drive to Hyundai to get a luxury car. I was in Seoul Korea this past November and the G90 was everywhere, looking seriously elegant. You definitely need to see this car in person... it is beautiful!! 👌🏼
These genesis cars are gorgeous! I’m not a huge fan of big grills *cough cough Toyota and Lexus and now BMW Cough Cough* but I love the looks of these vehicles.
That attention to detail is all around my 2017 Kia Optima SXL....from the center control panel buttons reaching up for your touch to the Nappa leather Aubergine cooled and heated seats. harmon Kardin nearly 700 watt surround sound and the reminder if I've let the gas tank get low enough that asks me if it should find me the nearest gas station...Hyundai and Kia really make it easy!
Beautifuly designed inside and out. It is simple and elegant, nothing seems ostentatious nor unnecessary. The engine could use a bit more "oomph" to really compete with the german offerings BUT the current choices are fairly adequate. I am glad that Genesis is finally coming into its own with this refresh and the upcoming gorgeous G80/GV80 models. Can't wait to see what a GV90 will look like! Great review, as always! Keep up the good work. 👍🏼
Wife has a 2009 Hyundai Genesis with the 4.6L V8. Magnificent engine and a really great car overall. As good as her car is, Hyundai has really upped their game. Great review
I'm on my second G90. I had one of the first 2017 G90's in the area and loved it. The only reason I got rid of it was a fell in love with the 2020 redesign. This is a fantastic luxury car that gives you 95% of the "Germans" at 70% of the cost. Great riding car and my 2020 is even quieter than my 2017. Both are 5.0 Ultimates with AWD.
Of course, this will not interest anyone shopping for an M/AMG model. But if you comparably equip a regular S Class or 7 Series, this G90 undercuts them by almost 60K! Not to mention, the Genesis is far more reliable. You're doing yourself a real disservice if you don't at least cross shop this car.
In addition, the fact that you can top out the G90 at the base price of a v6 S class or and In-line 6 seven series says a lot about the Germans over inflation
@@byronnasem4110 In fact the S Class starts at almost 95K, and that with zero options. This G90 is fully loaded at 79K JUst can't compare from a value standpoint.
If I were to get this car, I think I’d get it exactly like this. With the same interior+exterior color. It’s fantastic. Plus this is a car you can get used in 5 years and it’ll still be reliable!!
Not everyone wants an SUV, I prefer a sedan and was disappointed when the American manufacturers decided to drop sedans from their lineups. Genesis makes some nicely designed sedans. They may still be out of my price range but I do appreciate their design and comfort.
Just the fact this has a reliable N/A 5 liter V8 makes this a 8/10 then the grill, headlights and wheels styling makes it 9/10 and then all the equipment for a lower price than any german or japanese car 10/10 !
No massaging seats is a deal breaker in this segment. Also, why does the Sonata have a digital gauge cluster while this doesn’t. Not giving the option of a panoramic sunroof is strange.
This mimics old school American luxury sedans, from the V8 engine and obnoxious size, to the lack of tech features seen in most other cars. It's meant to be simple and smooth, something that, for some reason, we still like paying top dollar for. Why anyone would shell out so much money for an outdated land yacht is beyond me, but to each their own I guess.
Great review! Love the enthusiasm. And that's a whole lotta car for the money. $80,000 *ALL-IN* for an AWD, V8, full boat luxury car is ridiculous in today's dollars. Luxury car buyers feeling the pandemic pinch in their wallets will do well to give this vehicle a look as an alternative to the new models from Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW.
Can't wait for you to drive the new GV80 and especially the new G80! Those are the real game changers, not a refreshed G90 and the upcoming refresh of the G70
Juch prefer the sedan over the suv. More maneuverability, looks better, better milage, easier to park, and just an overall better choice. Suv is great for a 2nd vehicle, though I prefer a pickup, but not for a primary daily driver.
I really like what Genesis did here. They finally understand that mimicking the S-Class comes across as inauthentic and nearly impossible for its price. They instead took an existing car and introduced a wholly new brand styling direction, and what better to do that than on your flagship. Sure, it is slower than the S560/750i/A8 4.0T, but it will be far more reliable(and the standard V6 is very competitive with their 6cyl offerings). The interior is highly appropriate for the price, and I rate it higher than the 7-Series, but below the Audi and MBZ S-Class. The Lexus LS is nice on the inside as well, but a bit busy for my taste(and that infotainment setup is a disaster). The build quality, quietness, plushness, ride, etc are all luxury-appropriate. Love it!(even the much-debated wheels, yes, they go with the vibe of this car. Genesis tied all of it in together well!)
If everyone else quits making sedans wouldn’t that help Genesis sales? I drive a G80 and a Santa Fe (not at the same time!) and enjoy both. For me, you need not do the race car stuff. The cars sound great but the true appeal is the smooth luxury ride and quiet cabin.
My only gripe on this beautiful luxury car. First of all, I would definitely black out the chrome grill to blend the darker color to making it less ridiculousness size. Secondly, throw away the old throw back 80's looking rims. And lastly, I don't like the long extended tail light strip all the way across the trunk looks overly done. For me I would rather keep the taillight more shorter to aesthetically seemingly look more wider it's makes the back end look small
Happy Friday guys! This car gets us pumped to drive the 2021 GV80 and G80. Genesis says we should be driving both in mid-summer. Stay tuned and hope you all stay safe out there!
The g80 is not a new model only the gv80. The g80 is a refresh just like the g90 but with the new v6 engine

i dig it. its a big body sedan with an asian flair. the LS used to be that but i think this car does it better
These genesis cars are gorgeous! I’m not a huge fan of big grills *cough cough Toyota and Lexus and now BMW Cough Cough* but I love the looks of these vehicles.
Good old big boi car. Real man cars right here!!!
👍 yep
Cant wait until Genesis who is doing great the past 2 years has their own dealerships.
I.wouldnt hold my breath today...
www.autospies.com/news/Is-Genesis-Intentionally-Thinning-The-Ranks-Of-It-s-Dealerships-101232/
Man this new design language is really growing on me. That new G80 looks gorgeous and cant wait for a new G70 either
Woke up early this morning with a headache. But the good news is there's a Redline Review hot off the press.
Calvin Hikes Hope you feel better! :)
This car is such a bargain. I love it.
I love those wheels! I hate luxury sedans with 5 spoke or any kind of sporty wheels
Exactly. The sporty 5 spoke rims just look out of place in luxury cars. These on the other hand ooze sophistication.
Yes! The video I was waiting for is finally here!!!
The wheels are my thing on this car. They’re super flashy, but not in an obnoxious way because they’re so unique
Best part of his videos are his reactions to any powerful car's acceleration. 😂😂😂
Bless them for staying committed to sedans. more market share for them ‼️
I wouldn't be caught dead driving a crossover
Pray for more sporty hatchbacks, sportbacks, wagons, and longer sedans! We need these!
I dig those wheels. Just will be a nightmare to clean between the spokes
I imagine the people who owns these don't wash their own cars anyway.
@@gamestar8180 because they don't lol...
People who own these new are rich people.
And pay others to clean it.
Its called a hose.
Pressure wash exists.
@@biglee13m That doesn't get a wheel or anything fully clean, you have to get in there and scrub.
Wife has a 2009 Hyundai Genesis with the 4.6L V8. Magnificent engine and a really great car overall. As good as her car is, Hyundai has really upped their game. Great review
Sofyan looks so genuinely happy reviewing this car!
“kinda like that thing behind me”
BMW X3 M: am i a joke to you?
This is just an awesome car. Genesis is like Lexus was in the early 90s. They are about to take over the luxury segment.
@japanwatchconnection if Samsung can dethrone sony in consumer electronics, genesis can dethrone Germans.
I actually like the analog gauges. Classy and traditional like everything else: NA V8, RWD, chrome, and commanding appearance.
You gotta love his fascination with door closing sounds haha
Not everyone wants an SUV, I prefer a sedan and was disappointed when the American manufacturers decided to drop sedans from their lineups. Genesis makes some nicely designed sedans. They may still be out of my price range but I do appreciate their design and comfort.
The wheels look so mafia ! Love 'em
Just the fact this has a reliable N/A 5 liter V8 makes this a 8/10 then the grill, headlights and wheels styling makes it 9/10 and then all the equipment for a lower price than any german or japanese car 10/10 !
I saw one in the wild. Drop-dead gorgeous.
I was like WTF is that???!!!??? hahaha
I just love it when reviewers tell us what we can do with our cars as if we don't know what we'll do with our cars......
Good old fashioned V8!
This brand is going to be Lexus all over again mark my words
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HUBBY TEST DRIVE A FEW AND GET HIS IMPRESSIONS
He has a husband?
@@gregoryvierra6114 Lol yea he has a husband but... She's referring to her husband lol.
Maybe there just dating idk he's married or not.
Only thing I like about the German cars is their solid feel, quietness and most importantly handling in the curves . Give me that and I am in.
The G90 is absolutely IMPOSING. The mass of it reminds me of the Bentley
All i want for Christmas is you..
2020 Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate AWD Exterior Color:
GOLD COAST SILVER
Interior Color:
BLACK AND BEIGE
Thank you Santa!
I can’t be the only one who prefers the pre-refreshed G90.
Wheels looking gangsta🔥🔥
Great review! Love the enthusiasm. And that's a whole lotta car for the money. $80,000 *ALL-IN* for an AWD, V8, full boat luxury car is ridiculous in today's dollars. Luxury car buyers feeling the pandemic pinch in their wallets will do well to give this vehicle a look as an alternative to the new models from Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW.
I love the wheels. There's nothing wrong with covering up the lug nuts. Cleans it up and protects.
G90 well executed exterior & interior. Should make its mark on this class vehicle. Well done vid Sofyan. Slainte' ! Cheers !
Those are the best rims.... I have not seen rims that good in a long time.... Good Job Genesis....
just got one with white and brown interior
Not sure about the 2020 but the earlier year models if you switch off the traction control you can smoke the rear tires.
can't wait to get this car in few years at bargain price. This car is so gorgeous I've seen it in person once
Until you see and experience the next generation G90...
Can't wait for you to drive the new GV80 and especially the new G80! Those are the real game changers, not a refreshed G90 and the upcoming refresh of the G70
Im lookn to get a g70 or g80 but waiting for the refreshed g70. Cant go wrong either way. Really waiting to see if they make a new coupe
Genesis: here’s a car that will make you forget that Hyundai/Kia is our parent company
Lexus: how bout a corolla engine for $39k?
Khachik Hmayakyan Actually you got it wrong. Hyundai is the parent company. Hyundai partially owns Kia. Genesis is Hyundai’s luxury division.
@@cortezmiller1899 just partially? It's around 30 to 45%. Large enough to control Kia. As good as owning it.
Officially known as Hyundai motor group (Hyundai + kia + genesis)
I love what they've done to this car would certainly consider buying one if I was in the market
Juch prefer the sedan over the suv. More maneuverability, looks better, better milage, easier to park, and just an overall better choice. Suv is great for a 2nd vehicle, though I prefer a pickup, but not for a primary daily driver.
There is NOTHING like a naturally aspirated V8…
Not crazy about the wheels, but i would love to drive it. Looks like luxury. Once again,Sophian great review.
Reliable engine
Good looking
Fair charging price with value
Less expensive and better looking than it's German rivals.
The wheels are so cool!
Highly prefer the older front grill design. But it's still a very sexy luxury car.
I steered my mom to a 2018 G80 with the V8 and I borrow it as much as I can! 5.0 with 420hp
Genesis is doing the big grill thing right. Sweet looking sedan.
Very interesting car, so many details set it apart, great review!
interior and exterior beautiful as usual with genesis. love the simplicity so fucking much, its so refreshing.
This cars grille is a whole cookout in itself
Stunning. I want one. I prefer this to the latest model.
Sedans aren’t dead, bad sedans are dead.
I will never love crossovers. I hope people come to their senses and don’t cause the death of such beautiful unique cars.
I think the G80 looks better but I love this class of car. I am excited to see what the brand has in store.
