This was the first Dave show I ever went to. 20+ shows later and countless live trax albums its still the single best version of any Dave song I've ever heard.
Father in law passed yesterday, this song's been in my head and this version especially since it was my first show...Boyd was in rare form for the time...
+Paul Bork nearly everyone asked, esp kids, what animal they could be if reborn, nearly all say BIRDS, many say EAGLES -- maybe that's the next step in humanoid evolution, it certainly beats gravity.. and if you don't like where you are, fly away - true freedom..
Unbelievable. The only one i’ve heard that comes even close is Live Trax Vol. 6 with a stunning Béla Fleck Banjo solo. Absolutely adore this song. Keep the dum... dum... dum... dum, dum, dum (can’t think how else to describe it. Leave me alone, I’m tired!) going in the background and there are so many possibilities with different solos in the foreground. It’s a song made for jamming. Going to see them for the first time in London in 2 weeks time and honestly if they just played this song and extended the jam bit out to 2+ hours I’d be happy!
I was at this show. My second of what is currently 56. I have never heard another version that can be mentioned in the same breathe. So many amazing moments with the crescendo at 5:59 which always blows me away. This band is like no other.
Love this version. They have changed how the horns play in the latest versions and it's not as good. I think they need to bring someone in on the piano as well. It adds a touch of class to what is already a great sound.
I want this version of this song played at my funeral.
It is reminiscent of EJ Funeral for a Friend.
This song reminds me of when you loose someone but you remember all the good and wild times you had with them. Heart wrenchingly wonderful.
Spot on
Ahhhhhh as soon as it starts you know what version it is... And no matter how many times you've heard it... YOU'RE BLOWN AWAY!!
@9:30 bliss begins... I wanna hear this over and over when I am lying in my grave.. Until then I run! 79 shows and counting!

Incredible, beautiful version. Can't believe how underrated it is. This band constantly surprises me every time. Even this late in my fandom.

I understand completely seriously 😢❤!!!!
Really? There's no excuse for me hearing this version 14 years after it was played. I could punch myself in the jaw right now...
Try 21 years...
My comment was 6 years ago lol. So yeah, it will keep going higher.
