After viewing the documentary on the Attempted Coup I played this for a couple friends. They knew the song but only now they understand what it is about. Salute David Rudder, RAW TALENT. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

One of the most beautiful songs ever song by a Trinidadian. Thank you David Rudder for paying homage to the past, and educating the present through the harmony of calypso. Keep this art form alive brother.

The name of the festival may be Hosay, but the name of the song is Hoosay. It is a play on the words "who say" (Who says) as well as the festival, a juxtaposition of the forced ignorance that refused to let Trinidad think that we could push our people to something like that, and the religion of the group who attempted to overthrow the government, killing masses of people in the process. Calypso does that, plays on words to give them multiple meanings in the telling of the story. Lyrical poetry.

That night we carried on with our beloved Hosay in our yards, our minds and our hearts... I was only 8 at the time but I remember how my elders kept Hosay alive in such a dark, uncertain time. When you see things like that you know you're in good hands with those who hold true to what they believe in. I come form a family rich in Hosay history and to this day, it will be my fortress of inner strength defined by pureness of heart. Allah's richest blessings on those who sacrifice yearly for it!

@trinicuteness Thank You. I'm glad. You enjoy the David Rudder song "Hoosay" from 1991. This was his best social commentary song of all time. Mr. Rudder is a true master calypsonian.
