  • "Wear something red," was the popular cry
And like the pavements and streets, they were filled with envy
Because by morning light, they were covered with our blood
I tell you not one soul there escaped the frenzy
You know, sometimes you gamble in king and wild is the joker
And sometimes the sight of the moon just riles up the lost, the hungry, the mad
These are the troubled times that we have down in Trinidad.
Because under the crescent moon and above the bloody asphalt
Strange dogs were barking deep in the night
Under the crescent moon, I say the drums were silent
But somehow the rhythm continued, oh what a sight!
On the night of the day, it was the night of the day,
Oh, the night when they say that the martyrs died.
Fame, yes, we're famous as hell
    Why don't you know we're a star
At long last we have made it
A star, like that star in the moon shining over the tomb
    Dance the moon ---------------
Come on dance, brother, dance but death is your drummer, oh
Dance, sister, prance, the future's at stake
And jump high, jump low, but this Hosay will take the cake.
The power and the glory is so close at hand
But the beast he was lurking
For he too sits in the wings, in the wings
So when we searched for the moon all we saw were the vultures
But then a chosen people never worry 'bout these things
So the roll of the tassa began to sound like the rhythm of bullets
And the thundering boom bass well, that was a bomb, was a bomb
In ah this Muslim time when the Hosay is number one.
Ah say, under the crescent moon and above the bloody asphalt
Brother man, strange dogs were barking deep in the night
Under the crescent moon, I say the drums were silent
But somehow the rhythm continued, oh what a sight!
On the night of the day, it was the night of the day,
Oh, the night when they say that the martyrs died.
Not in this house, not in this garden of Eden
Oh, how we danced to the beat of this lovely lie, lovely lie
Until a man opened a door and showed us our other side
And our Mecca-ed illusions walked right on by
Now Trini know what is Oozy diplomacy
Now Trini know what is SLR love
In ah these troubled times under the stars above.
Ah say, under the crescent moon and above the bloody asphalt
Brother man, strange dogs were barking deep in the night
Under the crescent moon, I say the drums were silent
But somehow the drumming continued, oh what a sight!
On the night of the day, it was the night of the day,
Oh, the night when they say that the martyrs died.
Under the crescent moon and above the bloody asphalt
Strange dogs were barking deep in the night
Under the crescent moon, I say the drums were silent
But somehow the rhythm continued, oh what a sight!
On the night of the day, it was the night of the day,
Oh, the night when they say that the magic died.
So "Wear something red," was the popular cry
And like the pavements and streets, they were filled, were filled with envy
Because by morning light they were covered with our blood
I tell you not one soul there escaped the frenzy
You know, sometimes you gamble in king but you pull the court jester
And sometimes the sight of the moon...

Agreed. We mustn't let this fade away into the history books. It was a tragic event that marked a turning point for our land.

King David at his best, he's the best calypsonian of my generation :)
    Still relevant today
My Parents, younger brother & sister also myself lived on Edward Street when the coup took place
I was one month away from my 4th bday
I didn't understand the magnitude of that event until my early teens via talk shows, documentaries & news paper articles.
All those documentaries should be shown in every high school.

The mastery and genius of David Rudder at its best! He merged the attempted coup, the Hosea celebrations and the football frenzy of the 1989 campaign.

Yes I love it! David Rudder's 1991 classic deep conscious song "Hoosay" arranged by Wayne Bruno off of his 1991's album Rough And Ready on the Lypsoland label! Please post one of Iwer George's earlier material! I'm awaiting to hear an actual video footage of his rare hard to find classics of "Boom Boom Time", "Time Hard, Hold Tight feat. Daddy Percy", "Financial Strain", "Look De Ting Dey" "Keep The Boom Boom Rolling", "Sweet Sweet T + T", "Pan In The Dark", "Bandit", "Na Do Dat" "Stand Up And Fight", "The Party Hot, Hot, Hot" "Jump And Wine Up", "Sex Dey Want", "Roll Ah Bom Boom", "Jock Yuh Waist And Wine", "Lash Dey Want", "Come Leh Me Show Yuh", "Choque It", "Ting Ting", "Time To Wine", Soca Butterfly", "Iwer Dance", "Plant A Garden", "Ah Wine Is Ah Wine", "Take Out Something For Me (Please)", "Yes Iwer", "Wining Party", "Sound Check", "Jump-Up Competition" and etc. Not his current today stuff. Just post something with him from way earlier before of Iwer George performing an actual video of one of rare tunes. He had a unreleased tune from 1986 called "Drinking Vat 19", which sounds similar to his 1988 tune "Keep The Boom Boom Rolling" with a similar melody. I saw him on a live interview in February 2019 when the interviewer ask Iwer how long he been singing Calypso since 1987. But Iwer mention did say? He did try to original attempt to get into a Calypso Tent to release and perform his "Drinking Vat 19" song. But they refused to play it. See if you can find anything earlier with Iwer? If you can. Thanks Visual Art And Production! Yes I'm a die hard Iwer fan.

I will not mourn this traitor who caused such bloodshed and mayhem in our beloved country. We still deal with the deep pain Abu Bakr caused and the fallout of illegal guns and corruption he boldly endorsed.

It's important to know how human Jesus was, as well as how God Jesus was. Start with the gentle Beatitudes, how we should be. It is both as stated in the Gospel by written statement of Jesus, as saying a few important times that He is the Son of Man, and then that He is the Son of God. The Hero/Saviour, miracle-sent/Massiah. Only after Jesus's assension back to God, St Paul, and St John's Revelation very much so, said that He was above us. Because as God it would not help humans us here on earth b4 death. Praise God/Jesus! There was a mistery why Muslim's believe Jesus was only a miracle man sent by God. We need to be more humble than others, and Jesus must have been. Learning .......

Maybe Abu Baker shouldnt help the country get better by getting rid of Mr Roberson because now we got money we have more hatred of each other . We were nicer to each other pre coup
