That's Wonderful they're adding more police officers on transit.

  • @sticklerforchange

It's great that they are posting some cops to the transit system, but eighty isn't enough, and paying them overtime is penny wise and pound foolish, they need to hire more full time cops.

At Royal York subway stn today, there was a huddle of 4 cops chatting in a corner of the station - nowhere near the liquor store at one exit, nor the milling groups of highschoolers crowding the bus bays. Not the most strategic placement for officers ... Did I feel safer ..? Not really. Can you say "lip service"?

Let's hope they were just having a brief huddle and then started patrolling around later.

I was watching ctv powerplay and I heard that oooh it wouldn't be forever thing we'll of course not..but we as public will hav to come 2gether and surveillance ourselves like self defense lmoaa

Ken, this is the first time I've disagreed with you. About your saying the media has whipped up a frenzy over the recent TTC attacks. I think you used too strong language on that. I see it as good information for the public. As an elderly woman 5'4" & 110 lbs., I feel vulnerable in this city now. I want to be informed as to any violence occurring in my beloved city. I ask that you look at this situation from a different perspective. I've lived in Toronto for over 80 years and seen many changes, some good, some not so good. This wave of violence in our city needs to be addressed and the media has brought it into the spotlight as it should. That is their job. Inform the people.

I have to turn off the news in the states because they always harp on the same thing. Whenever there is a school shooting or major event somewhere in the states they talk about it for days and make people afraid. There is violence in every city but the media does overdramatize things on some issues. All major cities have violence. Do you believe everything the media says?

I respect your opinion, and of course the media should inform people, but I just feel like now they're hyper focused on reporting every single incident that occurs on the TTC in a way they never did before. They know that people are scared and this is the currently trending topic that will get them lots of eyes and clicks, so they're milking it for everything they can get. I'd say that one disagreement after all this time is still really good. haha Thanks for watching!
