One of the lies I have lived under was that sports is not for me. As a kid I was not good at gymnastics at school and therefore I was usually selected last, as a remainder. It wasn't until I was in my fifties that I decided to give crossfit a try. Being able to experience the satisfaction of physical exercise taught me that I had been living under a lie as if it were a law of nature. That made me wonder what other lies I have been buying into. As a result of that I changed my job and I'm better off for it. Loving myself is still problematic for me, which I guess must flow from yet another lie I have bought into, though I have not been able to locate that one, yet. I remember I had a lot of self-loathing during my teenage years. The fear of not being good enough still lingers. Admittedly, I'm still a work in progress and proceeding is more often than not a matter of one step forward, two steps back, but I keep on pushing forward, because I know the best is yet to come.
Your journey is incredibly inspiring! The courage to confront long-held beliefs and step out of your comfort zone is commendable. It's incredible how one shift in perspective can lead to numerous positive changes, as you've seen in your journey with physical exercise and career change. As for self-love, remember that it's a journey, not a destination. It's perfectly okay to be a work in progress - we all are in our own ways. The fact that you're aware of your self-love challenges and are actively seeking to address them is already a significant step forward. Keep pushing forward because, as you said, the best is yet to come. Keep challenging those old beliefs, and continue on this journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. You're doing great!
