It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts like their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?.
In the decades since, MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts-not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance” for the title track “Dystopia,” 12 GRAMMY® nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked their way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world.
The band’s beginning started in 1984, Dave Mustaine was determined to start a new band that would be heavier and faster than his peers. Mustaine’s songwriting was rapidly maturing, and he set about combining the attitude and energy of punk, with the power and intricate riffing of metal, along with direct, sociopolitical lyrical content. The band recorded their infamous 3-song demo which quickly circulated through the underground tape-trading circuit and became an underground hit leading to a deal with Combat Records. The band’s 1985 debut Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good, was the album that would lay down the blueprint and establish MEGADETH as one of the four pioneers, known as the “Big Four,” who virtually invented a genre with their debut album lauded by VH1 as the “Greatest Thrash Metal Debut Album of All Time”.
MEGADETH was quickly signed by Capitol Records and released their 1986 major label debut Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?, which became the band’s first certified gold record and would go on to become MEGADETH’s first platinum selling release which Pitchfork describes as “everything great about hardcore, plus a dose of the kind of show-off skill that makes lesser musicians' fingers bleed.” They followed with their platinum selling So Far, So Good, So What! (1988); GRAMMY® nominated, platinum album Rust In Peace (1990) featuring “Hanger 18” and “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due;” 1992 GRAMMY® nominated, double platinum release Countdown To Extinction with singles “Symphony of Destruction” and “Sweating Bullets”; “A Tout Le Monde” and “Reckoning Day” from their 1994 platinum selling release Youthanasia; “Kingmaker” from their 2013 Top Ten release Super Collider, which hit No. 3 on both the Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. “She-Wolf” was from the GRAMMY® nominated, Top Ten release Cryptic Writings (1997).
In 2016 MEGADETH once again reinvented themselves as the legendary metal outfit, led by visionary singer, guitarist and songwriter Dave Mustaine, and released their 15th studio effort Dystopia, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, No. 1 on the Hard Music/Top Rock Chart, No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart, No. 2 on iTtunes’ Top Albums chart and No 1. on iTunes’ Metal chart. The title track “Dystopia” went on to win a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance.”
Since its release, MEGADETH has been touring around the world non-stop.
More than three decades after the release of Killing Is My Business, and following through benchmark metal masterpieces like Peace Sells, 1990’s Rust in Peace, 2009’s Endgame and 2016’s Dystopia, the thrash legends, with Mustaine firmly at the helm, are showing no signs of slowing down.
For MEGADETH, the future starts now.
So cool how active Dave is being online this tour.
yea, tbh it probably kills a lot of the boredom.
Probably because of Kiko!
What else is he supposed to do haha
yep
I thought Megadave always one step faster than any other metal players? Like during the old time when Megadeth have their own website for fans to gather and talk about the band. It's soo nice to be Megadeth fan.
Thanks for making this, Dave!
It is really cool. Cooler than the Gibson V :-)
@@JohnnyOttosson85 atleast the paintjob seems better!
@@JohnnyOttosson85 hopefully Dave acknowledges SSG's video and gives some strong words to Gibson as I'm 99% certain Dave wants his signature Gibson Flying-V to be immaculate for his fans.
@@bradleybatt1401 I have two good Gibsons and I’m satisfied with him so I’m not an antiGibson guy. But I certainly get Glenn’s point. BTW, I play a 2005 V from Japanese production and a 1984 SG from US. Both are awesome.

Okay, now Dave Mustaine has reached a level of "being awesome" never seen before!
Yes, he has definitely achieved a new level!! Loving him and all things Megadeth! #1 Fan for life!
If I remember correctly he's flown some jets a few times too so yeah he's pretty awesome like that
Yeah, that's true 👍
I agree man he's some kind of the new Ozzy Osbourne. It's amazing how hard he had worked, to be where he is right now and that it's almost impossible for the new generation of rock n' roll musicians to get this level..
He is a fucking legend man, and he is aging so damn well
So cool you’ve got a channel up, such an inspiration to me. Legend 🤘🏻
Great seeing one of my favorite channels here!
You are also a legend Lamb Chopper
We all love both of these guys. 🤘🏻

You’ll probably never read this, Dave, but I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for everything. I’m confident enough to say that Megadeth changed and saved my life. I will never forget the day I saw Megadeth live in Bucharest, Romania in May 2013. It was one of the best days of my life. Megadeth will forever be my all-time favourite band, no matter what. 🤘🏻❤️
Megadeth pamant romanesc
About changing my life - dare I say *drastically* - and always being my favorite band, agreed
First girl I’ve seen say this nice 👍
FUCK YEAH! This is the best channel ever! Thank you for creating this channel, I hope to meet you one day Dave, your are such a big inspiration to me, no other metal band will ever top your music and vocals. Keep shredding and I can’t wait to see you live again!
I was like 30 miles from meeting him in Tampa at that airport bar in 2018 for the Experience Hendrix tour and I could not afford the sixty dollar Uber ride there and back!! So frustrating? I mean I didn't want to ask a married man for s ride home! Some things are sacred!

Its so Great, Kiko has showed us all kinds of great backstage things. Even a side of Dave and Megadeth we had never seen. My Favorite is Dave chasing a HUGE Moth. But now we get Dave and Kiko's stuff. Thanks
Couldn't agree more bro!
I did not see "Dave chasing a HUGE Moth". Give me a link please :)
@@v.smolyakov It's on Kiko's youtube channel. I cant remember the one. They were on tour. Pretty sure it was a festival. But I am sure you will like Kiko's channel. Its funny. He seems so happy and like he is one of us who just happens to be in Megadeth. I think Dirk has a youtube channel as well. Enjoy
@@Evl_1 It was something about them going to a mall, if I remember correctly.
Dave got jealous of Kiko's channel and now wants a piece of the pie, lol
😅😅
Or Kiko convinced him to do a channel!

Kiko's channel and Megadeth stuff is great and it was a smart move for the band, but people want to see and hear Dave. I'm sure Kiko encouraged him all the time and gave him tips and pointers.
Hey Dave, I'm really glad to see you in such great spirits lately. It seems like you've grown beyond whatever negativity and anger you might've dealt with in the past and you're finally able to enjoy everything you've worked so hard to accomplish. You've done so much for the world of music and you continue to do amazing things. I say all of this with the utmost respect, you're nothing short of a living legend. I've been a huge fan ever since I was a teenager, about thirty six years if I'm counting correctly. You've never let anything stand in your way, you're the embodiment of dedication and perseverance. It's so awesome to see that smile on your face brother, all your years of hard work have really paid off. Thanks for everything.
Thank you brother for all the music you've created over the years and giving us a glimpse into the Megadeth world on the road, blessings to you and be safe, and have fun! 😄🙏🏼
Dude you are the reason I got into metal and grew my hair out which is Red and I'm 43 and still jamming Megadeth,Greatest Band Period, just wanted to tell you thank you!
You know you've made it when you can afford a bus like this AND fuel for it!

He's technically a boomer. Any bands that are coming up or have after the big ones every single person and their mother knows you'll see they don't have any real money.
What you listeners forget is who pays for what. Most artists have things provided based upon a contract. The bus and all that is part of the tour expense.
Other bands that aren't the big four or other automatic cash win boomer band your money is from merch.
Imagine living in an rv and not showering for a week or so because you must keep your schedule.
This is the reality of thw road.
Thank you Dave for all the tunes throughout the yrs and for being here giving us this peak of how you guys roll.🤘🏻👊🏼🤘🏻
Dave you are my biggest inspiration, I cannot wait to see more videos!! 🤘🔥
Hey!!¡¡ Thank you very much. And thanks for all the things you do. All of them really help to keep me alive. See you on tour! :)
So glad to see you're showing this side of you and also hear the excitement in your voice while you're doing this. Nice choice starting this channel!
I love that you have a youtube channel! You looks so happy Dave! So happy to see that smiling face. I am really looking forward to the new album! I pray you have a safe, and fun tour! I love you and Megadeth!
Megadeth was the reason I got back into playing guitar when I was 13, I'm 35 now and I never looked back! Keep thrashing good sir!
Thanks Dave. Pretty nice accommodations there. Take good care of yourself and rock on.
Cool to see Dave is doing his own RUclips channel now! Kiko's channel is huge now, the fans really like all this "behind the scenes" stuff! Nice bus! The sleeping bunks remind me of a NAVY ship, or a capsule hotel in Tokyo!
Thanks for all look inside your life, i’ve been a fan for well over 30 years, rest in peace is probably the greatest album of all time. I know every word from start to finish and I’m 54 years old. Thanks Dave!

Waking up to discover that this channel exists made my whole day. You're one of my biggest influences.

You are THE man, Dave. Thanks for the channel and the tour and most importantly, the music and guitar gifts to us all. So glad you are doing well and beat the big C. Love to ya.

After all, it's not like Metallica wants him back. 😎
It's cool and all to see my musical heroes showing me their bus, eating breakfast, walking the dog etc. But honestly I do miss the mystique of only seeing them on magazine covers occasionally, or the liner notes of the album. So when you really did see them in person at a concert it made them larger than life Yes I realize they are just people and they aren't larger than life, but half the fun is thinking that they are.
I can't wait to see what's gonna be posted on here!
