I’ve FINALLY got to a point to where I can throw away makeup that I don’t like. I’m 62 so a real milestone for me. I work hard for my money but now know unless it brings me beauty and joy it’s gone!
Dawn is great! Another tip I learned from a MUA was to use the antibacterial Softsoap hand soap. Because it's designed for hands, it's pretty gentle and it's got the antibacterial formula as a plus. So I generally use that or Dawn because they work really well to break up the make-up and they are gentle on the brush fibers.
Dawn works great for cleaning makeup brushes or Castille soap. Also, I've used water and baking soda, although you have to dunk them several times in the warm water and baking soda to get them clean. Just a gentle alternative for brush cleansing.

One thing I’m surprised about when it comes to cleaning brushes and or sponges is, why no one has suggested using makeup remover to remove makeup from their tools. First time I used a beauty blender for foundation, I washed it with soap and water and scrubbed it. I didn’t like the stain the foundation left after, and as you say, I had a light bulb moment (you say that, don’t you?). I use the Clinique melt the day away makeup remover. It removed the makeup stain. Then I washed it with soap and water and the sponge looked brand new. Can anyone tell me if they knew this already?
I had this same thought recently! I've started using micellar water to clean my brushes in between deep cleans. It cleans them really well and it dries pretty fast, and it's so much cheaper than the brush cleaner I was using. I've also just been using dish soap to deep clean my brushes, I feel like it's probably more effective than the micellar water at removing germs, and stains don't bother me.
I actually use makeup wipes to clean my brushes daily. I keep the wipe on my lap while I'm doing my makeup, and I clean my brushes as I go. If I have to re-use a brush, I dry it on my color-change pad - they don't get saturated using a wipe though. I also use silicone beauty blenders as my palette instead of the back of my hand. Great for foundation or when you're mixing creams/lip colors.
I’ve been using the Inkey List cleansing balm for my makeup brushes. It’s cheap, and you get a lot of product. I don’t like using it for my face, but it’s perfect for my brushes!
I have the nyx brow pen and I love it! Mine does go on very sharp and precise and I agree your was not anything like that humm maybe a defected one🤷♀️
I did not like the Maybelline sky high mascara. It dried in clumps after application and fell into my eye causing me issues with my contact lenses. I even bought it a second time in case the first was just a bad batch but the same thing happened. I also really don’t like wet n wilds photo focus foundation- the smell is awful and I find it watery.
I didn't much care for the sky high mascara either but I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOVE photo focus found... the matte one...dewy one and tinted moisturizer skin tint! Love them all.
Too funny bc I love the UD Brow blade and find the NYX one is almost a spot on dupe and the Elf putty bronzers I also love BUT- I use a DRY SPONGE and mix Feelin Shady (the gray one) with Honey Drip and the shade is much better and lasts all day when I reviewed them on my oily dehydrated skin. Love how everyone has different experiences! It makes it fun 🥰
I can't believe you don't like the NYX lift and snatch. It is great! I respectfully disagree with you but, I agree with the other products that I have tried you just talked about. You look beautiful!

Dr. Bronners liquid soap in lavender. Hands down the BEST makeup brush and sponge cleaner I’ve ever used. And a TINY bit goes a long way! And it’s made in the USA, vegan, organic, cruelty free and a company with good values! I’m addicted to the lemon lime oil chap sticks too. Great for lips, cheeks, and dry hands!

The only things from your list I wanted were the putty primers and the plumpers but I decided to wait on both, and I’m glad I did! I trust your opinions on products. I have dusty-dry Casper skin and your advice that typically runs along the lines of, “I’m oily so if you have dry skin…,” is always spot on. So thank you so much. I can tell you have a heart of service and I really appreciate and relate to that. ❤️
I totally agree with you on the Maybelline Fit Me Tinted Moisturiser and the Elf Brush Cleaner. No matter how I applied the moisturiser it kept beaking up after 3 to 4 hours!! Let's not go their brysh cleaner, let's just say DITTO!!
I love watching your videos so much & keep a notebook on what to buy & what to skip. Your videos are always so helpful & I love it when you show how things wear after several hours. One product that I tried in 2021 that everyone raved about but I had terrible luck with was the e.l.f. putty blush. I bought 2 colors (Tahiti & Caribbean) & fell in love with the idea but the results were totally sub-par. No matter what primer/foundation/setting combo I used, the oils in the blush ate away at all my coverage & showed my tiny broken capillaries underneath. It had less to do with how it was applied (fingers vs. brush) but more to do with the formula. I like medium to full coverage foundation (50F) & they just didn't light me up at all. I tried using them as a lip stain before I tossed them (I HATE throwing makeup out) but they didn't wear well on my lips. One face palette I'd like to recommend is Makeup Revolution X The Simpsons "Spooktacular" Face Palette. I bought it on a whim at the same time as the putty blushes to use as a backup. I love The Simpsons & got suckered into the artwork on the cover but I use it every day...the colors are really flattering (I'm a cool winter) & wear well. Have you tried the waterproof one. I have that mascara and have for quite some time and have never had it flake or smudge cause it's the waterproof formula.
It’s interesting that you put Nyx’s brow pen within the worst bunch but I actually like it! I have combination to oily skin and it lasts long on me, and the color payoff is not too much-perfect for natural brows. It just shows how different products work on different people 😆.
It's also the way you apply different brow products make it work differently. With the Nyx brow pen I have to actually flick the pen up on the brow and I get great hair like strokes.🤗💕
I had a different experience with the nyx. I love it . In fact I also tried the abh brow pen and I didn't like that one. But they are the only 2 I've tried. Maybe I should just stick to the nyx. I don't want my expectations to get to high Lol Great video
Profusion pallettes are the worst ive ever bought, the eyshadows, the blush, the bronzer, the blush and glow, the concealer pallette. Made a mistake buying all at once off their website. And when I wrote to them they did not even reply to me.
I enjoyed Wet n Wild eyeshadows. There were great drugstore buy: outstanding quality and cheap. However, when they hop on the bag wagon and started coming up with limited edition collections as few other brands the quality of their eyeshadows went down. I used to be exited about Wet n Wild products now - not so much.
My eyes eat WnW eyeshadows. I don't know if it's the pH of my lids that basically erases them or worse makes them muddy (I don't have oily eyelids). I've had some budget euro brands (Sleek and the later Essence and Catrice releases) that do better than those sans primer.
I don't buy special editions anymore. They exchange quality for gimmick-y "pretty" looking pallets, and not just wet n wild either! Tarte and Too Faced as well!!
FINALLY someone else who hated the Elf putty bronzers! I felt like I was crazy for thinking they were terrible because I kept seeing them on so many "best makeup of 2021" videos. But I thought they were terrible. On me they seemed dry, hard to blend and work with, patchy, just bad. So happy I'm not the only one lol
LOL ... I saw so many people loving the Covergirl Outlast foundation! hate it. broke up looked like I had patches of clay on my face. I want to try it again but not sure how.
I have several failures for the year and hopefully this will resonate with others. First, I do not understand the hype around the L'OREAL serum foundation. It sits like chalk dust on my face no matter how hard I try to work it in or which shade I use. Awful. I will say mixing it in with other foundations like Elf Camo CC Cream helps both of those very disappointing products. Another is Elf's eyeshadow primer. I got a bottle directly from Elf, which I usually love,.but this was dry and hardly any product was in it! Another product that isn't new but baffles me is the ubiquitous L'Oreal infallible foundation. I recently repurchased it and remembered why I don't like it. It rubs off my face in certain spots even before I'm done with the rest of my makeup! It doesn't matter which primer I use. And I have to agree with you on the Elf.putty bronzer. It seems like when Elf does well, they do amazingly well. What they do badly, they do really badly. BTW the Nyx makeup brush cleaning spray smells awful,too.
The elf daily brush cleaner is terrible! I had the worst eye reactions to it! For awhile I thought it was the makeup I was using but it was the dang cleaner!!! The perfume is terrible and irritates my eyes.
Lordy that Fit Me tinted moisturizer wore terrible on me. I was super excited to try the Maybelline Lash Discovery waterproof because of all the hype but it still smudged on my lower lashes. I didn't even know Elf had a brush cleaner. I've used micellar water to clean my tools for years so i never really look at that stuff. I did not like the Burt's Bees shimmer lip gloss thingy. The slim one. It wasn't so much the formula it was the scent. It was supposed to be minty but came off as more eucalyptus, almost like Vicks Vapo Rub or something. Ugh.
May be an oldie but I always hated the Laura mercier translucent setting powder. I tried it so many times and kept thinking I was crazy since everyone else loved it but it made my skin look dry and crepe-y.

I know many people like fragrant products. In my opinion, except for a mildly scented lip product, fragrance should be removed from products, used on or around, the face. One product that failed for me in 2021, was the Elf Holy Hydration Cream. It gave me a rash.
Elf putty primer....i know everyone RAVES about them, but they seemed to make my makeup fade quicker on any place I ever touched even for a split second
Fenty black triangular pencil eyeliner went right in to the trash. Waxy and skippy. No color pay off. I’m about to date myself with this reference, but I thought I was going to have to pull out a Zippo lighter circa 1975 and hold it in the flame in order to get any kind of line from it.
Another elf product that was an atomic bomb I thought were the elf putty eye primers. They’re SO bad! I pulled out the black one to see if I could figure out what to do with it, and after swatching, it was dry (not creamy at all), it doesn’t soften with your skin warmth, patchy and it pills. I was hoping for a paint pot dupe but no way Jose.
Darn it, I just ordered the NYX Brow pen yesterday! Will still give it a go and see what happens as I'm on a never ending mission to find the best brow product that works for me. Also, I feel the same way about the e.l.f. putty products- didn't like the bronzer (it looks patchy and fades so quickly) , but love the blush (I have the shade Tahiti which looks gorgeous)!
i got that brow pen based on some other youtuber's recommendation and it was just okay. i have a little more hair than Zabrena so i can make it work as a fill in but i would never buy another one bc i also like to see the brush strokes. good luck! haha

Not a dud but u gotta try DeeDees signature eyeshadows!! Affordable and absolutely stunning! I just bought her newest palette the neutral wonder.. neutrals with duo chromes and buttery mattes just stunning!! it came beautifully wrapped with a hand signed Christmas card from the brand owner herself! She even wrapped the pallet like a gift! And I'm a no body!!

I can't stand the elf putty blush. I mostly love elf products but I can't get along with that product. With regards to overpowering scent, I picked up a Garnier BB cream which is hands-down the best one I've used, BUT the scent is so strong! It's stronger than my perfume and if I've got even a mild headache, even the thought of it makes me feel sick. Make up and cosmetic companies need to stop doing this. I feel the same about dry shampoo; so many of them smell of something sickly that takes over my actual perfume
I’m just not a fan of E.L.F. products. The eyeshadow quads and blush putty just didn’t wow me. The Camo concealer sucked any moisture from my under eyes. By the end of the day, it looked awful…like I aged 30 years! I ended up pitching everything! I discovered a wonderful concealer from Lancôme. Yes it’s more expensive but the quality is so much better!
I had difficulty with applying the putty blushes with a brush. I love the colors, but ended up using my fingers and patting it in. They work for me now doing that.
Most of my ELF makeup was tossed this year. I realized the line just does not work for me personally. I do like ELF brushes though! TFS susie in the south
I have drugstore brands I have absolute discrimination against (ELF, Maybelline, Rimmel, Wet n' Wild, L'Oreal and ColourPop are the worst offenders). Thank you for telling me that stuff hasn't changed for most of those and they're still garbage.🤮

Please keep roasting without mercy, you don't know how funny you are 💖* *If you still have those ELF putty bronzers and want to give them a second chance (as a blush maybe, bc of the shade) I'd suggest applying very thin layers at a time. At least in this video your brush seemed to have too much product at once. Also, the brush. I've seen ppl with fair skin get an impeccable application using it as contour with a less dense brush. They did use a different shade, so it looked very natural.*

While I haven't encountered a product I don't like, I was disappointed that the L'Oreal HydraPerfecte Powder seems to be discontinued...that was MY go-to for a good setting powder! I have found Wet 'N' Wild's PhotoFocus setting powder an acceptable replacement so far! Would love to know what Zabrena thinks. I tried it because she likes a lot of the WNW products, and it fits my budget very well. My budget, by the way, is ... drugstore.
Emily Noel is a huge fan of the Wet n Wild photo focus loose powder as well as a couple of other products in the photo focus line... maybe check her channel for additional input :)
I actually love the ELF daily brush cleaner. I wash my brushes every weekend and use the daily spray each weekday. I even love the scent. It’s like… cucumber? It’s fresh and yes it remains on the brush but I find it nice! Goes to show sometimes what works for me may not work for you! ( taking a phrase from you!) 🤣 pretty much all other products I agree with you on in this video. I had the same experience in the ones I tried.
Mine was especially the tarte shape tape.. It creased and was a mess for me no matter how much and how I used it... Disappointing since its such a praised product
The e.l.f. Lash it Loud mascara didn’t work for me at all. It didn’t add length or volume to my lashes, and it flaked and smudged under my eyes so bad! I even tried it with a lash primer and got the same results.
Wet and wild con sealer stick and photo focus foundation. It smells like paint and doesn’t last on my skin. I’m officially writing off the brand from my go to list. LA Girl foundation (liquid) perfect match but only last for three hours on my face.
Thank you, I thought it's just unfortunate of me to get those WnW foundations that smelled like paint. Why do WnW stuff smells like they belong in a hardware store? Catsuit lipsticks smell and feel like varnish to me.😅
The worst product I found this year was probably the Charolette Tilbury flawless filter foundation. It was so iridescent I think it would work better as a cream highlight! Extremely disappointed

Oh, no! I bought the LA Girl tinted foundation for myself for Christmas. Now I have to try it. I also tried one if the ELF putty bronzers and I agree completely. These have no place at all on the makeup table! I threw it away after trying it twice; I didn't want to give it away and subject someone I like to it.

Then one day it’s oily to use (if that makes any sense) I don’t have time for that!!! Yass I agree it fades with blending out, I had to set them after. Milani Lip Max Plumper and Their 2 N 1 foundation is it something in there…But I had allergic reaction to them. But I used their stuff before… That’s weird.. I tried it in 2021… No allergic reaction 🤯🤦♀️ The Maybelline Skin Tint work for my dry and combo tzone. I set the NyX Can’t stop… Will stop 🤣🤣🤣 with the Putty Bronzers. Work good together. I skipped the Saved by the bell collection.
I didn’t like the Elf putty bronzer but I love their putty blushes. I’m probably in the minority but I wish I had never purchased the ND Glam palette this year. It was $65 and honestly I prefer my CP That’s Taupe palette. I can get the exact same look. 🤷🏻♀️
Man, I'm so surprised about the NYX Lift & Snatch brow pen. I've got some anemic brows and I use that daily to make those tiny brow hair strokes before I fill them in with a powder. I really think you got a bad one... I've never tried the Brow Blade but I'm quite happy with the NYX version! And I do like lip plumpers so I bought one of the Milani Keep it Full glosses. I remember I applied it in the car when we were going somewhere and I was so glad my husband was driving. That got so sting-y that I seriously thought I'd have to wipe it off! Luckily it did calm down but that was quite intense! Thinking back now, I haven't used that item again! Ha, you were right!!
The ones I couldn’t stand were Elf camo hydrating concealer (to heavy and drying and I have oily/dry combo skin) Elf camo cc cream (I’m fair to light with a neutral skin tone..it was way to heavy and light and the next shade up is way too dark and made my skin look makeup-y and heavy) Catrice clean ID skin tint Maybelline sky high non waterproof mascara (way to heavy and clump fest) but I don’t mind the waterproof version Maybelline fit me tinted moisturizer (blotchy, doesn’t work, doesn’t layer on products well) Rare beauty cream blush (blended away, I tried many methods) Flower beauty cream blush (blended away no matter how much I layered or technique ) Elf liquid highlighter (way to oily and glittery)
Oh the dissapointment of shoddy make up products! I had this with Garnier's BB cream - Anti-aging skin perfector. Awful, gloopy, thick, streaky mess! And wasn't cheap either *outside US. Such a let down.
Appreciate you doing this video. Nice to hear what to avoid. Had only two real disappointments this year: the Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation - I'm certain they have changed the formula. Have purchased a few years ago and really liked it. Found it almost sticky and hard to blend. Also heard so much about the LA Girl Eyeliners, tried Glide Eyeliner in Metallic Copper. Performs poorly, skips while applying, color not impressive.
I bought the L'Oreal La Palette Nude Intense in the #112 colors. They look so pretty in the pan and I thought I'd really like them. Not so much. The colors just kinda muddy together. I am so disappointed in this palette. Otherwise, I really love L'Oreal makeup. Maybe the colors are better suited for a warmer complexion, which I do not have. I have dark brown hair with silver bling and green eyes. I gravitate more towards purples/cool tones. Sigh...oh well. I sometimes will use the palette if I'm just going to run a quick errand and want some color on my eyes. Zabrena, thanks for sharing products that didn't work for you! I clean my brushes and sponges with micellar water, any cheap drugstore brand works just fine! First I soak them a bit with micellar water to melt the makeup and then I wash them with mild soap and warm water and leave them to air dry. Good as new! No need to purchase expensive 'cleaners' which do nothing. And by the way, I hated the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation MATTE because the texture of the product is really weird, it looked very cakey on my skin and didn't last at all.
For me the nyx brow snatch is God sent because I have no brows but I need it with a thin pencil like the urban decay brow blade but I find I go through it so quickly
I had an even worse experience with the Elf putty bronzers. I bought the lightest shade (very cool toned) to use as a contour shade but even though I’m about as fair as you, I couldn’t get it to even show up on my skin! It blended away instantly! I got determined and bought darker shades and they blend away too! I’m not going to go fighting to get these to show up on my face anymore. I mean sheesh. What a waste of $$.😏Luckily they weren’t that expensive but still…a waste is a waste! Very frustrating to say the least.
Putty bronzer and blushes looked like my skin was coming off in places, just so bad! I've never tried something that odd looking makeup wise usually if I don't like a product it is preference thing, but I think these were straight up formulated bad, gonna try the milani cream blushes and the undone beauty blushes next
Shine Loud on a Mission liquid lipstick was a huge disappointment. Someone said it was a dupe for Chanel duel ended lipstick. Now that I have both I can tell that NYX is not a dupe for Chanel. It was so crumbly on my lips and made a ring around my mouth and did not say on. Mess.
I use the matte fit me a lot with the pore filling primer by Nyx. shade 118 and gorgeous. I also thew away the stupid tent. I do not like most drug store. I do also do a cringe worthy no to the ELF primmer?? Why anyone likes it is they must be young. I also think Miani anything is bad. I like the lipstick tho. I alos really dont understand skin tent. The Maybelline was terrible I agree. I am also 60 with olive undertones the shades were so sad.

Yes! I use my liquid makeup remover to wash my brushes periodically. Then follow up with a little Dawn to get the oiliness out.

I have the nyx brow pen and I love it! Mine does go on very sharp and precise and I agree your was not anything like that humm maybe a defected one🤷♀️
I did not like the Maybelline sky high mascara. It dried in clumps after application and fell into my eye causing me issues with my contact lenses. I even bought it a second time in case the first was just a bad batch but the same thing happened. I also really don’t like wet n wilds photo focus foundation- the smell is awful and I find it watery.

Agree! Bad clumping and It burned my eyes. & don't usually have trouble with mascaras. I have tried a Gazzilion of them. LOL
I didn't much care for the sky high mascara either but I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOVE photo focus found... the matte one...dewy one and tinted moisturizer skin tint! Love them all.

Strangely enough I love Sky High Mascara. One of my best ever.
Too funny bc I love the UD Brow blade and find the NYX one is almost a spot on dupe and the Elf putty bronzers I also love BUT- I use a DRY SPONGE and mix Feelin Shady (the gray one) with Honey Drip and the shade is much better and lasts all day when I reviewed them on my oily dehydrated skin. Love how everyone has different experiences! It makes it fun 🥰

Dr. Bronners liquid soap in lavender. Hands down the BEST makeup brush and sponge cleaner I’ve ever used. And a TINY bit goes a long way! And it’s made in the USA, vegan, organic, cruelty free and a company with good values! I’m addicted to the lemon lime oil chap sticks too. Great for lips, cheeks, and dry hands!

The only things from your list I wanted were the putty primers and the plumpers but I decided to wait on both, and I’m glad I did! I trust your opinions on products. I have dusty-dry Casper skin and your advice that typically runs along the lines of, “I’m oily so if you have dry skin…,” is always spot on. So thank you so much. I totally agree with you on the Maybelline Fit Me Tinted Moisturiser and the Elf Brush Cleaner. No matter how I applied the moisturiser it kept beaking up after 3 to 4 hours!! Let's not go their brysh cleaner, let's just say DITTO!!

I love watching your videos so much & keep a notebook on what to buy & what to skip. Your videos are always so helpful & I love it when you show how things wear after several hours. One product that I tried in 2021 that everyone raved about but I had terrible luck with was the e.l.f. putty blush. I bought 2 colors (Tahiti & Caribbean) & fell in love with the idea but the results were totally sub-par. No matter what primer/foundation/setting combo I used, the oils in the blush ate away at all my coverage & showed my tiny broken capillaries underneath. It had less to do with how it was applied (fingers vs. brush) but more to do with the formula. I like medium to full coverage foundation (50F) & they just didn't light me up at all. I tried using them as a lip stain before I tossed them (I HATE throwing makeup out) but they didn't wear well on my lips. One face palette I'd like to recommend is Makeup Revolution X The Simpsons "Spooktacular" Face Palette. I bought it on a whim at the same time as the putty blushes to use as a backup. I love The Simpsons & got suckered into the artwork on the cover but I use it every day...the colors are really flattering (I'm a cool winter) & wear well. L'Oreal Lash Paradise mascara was my big FAIL. If my eyes teared up or got wet for any reason it would just run down my face!! Huge disappointment.
Have you tried the waterproof one. I have that mascara and have for quite some time and have never had it flake or smudge cause it's the waterproof formula.
It’s interesting that you put Nyx’s brow pen within the worst bunch but I actually like it! I have combination to oily skin and it lasts long on me, and the color payoff is not too much-perfect for natural brows. It just shows how different products work on different people 😆.

It's also the way you apply different brow products make it work differently. With the Nyx brow pen I have to actually flick the pen up on the brow and I get great hair like strokes.🤗💕
I had a different experience with the nyx. I love it . In fact I also tried the abh brow pen and I didn't like that one. But they are the only 2 I've tried. Maybe I should just stick to the nyx. I don't want my expectations to get to high

Profusion pallettes are the worst ive ever bought, the eyshadows, the blush, the bronzer, the blush and glow, the concealer pallette. Made a mistake buying all at once off their website. And when I wrote to them they did not even reply to me.
I enjoyed Wet n Wild eyeshadows. There were great drugstore buy: outstanding quality and cheap. However, when they hop on the bag wagon and started coming up with limited edition collections as few other brands the quality of their eyeshadows went down. I used to be exited about Wet n Wild products now - not so much.
My eyes eat WnW eyeshadows. I don't know if it's the pH of my lids that basically erases them or worse makes them muddy (I don't have oily eyelids). I've had some budget euro brands (Sleek and the later Essence and Catrice releases) that do better than those sans primer.
I don't buy special editions anymore. They exchange quality for gimmick-y "pretty" looking pallets, and not just wet n wild either! Tarte and Too Faced as well!!
Their first batch of eyeshadow were amazing now they're absolutely awful 😢
FINALLY someone else who hated the Elf putty bronzers! I felt like I was crazy for thinking they were terrible because I kept seeing them on so many "best makeup of 2021" videos. But I thought they were terrible. On me they seemed dry, hard to blend and work with, patchy, just bad. So happy I'm not the only one lol
I have learned the hard way, by buying Profusion pallettes, many "influencers" are paid to lie to us about how great a product is.
LOL ... I saw so many people loving the Covergirl Outlast foundation! hate it. broke up looked like I had patches of clay on my face. I want to try it again but not sure how.

I have several failures for the year and hopefully this will resonate with others. First, I do not understand the hype around the L'OREAL serum foundation. It sits like chalk dust on my face no matter how hard I try to work it in or which shade I use. Awful. I will say mixing it in with other foundations like Elf Camo CC Cream helps both of those very disappointing products. Another is Elf's eyeshadow primer. I got a bottle directly from Elf, which I usually love,.but this was dry and hardly any product was in it! Another product that isn't new but baffles me is the ubiquitous L'Oreal infallible foundation. I recently repurchased it and remembered why I don't like it. It rubs off my face in certain spots even before I'm done with the rest of my makeup! It doesn't matter which primer I use. And I have to agree with you on the Elf.putty bronzer. It seems like when Elf does well, they do amazingly well. What they do badly, they do really badly. BTW the Nyx makeup brush cleaning spray smells awful,too.

The elf daily brush cleaner is terrible! I had the worst eye reactions to it! For awhile I thought it was the makeup I was using but it was the dang cleaner!!! The perfume is terrible and irritates my eyes.
Lordy that Fit Me tinted moisturizer wore terrible on me. I was super excited to try the Maybelline Lash Discovery waterproof because of all the hype but it still smudged on my lower lashes. I didn't even know Elf had a brush cleaner. I've used micellar water to clean my tools for years so i never really look at that stuff. I did not like the Burt's Bees shimmer lip gloss thingy. The slim one. It wasn't so much the formula it was the scent. It was supposed to be minty but came off as more eucalyptus, almost like Vicks Vapo Rub or something. Ugh.

May be an oldie but I always hated the Laura mercier translucent setting powder. I tried it so many times and kept thinking I was crazy since everyone else loved it but it made my skin look dry and crepe-y.

I know many people like fragrant products. In my opinion, except for a mildly scented lip product, fragrance should be removed from products, used on or around, the face. One product that failed for me in 2021, was the Elf Holy Hydration Cream. It gave me a rash.

Elf putty primer....i know everyone RAVES about them, but they seemed to make my makeup fade quicker on any place I ever touched even for a split second

Fenty black triangular pencil eyeliner went right in to the trash. Waxy and skippy. No color pay off. I’m about to date myself with this reference, but I thought I was going to have to pull out a Zippo lighter circa 1975 and hold it in the flame in order to get any kind of line from it.
Another elf product that was an atomic bomb I thought were the elf putty eye primers. They’re SO bad! I pulled out the black one to see if I could figure out what to do with it, and after swatching, it was dry (not creamy at all), it doesn’t soften with your skin warmth, patchy and it pills. I was hoping for a paint pot dupe but no way Jose.

Darn it, I just ordered the NYX Brow pen yesterday! Will still give it a go and see what happens as I'm on a never ending mission to find the best brow product that works for me. Also, I feel the same way about the e.l.f. putty products- didn't like the bronzer (it looks patchy and fades so quickly) , but love the blush (I have the shade Tahiti which looks gorgeous)!
i got that brow pen based on some other youtuber's recommendation and it was just okay. i have a little more hair than Zabrena so i can make it work as a fill in but i would never buy another one bc i also like to see the brush strokes. good luck! haha
I really like the NYX one, but i have dry skin instead of oily, so maybe that makes a difference? A bit of brow powder before using the pen helps too.

I just bought her newest palette the neutral wonder.. neutrals with duo chromes and buttery mattes just stunning!! it came beautifully wrapped with a hand signed Christmas card from the brand owner herself! She even wrapped the pallet like a gift! And I'm a no body!!

I can't stand the elf putty blush. I mostly love elf products but I can't get along with that product. With regards to overpowering scent, I picked up a Garnier BB cream which is hands-down the best one I've used, BUT the scent is so strong! It's stronger than my perfume and if I've got even a mild headache, even the thought of it makes me feel sick. Make up and cosmetic companies need to stop doing this. I feel the same about dry shampoo; so many of them smell of something sickly that takes over my actual perfume

I’m just not a fan of E.L.F. products. The eyeshadow quads and blush putty just didn’t wow me. The Camo concealer sucked any moisture from my under eyes. By the end of the day, it looked awful…like I aged 30 years! I ended up pitching everything! I discovered a wonderful concealer from Lancôme. Yes it’s more expensive but the quality is so much better!
I had difficulty with applying the putty blushes with a brush. I love the colors, but ended up using my fingers and patting it in. They work for me now doing that.
That happened to me today! But I rubbed off the top layer with my finger and then dipped my brush and it worked 😊
I've been having trouble with them as well. It seems to lift off my foundation. I'm keep trying to work with mine until I figure out the secret

I have drugstore brands I have absolute discrimination against (ELF, Maybelline, Rimmel, Wet n' Wild, L'Oreal and ColourPop are the worst offenders). Thank you for telling me that stuff hasn't changed for most of those and they're still garbage.🤮

*If you still have those ELF putty bronzers and want to give them a second chance (as a blush maybe, bc of the shade) I'd suggest applying very thin layers at a time. At least in this video your brush seemed to have too much product at once. Also, the brush. I've seen ppl with fair skin get an impeccable application using it as contour with a less dense brush. They did use a different shade, so it looked very natural.*

While I haven't encountered a product I don't like, I was disappointed that the L'Oreal HydraPerfecte Powder seems to be discontinued...that was MY go-to for a good setting powder! I have found Wet 'N' Wild's PhotoFocus setting powder an acceptable replacement so far! Would love to know what Zabrena thinks. I tried it because she likes a lot of the WNW products, and it fits my budget very well. My budget, by the way, is ... drugstore.
Emily Noel is a huge fan of the Wet n Wild photo focus loose powder as well as a couple of other products in the photo focus line... maybe check her channel for additional input :)
The mascara Big Poppa was good for me at first but for some reason after having it for less than a month, it started to clump on the lashes.

I actually love the ELF daily brush cleaner. I wash my brushes every weekend and use the daily spray each weekday. I even love the scent. It’s like… cucumber? It’s fresh and yes it remains on the brush but I find it nice! Goes to show sometimes what works for me may not work for you! ( taking a phrase from you!) 🤣 pretty much all other products I agree with you on in this video. I had the same experience in the ones I tried.
Mine was especially the tarte shape tape.. It creased and was a mess for me no matter how much and how I used it... Disappointing since its such a praised product
Yeah, I was not impressed w/ the Shape Tape concealer sample I used today. Creased so badly and I used the setting spray/makeup sponge hack to set it.

The e.l.f. Lash it Loud mascara didn’t work for me at all. It didn’t add length or volume to my lashes, and it flaked and smudged under my eyes so bad! I even tried it with a lash primer and got the same results.

Wet and wild con sealer stick and photo focus foundation. It smells like paint and doesn’t last on my skin. I’m officially writing off the brand from my go to list. LA Girl foundation (liquid) perfect match but only last for three hours on my face.

I love the NYX brow pen. However, I have no brows. I absolutely adore it and Milani weekend brow and I prefer both over the urban decay brow blade.
The worst product I found this year was probably the Charolette Tilbury flawless filter foundation. It was so iridescent I think it would work better as a cream highlight! Extremely disappointed

Oh, no! I bought the LA Girl tinted foundation for myself for Christmas. Now I have to try it. I also tried one if the ELF putty bronzers and I agree completely. These have no place at all on the makeup table! I threw it away after trying it twice; I didn't want to give it away and subject someone I like to it.

I adore SBTB and that palette was so ugly to me. It seems when WnW does collabs they are hit and miss.

Milani Lip Max Plumper and Their 2 N 1 foundation is it something in there…But I had allergic reaction to them. But I used their stuff before… That’s weird.. I tried it in 2021… No allergic reaction 🤯🤦♀️
The Maybelline Skin Tint work for my dry and combo tzone. I set the NyX Can’t stop… Will stop 🤣🤣🤣 with the Putty Bronzers. Work good together. I skipped the Saved by the bell collection.

I didn’t like the Elf putty bronzer but I love their putty blushes. I’m probably in the minority but I wish I had never purchased the ND Glam palette this year. It was $65 and honestly I prefer my CP That’s Taupe palette. I can get the exact same look. 🤷🏻♀️
Man, I'm so surprised about the NYX Lift & Snatch brow pen. I've got some anemic brows and I use that daily to make those tiny brow hair strokes before I fill them in with a powder. I really think you got a bad one... I've never tried the Brow Blade but I'm quite happy with the NYX version! And I do like lip plumpers so I bought one of the Milani Keep it Full glosses. I remember I applied it in the car when we were going somewhere and I was so glad my husband was driving. That got so sting-y that I seriously thought I'd have to wipe it off! Luckily it did calm down but that was quite intense! Thinking back now, I haven't used that item again! Ha, you were right!!
The ones I couldn’t stand were
Elf camo hydrating concealer (to heavy and drying and I have oily/dry combo skin)
Elf camo cc cream (I’m fair to light with a neutral skin tone..it was way to heavy and light and the next shade up is way too dark and made my skin look makeup-y and heavy)
Catrice clean ID skin tint
Maybelline sky high non waterproof mascara (way to heavy and clump fest) but I don’t mind the waterproof version
Maybelline fit me tinted moisturizer (blotchy, doesn’t work, doesn’t layer on products well)
Rare beauty cream blush (blended away, I tried many methods)
Flower beauty cream blush (blended away no matter how much I layered or technique )
Elf liquid highlighter (way to oily and glittery)
Oh the dissapointment of shoddy make up products! I had this with Garnier's BB cream - Anti-aging skin perfector. Awful, gloopy, thick, streaky mess! And wasn't cheap either *outside US. Such a let down.
Appreciate you doing this video. Nice to hear what to avoid. Had only two real disappointments this year: the Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation - I'm certain they have changed the formula. Have purchased a few years ago and really liked it. Found it almost sticky and hard to blend. Also heard so much about the LA Girl Eyeliners, tried Glide Eyeliner in Metallic Copper. Performs poorly, skips while applying, color not impressive.

I bought the L'Oreal La Palette Nude Intense in the #112 colors. They look so pretty in the pan and I thought I'd really like them. Not so much. The colors just kinda muddy together. I am so disappointed in this palette. Otherwise, I really love L'Oreal makeup. Maybe the colors are better suited for a warmer complexion, which I do not have. I have dark brown hair with silver bling and green eyes. I gravitate more towards purples/cool tones. Sigh...oh well. I sometimes will use the palette if I'm just going to run a quick errand and want some color on my eyes. Zabrena, thanks for sharing products that didn't work for you! I clean my brushes and sponges with micellar water, any cheap drugstore brand works just fine! First I soak them a bit with micellar water to melt the makeup and then I wash them with mild soap and warm water and leave them to air dry. Good as new! No need to purchase expensive 'cleaners' which do nothing. And by the way, I hated the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation MATTE because the texture of the product is really weird, it looked very cakey on my skin and didn't last at all.
For me the nyx brow snatch is God sent because I have no brows but I need it with a thin pencil like the urban decay brow blade but I find I go through it so quickly
I had an even worse experience with the Elf putty bronzers. I bought the lightest shade (very cool toned) to use as a contour shade but even though I’m about as fair as you, I couldn’t get it to even show up on my skin! It blended away instantly! I got determined and bought darker shades and they blend away too! I’m not going to go fighting to get these to show up on my face anymore. I mean sheesh. What a waste of $$.😏Luckily they weren’t that expensive but still…a waste is a waste! Very frustrating to say the least.
Putty bronzer and blushes looked like my skin was coming off in places, just so bad! I've never tried something that odd looking makeup wise usually if I don't like a product it is preference thing, but I think these were straight up formulated bad, gonna try the milani cream blushes and the undone beauty blushes next
Shine Loud on a Mission liquid lipstick was a huge disappointment. Someone said it was a dupe for Chanel duel ended lipstick. Now that I have both I can tell that NYX is not a dupe for Chanel. It was so crumbly on my lips and made a ring around my mouth and did not say on. Mess.
I use the matte fit me a lot with the pore filling primer by Nyx. shade 118 and gorgeous. I also thew away the stupid tent. I do not like most drug store. I do also do a cringe worthy no to the ELF primmer?? Why anyone likes it is they must be young. I also think Miani anything is bad. I like the lipstick tho. I alos really dont understand skin tent. The Maybelline was terrible I agree. I am also 60 with olive undertones the shades were so sad.
