The Insane Story of Tim Hensons Signature Guitar
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 июн 2023
- In this video I look at Tim Hensons T0D10N are how it came to be one of the top selling guitars of 2020. Polyphia have seen a massive gain in popularity over the last couple of years and their signature guitars are definitely a big part of their image.
This is the story of how the T0D10N was made.
Interview clips from @RickBeato
"ill just do it elsewhere" good move on Tim for making them create the guitar
Fr, he pulled the “if u don’t wanna thats fine, but ima do it”
Interesting enough, he would have gone through Tosin to have him make it.
Pure genius move go Timmy 😊
@@fireingracewouldve been just as sick tbh
@@TheDiamondBladeHD agreed👍
Tim : “you want free money?”
😂
The fact that he does'nt really care about the money is what makes money in this trade
Tárrega holding a TOD10n is something I didn’t think I’d see
Thanks for watching until the end! 😂
@@richardplaysguitardidn't think i would find tarrega on here. Big fan! So i need to be a big fan of you now.
dang it now i have to watch this again, didnt catch that haha
@@TheScientist2233 come on now, nylon string electric is gonna be attracting all the classical guitarists
I think Tarrega would dig this guitar. I have one and I love it! Tone isn’t as good as my Cordoba, but the TOD10n is pretty and super comfortable to play
When I saw Tim playing that guitar I contacted Ibanez asking where I could buy it ... they said "no plans to produce guitar at this stage" ... a few months later I ordered my TOD10n
Should've said you'll do it elsewhere.
During those months Tim said "I'll just do it elsewhere" about production of guitar
cries in lefthanded
And now it's back ordered many places between 6 and 9 months.
Really glad I ordered mine back in November, it was worth the wait. Plays well, sounds well, looks great and very uncommon
Price please

@@Djitterbug thanks
dang i guess i have become old enough to witness a legend of my generation to rise. tim henson is insanely good
He talked about writing the ”Playing God” riff and releasing it as an album teaser just to generate hype about the nylon electric as a proof of concept to Ibanez
Fransico Tarrega with the Tim Henson model made me do a double take
The dj khaled dancing as ibanez took me out😂😂😂 couldn't focus after that😂😂😂
Best move since they made the JEM for Vai
I WANT THIS BEAUTY, MANNNNNN I might save up for months just for this and the THBB10
people forget about the black beauty!
I gotz one 🙋🏻♂️
Tim made a whole discontinued model go from “who would ever play that” to “damn I want that guitar”
Tim knows how to market himself very very well, you see so many Ibanez artists but he is undoubtedly the one that may very well sell more guitars for Ibanez than Steve Vai. He understands how social media and youngsters work, smart move for him to introduce Tree of Death too and made that his signature.
Ibanez also made a fanfret acoustic that was badass.
Was great to see Tárrega with an Ibanez!
Thanks for watching till the end!
Its a nice looking guitar. I never heard her music. Maybe i should check it out
does he know
The guitars tone sucks imo but his playing is insane
The problem with major guitar companies, besides many ethical reasons, is they make production guitars at scale with varying degrees of quality ( yes, I'm looking at you gibson ) but a lot of them tend to just coast on being a legacy name selling guitars modeled on what other people have played and want. They dont innovate and are onky as good or as popular as the people who use them. In this sense, Gibson and fender are the woest. I mean, great, in theory, but if youre paying 2k and upwards for a guitar to have little attention to detail, however small, and no bispoke feel, then that is an insult to every musician. These brands only care about musicians shilling out and doing free publicity, but 2k to a tallented luthier is a significantly better investment for the same price and way more attention to detail for the guitsr you want and works for you.
And you don't wait in line for it!
@@JessicaMorganidepends on the luthier I know Manson at his peak had a waiting list of about 2 years, so sometimes if the luthier is good you REALLY gotta wait for it, I had to wait in line for about 6 months for my bass from a small luthier
I read that as Jim Henson and was utterly confused
His guitar is really a beauty
Godin: Am I joke to you?
They are ass. Insanely overpriced. They managed to do it because of the lack of competition.
Tod10N and Tod10 are my dream guitars
Hope someone brings back the fender 1985 performer, such a beautiful guitar
Tárrega be shredding frfr
Man, I wish they'd make another S-type one. Never been a fan of Telecasters, but love the concept. Fingers crossed it's only a matter of time.
Thank you for this historical information I was very interested to find out where he got that guitar and how he got the idea for his own guitar.
The firs guitar I bought after my very first 40 dollar BMI chunk of plastic, and my first acoustic guitar. It's perfect.
Thank you TIM!
and still hard to get in 2023
I have the FRH10N and I love it so much
bro that image where Francisco Tárrega holding a TD10N is fire bro ngl
I want to buy it tommorow ❤❤ and yamaha wireless acoustic amp ❤❤
This is my dream guitar
I love the prototype "bread" guitar he had of this😂
I would do unspeakable things for the bread guitar. Its one of the sexiest guitars ive ever seen
It's got a unique sound I like it. Truth be told the music world needs companies like Ibanez and Peavey. They make affordable gear that can handle being on tour and every now and then they make some really cool stuff and they will never turn down the chance to make something.
This reminds me of this mitchell acoustic my neighbor has for sale because i can't find it on the internet.
Trew me off guard with DJ Kahled
And it's forever going to be sold out everywhere. Well done Tim
Carla Bruni plays the S model nylon in the film clip for "j'arrive à toi".
Love the terrega profile pic
awesome!! didn't know that Tarrega was Ibanez shredder back in the day...
"what the fuck is DAT" why does Tim say it like that and why is it so damn funny to me 🤣
Nylon just feels better and sounds brighter
If they ever make a bass with a similar design id buy
"WIF is that" its funny as helll
Haha Ibanez replied “no no no we want the moolah” 😂
Still have to use a waitlist to get one lol
WOW THIS IS INSANE
I'm kind if interested. I'm a fan of Ibanez instruments and taught myself basic guitar on a nylon acoustic. Would be interested on how this feels and the pricepoint
I miss ya Dave!!
As a Spaniard I was so confused hering Ibanez over and over. Then I realized they were saying Ibañez
Credit Rick Beato for using clips from his RUclips video/interview with Tim.
This guy is also a master puppeteer
Never heard a story so "insane"
Insane! A guitar player asked for a guitar and the company eventually made it
@@szeretlek-sokpractically unheard of
It's crazy to me to see Tim convince americans to buy a Brazilian guitar!
Talk about a commercial success. I’m in Australia desperately trying to buy one but they’re sold out LITERALLY everywhere
We suffer together lol. People on ebay are selling for nearly 2k lol.
@@x217xwebblet's hope they hafta' eat them.
get a taylor or godin they're better
@@juffurey I’ll have a look now. Thanks for the recommendation!
If you order one today (dec 22 2023) from Sweetwater. Expect to get it mid April 2024.
not dj khaled dancing like that 💀
Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe it failed because it sounds like a toy ukulele you’d buy for 20 dollars before forgetting it at the bottom of your closet
Should have made it like the rg series...
This is kind of misrepresenting what happened. Tim said that he reached out and they pretty much said right away that they would do it. Tim just worded it like he would make his own like that without their support but in that interview he says that they were on board from the beginning.
Cool
I love nylon strings so❤❤❤
The "Todion"
I need a seven string model
The definition of “insane” needs to seriously be reevaluated.
Well as you know that guitar WILL MAKE YOU SOUND LIKE HIM
You can also get a Godin guys !
Insane
Its a shait guitar. Just sold it thank god
Maybe now they can make one that sounds half as good as a Godin.
Whats the tuning
Wonder what kind of crazy storm of coincidences made it a failure in the first place?
So its basically an acoustic electric nylon string with a solid body?
Proof positive that money talks.
And this is how tim is becoming the Ibanez CEO lmao 🤣
He then used these guitars to create the Muppets and the rest is history. What a legend.
only nylon string guitar I'd think about buying😊
I wish I could say "I texted Ibanez"
So it’s not the guitar, but guitarist that makes the guitar. Or am I incorrect?
Yeah... If you grab a cheap nilon guitar and punch a hole in the back of it so it loses the bass resonances you get something similar!
This or the godin twice the price though ?
I find it interesting how Ibanez has artist models for 20 people you've probably never heard of but they give Tim a hard time about this model.
This is acoustic guitar or eletric?
This is the most underwhelming insane story I’ve ever heard
Sooo cooool!!!!!
Still can't get over the fact he has a face of a 12 year old
Yes and the guitar skills of Steve Vai on steroids.
Asian
@@Lovell93 they’re different styles entirely. Tim couldn’t play Vai’s stuff without lots of practice
@@FuriousGeorge_We let the fanboys set the tone for this overrated guy and now we all have to pay the awkward price
Haha. You know Tim threaned Ibanez in an indirect way when he told them he would it with elsewhere. 😂. How can they refuse one of the top Ibanez artist of our time?
THAT'S A NYLON ???
No matter how hard I try, I just can’t enjoy his playing
Music box metal
The guitar is to advance no guitarist can see it potential at that time when Ibanez makes it, until tim appears
Brazilians have been playing nylon electrics for decades. Godin has made these for many years, this is nothing new.
why not just buy a Godin? I have the 7 string classical multiac and it sounds incredible
I think its insane how much guitar players want to be like other guitarists. In my case I blame the autism
Those protecting pill content creators: It just a matrix attack! 🗣
Aba n preach:
I hope he's getting at least 15% from the sales of his model.
Tim knew his worth and didn't hold back, bet ibanez are still thankful to this day they didn't stumble the bag
Nylon guitars have a wildly different sound that you can’t replicate with anything else, good move Ibanez. You would’ve regretted watching someone else have that success
But he also went to the right company as Ibanez were one of the leaders in signature guitars
Played once, never gonna touch this guitar again... No thanks!
