The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
#Graves #Cemeteries #Death
“In death… all humans mingle together in one common dust.”
Deep.
Powerful truth!!
My father died 20 years ago at 48. My mother and him had been together 30 year's then. He wanted to be cremated and buried with Mom instead of being buried and us moving on in life and not being with her wherever life took us. Mother is now 67 and when it's time to bury her my daddy will be buried with her and his headstone will be with her's. ❤
That's sweet
As it she should be, wish people remembered how to love like that in this day but u dont hear to many love stories anymore
Beautiful
That is how we buried my mom and dad. Dad went first. Mom about 20 years later. All children and grandchildren sat under the trees, near my daddy's grave, waiting while they removed the grave slab. There was a space left on the grave stone, for mommy's name. Everything was so peaceful....then we buried mom's ashes with dad, held hands in a circle around the grave and said a prayer, thanking God for our parent's love. It was so special😢
❤
The mayor was clever and brave. May God bless him for honoring his friend’s wish.
She must have been a remarkable woman. True love at its finest.
Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story. Heartbreaking because even in death there was prejudice. I'm glad his friend wasn't and made his final wish happen.
Wow! She was not free alive and He wanted, her in bondage dead also. The backward minds of this broadcast. Nothing has changed,
Would love to have a Black woman, in your grave today! Possessive, It must had been, hell for her on earth. Someone possessing her, like that. She could not even fall in love, with, who she loved, after he died., Wow! That is what, you call ilove! Get a life!🛑
what a heathen act. There was no such thing, as Common Law, back then.
Yes his friend got his blessings too thave them both together he also was a good person ❤ Thankyou
with all what was going on at that time they fell in love now there together....
Resting In Eternity Forever.....
Great Story Ron Thanks....
This cemetery is beautiful with the big trees and hanging moss.
A beautiful story, and a beautiful message on that tombstone for those who objected to her burial there.
I can appreciate the respect that John Jackson gave them especially during the days of extreme racism. Their love was honored after their death which is beautiful
I absolutely love the epithet on the gravestone! May we all remember that our Lord created ONE FLESH, from which ALL of humanity descends! When we die we return to the dust from which we were created, and the dust sees not and heeds not skin color or “race”. The dust neither differentiates nor discriminates but embraces all who are reunited with it. While we still live we should strive to do as the dust does, never forgetting that our Creator loves and cherishes us equally.
It's very beautiful ❤️
Love it ❤
Only together if you're in one spirit in Christ..
My wife passed away a 18 months ago. Before she did we talked about me being add to her casket. Talked to the undertaker about doing this. It would take about 6 months to do but only if a judge would go along. We will be side by side.

So true. My family includes many nationalities and my first cousins, great nieces are biracial. I learned at an early age that love has no boundaries or limits.
I have respect colour should never matter we are Al equal IAM glad they are together Nancy and William people should never judge because colour
Kudos to mayor Jackson for making that happen not to many years ago it was considered taboo let alone then but love is truly blind even to a society that wasn't may they rest in peace together
I think it so romantic - - I know that a famous Finnish-American female accordionist who died in 1958 had her ashes kept by her musician husband for the next 35 years [I know - he showed her ashes to me back in 1983.]. At his death in 1993, he was buried in a coffin holding/cradling in his arms - her urn. Together - forever. I hope to be able to do this with my female life partner.
This is beautiful uncle josh .. May true love find all of us who are searching for it❤

I lived in Tampa 22 years and never heard about this. Beautiful story. Thank you.
I am from Mississippi, there are many stories like this that will never be told. regardless, of the outcome, a lot of people crossed racial lines to love each other, since the beginning of Ms history
No it’s not regular of the out come
Yes! My mother's side of the family originally came from historic Woodville Mississippi. Both sides of her family had mixed relationships. On her father's side were Jewish men falling in love with black women and having children. On her mom's side were Irish American men falling in love with black women. 😊
RIP Mr. William and Ms Nancy. It is true that people do pass away of broken hearts. It happened to my Grandfather and Grandmother (father's parents) they both passed away within 8 mounths of each other. You did a beautiful tribute to them Ron . Also right off the bat I did get your presidential trivia question right. I love it when you put those kind of questions or teasers in your stories.
I believe so. I believe my father would die of a broken heart if my mom passes away before him. He loves her so much. He would be lost without her.
Ive heard. After slavery. There were lots if these types of couples
I don't know if you recall Uvalde shooting where the husband of the deceased teacher had a heart attach days after the event a believe. Now, that really is dying of a broken heart. High school sweethearts. SOme may argue that a health issue was already present, but I think that really did it.

I heard about the husband of one of the teachers who have died in Uvalde. I believe he died of a broken heart 😓.
Yes, a broken heart death happened to my daddy when my mother died 7 mos. before. 🥀🥀😢
This is a touching story and thanks for bringing it to us. The Mayor was a good friend indeed and brave also, things could have gone badly for him as a result of his actions. I love the tombstone and the wise reflections left upon it....timeless and true over the years.
Yes, the reflections on the tombstone where so wise and might have raised a problem considering the era.

Even today, most cemeteries are still segregated in small towns.
Beautiful story Ron. Sadly there is no pictures of them. He loved her unconditionally. I have no problem with this. Just imagine the ones we don't know and probally will never know. Today couples are more free to express thier love. Not just blacks and white but other races too. I don't judge anyone. It has happened in my own family. They was accepted and loved as such. It's sad how much hatred. Prejudice and racism there is. No racism and prejudice is not the same. Some hate thier own color and that's not racist. No mix marriage is not always accepted, still frowned upon. But back then when slavery was legal. There was no way would they have been allowed to marry. It was hidden. She could be his lover his servant, his slave, but not his wife. Many would of thought nothing of that because it was ok to bare the masters children. The slaves had no say. Frankly I don't think prejudice and racism is going to go away. Not in my lifetime. This man did not hide his love for this woman. Brave man. Braver still was the man who made sure they was buried together.👍👏👏👏another great vlog and story Ron. You keep surprising us.🙂.I look forward to your next video. I LOVE THIS! What a great friend they had in Mayor Jackson. How wonderful that people exist that see beyond the skin color. What a sweet love story! ❤
If not for the media always trying to keep the people divided by any means possible, with race being one of their number one tools of the trade, I think more of us than not do see beyond skin color. Of course, back in 1873, I'm sure there were quite a few racists running around, but even then the good Mayor is a glowing example that that was not the case for everyone.
And lovely story too 😊
Such a touching and beautiful story! Be now at peace William and Nancy. True love lives on.
I love the way the burial was resolved. What God has joined together, no one can put it asunder.

I'm literally in tears but of joy.. I'm glad they got to be together for all eternity.. love knows no color, only love ascends above .. Rest in Paradise Mr. William and Miss Nancy
They could have claimed master/servant because it was the only ‘acceptable’ solution if she was aware he was a man of some status. This would have meant that neither would be accosted or harassed. It was common in the upper south

I'm glad it worked out that someone in a position of power did the right thing and buried them together as they both wanted in a time when doing so caused him a great amount of problems no doubt.
It is sad that something as simple as the natural pigmentation of one's skin causes such an uproar inside some people even to this day. It is sad that differences still cause some people to mistreat others to this day. Differences in skin color, in physical challenges, in accent, in dialect, in language, in religion, whatever it is,....people still point out those differences and pick on others about them. That is sad that so many cannot evolve and grow and progress to where they are accepting of each other's differences.
Thanks Ron, I'm glad that they were able to be together, it was the right thing to do. The mayor was a good guy to see that they got their wishes fulfilled.
Love comes in many colors. Interracial love is full of color. More color is more life and love.
I truely hope it was her desire to live and be buried with him. That would be a beautiful ending to the story. Then again sometimes stories become romanticised over years and truth is lost. Whatever it is, thank you for this site, you do a great job to bring us back to another time.❤️
My thoughts exactly. I think it's worth noting that she just asked for a decent burial, not necessarily with him. And that the mayor used his own money for doctors for her gave me pause. Why didn't her master/lover make provisions for her to be taken care of financially? Just some thoughts.

That was a beautiful story! I wholeheartedly believe that you should do all you can to honor a person’s last wish weather you agree with it or not it’s the last thing you will ever do for them!
This was a beautiful love story. It is unfortunate that race was an issue for them. Sadly, there still are segregated cemeteries. Plant City, FL (just outside of Tampa) still has segregated cemeteries.
We are all God's children. God sees no color just love for us all. Love is love.
It is my believe William and Nancy are together in Heaven. Also, color of skin should and does not make a difference for love. John Jackson is an example to everyone. God created all people and The good friend John Jackson did the most and best action to take care of Bancy and see to it the couple were buried together. The goodness of those efforts are praiseworthy in the highest regard by our Creator. The progression of these fine souls is unimaginable higher than most. What a beautiful love story. So glad that William and Nancy are together. RIP to both of them. Great story Ron.
I loved it its beautiful
Thomas Jefferson had six children by his slave, Sally Hemings. DNA proves that this is so. Yet he would only allow his children by Sally to be free only after they came of age. Thomas wrote in the Declaration of Independence that "All men are created equal", yet that was not true. He wrote it as his slave, Sally was stoking his fire and serving his dinner. Thomas Jefferson was a very confused man. Sally was the half-sister of Thomas Jefferson's wife, Martha.
Enjoyed listening to this love story. In the grave all human distinction of race or caste mingle together in one common dust. So happy that his friend was able to honor his wish despite the opposition from the town people.
Hello Ron. Hope you’re having a wonderful day

I’m really sad it’s actually kind of cool that they’ve kept the cemetery and talked in the middle of a city and the hub of progress it’s an honor to those who died and are buried there… Human decency is still out there you don’t build on burial grounds

Segregated cemeteries were ARE DEFINITELY A THING!!!! Right until this very day! Most black families are buried together just like most white families. @@rmelcornelious8847 I know they are, I saw it in a video - but all I said was that I didn’t realize that until I’d seen a video, there aren’t separate black/white cemeteries here. Even the Chinese were usually in a part of the cemetery, but their part was separate from the rest. Also separate cemeteries for poor people, but no black/white.
