J.R.'s honesty and integrity is unquestionable and unmatchable. Ross may not be telling the entire truth here due to the sensitive nature of his then-job (Senior VP of Talent Relations), but he's not a liar or a fudger.
@statlerbrotherfan No. John Laurinitis is the one who took the position after J.R., he still works for WWE, and 'hosts' many various things still.. I would say it is like a 'Legends Contract' for non-wrestlers.. pretty much ..
if you listen carefully at the end, michael obviously asks him something to do with his future or something, cos ross says 'i've hired john laurintis....i'm sorting groom him'
The notion that JR is the best announcer ever is not automatic. I always really enjoyed Monsoon, Ventura and Heenan. JR is great but those others mentioned were awesome too in their own right. McMahon was a good announcer too.
at 3:13 we will see that retirement match for austin at wrestlemania 25, it would be cool if it was against the undertaker. (or hogan which is highly unlikely, or the rock)
not really my comment to begin with but, JR is the lovable commentator that a big wwe show wouldn't be the same without. think big show, who do you want to voicing it...Micheal Cole? Mike Tenay? Don West? Tony Shivoni? Taz? Todd Grisham? Nope, JR and the King Jerry Lawler...
You're stating a plain a simple fact that no one could reasonably argue with, however I don't think you can account for the amount of pride that he has as a performer. Some might bring up the big pay day he had for WrestleMania 19, but if he wasn't so driven to be acknowledged as the very best to lace up the boots, surely money couldn't compete with having a quality of life after wrestling.
@f9hunter you can totally tell he was raised with good manners in a bit of an oldschool fashion, which is great. I suppose that's why they call him Good Ol' JR. He's just an all around good guy.
not anymore tho, since TSN's deal with WWE has expired about 1-2 years ago. So no more WWE wrestlers comin to OTR oh well the ride was good while it lasted.
I like Landsberg too, but I disagree with the notion that he "understands the business." I don't think he'd even agree with that statement. He's an outsider looking in just like the rest of us, and he wants to deliver the goods and get the most out of his interviewee. That's why he's bashed so much for dominating conversations - there's just so much to discuss and he's trying to cram as much content as possible into a relatively small window.
@ChaostheClown Not judging a man but, I lived in Westville High in Okla. And have known him for years and he is a major pervert and I mean more than regular stuff, I mean strange.
This Dr Youngblood has got to be the worst Doctor in history. He sent all these guys back with the following advice. Edge, he’s ok, good to go. Gets injured years later, goes back, doctor says you can’t wrestle anymore. A decade later, Edge sees a different doctor and has a procedure and is cleared and makes a major multi year, full time comeback. Chris Benoit was given a clean bill of health to return, everything in his brain looks fine. Need I say more about that one? We’d be here for hours talking about the insanity of that diagnosis. Stone Cold, almost paralyzed for good. Doctor says he’s good to go and should be fine. Three years later he’s having to retire early from crippling pain and injuries and right now he can’t even fully extend his arms because of his spine, and has never wrestled again, unlike most. Kurt Angle gets seen by this guy, and his diagnosis was specifically as JR just said, “Well, it and his limbs can’t get any worse.” Kurt comes back, wrestled for 10 more years and was only held together physically because of pain killers. Also, that whole “his limbs can’t get any worse” thing? Kurt’s arm is so atrophied it looks like something out of science fiction where his entire arm got aged 100 years into the future and he has what looks like zero muscularity in his biceps or triceps. Their other doctor in Alabama, Dr Andrews is probably the best sports injury surgeon and consultant on the planet during his time. He worked miracles on Hunter getting him back in 9 months from a quad injury where your whole quadricep muscle snaps and rolls all the way up your thigh. A 9 month recovery time that normally takes 12-16 months, on top of the kind of shape Hunter was in is basically a modern day miracle. Triple H came back in the Royal Rumble in the best physical shape of his life, he never looked better than he did that night. Go see for yourself. He did work on Vince when he tore BOTH quads simultaneously and within a year or so, Vince famously had some of the most insane pictures taken on the cover of Muscle and Fitness at the age of around 60. Obviously the quad thing with Nash is a meme, but he never tore it or had major issues with it again from 02’ or whenever it happened until this very day. Bottom line, whoever hired their orthopedic doctor deserves a medal. Whoever hired their neuro specialist and kept allowing these wrestlers to keep using him from failure after failure should be thrown in prison. If it’s the same guy who hired on both, they say genius and madness are two sides of the same coin. 😂
J.R is badass, he rules as comennator I'd like to see him come back and I'd like to see an actual heel commentator king or paul heyman instead of that insult to commentators michael cole
...the US it's healthier days financially were moral or sensible. Like how well WWII helped stimulate our economy and more or less turned the country around completely...Canada hasn't had many instances like that on such a grand scale, and hence, hasn't really dealt with the controversy the US has. Again, I don't think either is right or wrong, but that's my opinion on the difference. America is actually sort of like the WWF...great periods of success amidst less fortunate periods in time
let's be honest, it's not really fair to compare American and Canadian economics. Canada has certainly had it's good times, but hasn't quite "flourished" the way the US has in the past. The thing is, America is always fluxuating between boom periods and depressions (which vary in strength/severity), whereas Canada has always enjoyed a certain degree of stability. And it's not really fair to say either is right or wrong, unless you were debating whether or not the things that brought...
Didn't know Ol Jim Ross was a fan of Trish I'm ugly as fuck and I can't wrestle Stratus. So that's why she was pushed over much better wrestlers like Victoria. Not to mention a helluva a lot better looking.
@Celinancc1701 @Celinancc1701 never said what he did but that was most likly what happened she was 14 at the time that why vince dnt want put him on hof
REALLY?LOL!!!!!!!!!WE ALL HAVE OUR OPINIONS AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES THIS FEATURE ON THESE VIDEOS SO GREAT,I RESPECT YOUR OPINION YET I LAUGH AT LAWLER MATTERING ON MIC,HEENAN AND MONSOON TOGETHER ,THE VERY BEST EVER FOR PURE ENJOYMENT,MOST AGREE,IF YOU WANTED AN EDUCATION,OR TO SIT UNDER THE LEARNING TREE AS BOTH MONSOON AND ROSS HAVE SAID THE EXACT TERM,YOUR GO TO GUY IS MR ROSS,MONSOON VERY INTELLIGENT ASWELL AS FAR AS WHATS GOING ON BUT OFTEN IN THE STRAIGHT MAN ROLE TO HEENANS COMEDY.

the interviewer gets alot of crap for interupting, and ofcourse that's a bad thing but he is really on of the few interviewrs that asks very thought out qouestions
You really wanna shake things up WWE? Bring back Victoria & Madusa as her manager, bring in the Beautiful People , especially Angelina Love, & keep Trish Stratus & Mickie James off TV. If you wanna bring a woman back, bring Lita back. Then your audience might care. Trish fucking Stratus? Nobody gives a shit.
im not one hundered percent sure jr is completley trustable. He is kindof like vinces lapdog, paul on the other hand has no reason not to tell the truth.
Terrific interview, RIP Jan Ross
Jim Ross. Class Act.
Sums him up.

THE AUSTIN ERA HAS BEGUN I LOVE JR !!!!!!!!
JR is THE voice of wrestling period
OHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A MOMENT!!!
The Best Hands Down.
Michael Landsberg doing his best Ron Burgundy impersonation at 4:21
"Smackdown! ......... s'mores?"
"I'm Ron....Burgundy?"
JR seems like a guy that'd be fun to just sit down, have a beer with, and watch football or baseball or something.
Is it just me or could anyone else see JR doing Monday Night Football? He did very well for the XFL when it was going!
J.R.'s honesty and integrity is unquestionable and unmatchable. Ross may not be telling the entire truth here due to the sensitive nature of his then-job (Senior VP of Talent Relations), but he's not a liar or a fudger.
Did you find them? I would like to find them all again...
J.R is a fucking legend!
JR isnt just going to work each day, he IS the work each day.
madden of wrestling....I like it! I'll use it!
great job jr ..thx
"Beautiful items" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Anybody Else Noticed At The End, You Can Hear J.R. Say "I Hired John Laurinitus, We're Grooming Him For My Job" ?
@statlerbrotherfan No. John Laurinitis is the one who took the position after J.R., he still works for WWE, and 'hosts' many various things still.. I would say it is like a 'Legends Contract' for non-wrestlers.. pretty much ..
I agree

Is J. R. still part of WWE as V.P. talent Relations?
Sounds like 2003.
@f9hunter you can totally tell he was raised with good manners in a bit of an oldschool fashion, which is great. I suppose that's why they call him Good Ol' JR. He's just an all around good guy.
Still waiting for Steve Austin’s last match lol
not anymore tho, since TSN's deal with WWE has expired about 1-2 years ago. So no more WWE wrestlers comin to OTR oh well the ride was good while it lasted.
Can't judge a book by its cover.
Vince can learn a thing or two.

JR's very pubicly differed from Vince on a NUMBER of issues.
OTR has had alot of wrestlers on the show and even though the host can be a bit of a douche at times they are still pretty good interviews.
im telling you guys go to pwi top 500 wrestlers hardly any of them make sense its definetly not ring skills like i thought must be popularity check it out
I like Landsberg, but I'd have to admit he talks alot, perhaps he should ask a little less question and let the guests talk a bit more.
Nooo..... People respect JR
the interviewer gets alot of crap for interupting, and ofcourse that's a bad thing but he is really on of the few interviewrs that asks very thought out qouestions

@P3nnybags GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!
i wish he'd get some bad ass no nonsense kinda guy on there who, as soon as he got nterupted....just got up and smoked landsberg on the nose.
How about that guy that slapped the reporter in the 80s for calling wrestling fake? Lol
if they really cared they would have held kurt out.
im not one hundered percent sure jr is completley trustable. He is kindof like vinces lapdog, paul on the other hand has no reason not to tell the truth.
I dont know about that. Hes lied and cheated his way before. Theres no such thing as an honest man in wrestling.
Jim will tell you himself solie was better
jeeezus, adam landsberg is terrible... who the hell gave this guy a show?
