Appreciate y'all having me! 🙏🏾🙌🏾
PJ, THANK YOU for this interview and allowing us to be apart of your gift!!!
@pjmorton You're a LEGEND, Thank you for pulling up!!!
YOU HAVE TO know you also have a "cult" following?? ... so does Tank... lol ❤️ ya'll! Can't wait for ya'll to do an ultimate LOVE SONG together... like First Began but with Tank's shirt off...
I’m on the Stevie Wonder conversation part 😂you did a good job avoiding the land mines. I saw what he showed me” 😭 Not taking a buck naked call from the legend. 😂😂😂
Great interview.. Thank you from a fan. 👏🏽
PJ is definitely a combination of Stevie, Donnie and Marvin..... one of our quintessential R&B kings!!
SoTrue
100%!
Nope disagree
Maybe there’s something I don’t know, but I find it amazing that every guest has had some positive origin story on how they’ve met Tank years ago. Speaks to this guys character. ✊🏿
That's the whet holy spirit attracts the whet holy spirit in my book.
I noticed that too….
You guys have the perfect formula. Please Do Not ever include a studio audience. It will kill the vibe. It truly feels like I'm listening to Artist engaging in personal/intimate conversations. Thank you for providing us with a platform that we didn't even know we needed.
I recently let a guy I was dating hear "Better Benediction," and he didn't like it. It was at that moment I knew his un-seasoned self wasn't the one. 😆
"If they counted you out......they can't count"........🙌
@@patrickmiller721 Bars!!
😂😂😂
The way I hollered at your comment 😂
Nice! 😂😂
The way Tank holla'd out CINNAMON!!! It was the head tilt 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 yeah he felt that!!!
😂😂😂
Ain’t they stoopid? 😂😂😂
Can I just say, I howl everytime at Tank's introduction..It seems to get louder each week...🤣🤣😂
... especially when he's excited. Cause why u yelling at us like that???? 😂😂😂
"THEEE AUTHORITY" lol
He has hearing difficulties.
Once again, Tank and J Valentine never disappoints on the guests...PJ Morton is a jack of all trades from Maroon 5 to his solo career and producing. I'm all in for another great podcast. 😉
Facts!!!!
You can tell Tank and J are good friends. They crack up too much or they give each other the look when they about to crack jokes. 😂
“Next time bring a Grammy, so we can at least see one in person. I got a certificate. I ain’t even got that…” Y’all are comedy gold!😂🏆
Shout out to Bishop Morton...a real one🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was like how Tank didn’t know
Tank & J didn't have a clue who the great Bishop Paul S. Morton was. Wow!
WOW!! Really 🤷🏽♀️How they didn’t know who his Father was
My favorite part so far - PJ thought the tour bus was going to church on Sunday on the Badu tour.. J. Valentine, “Can I get a window 🪟 seat?” 😫😫😫😫
I hollered!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 j. valentine’s quick-wit is pretty impressive lol
I screamed J is a fool 😂
Beautiful interview- I definitely can sense that PJ spends a lot of time with himself & breathes the introverted language ❤️ J. Valentine hit the nail on the head with this one though when he said r&b changed when grandma's stopped making children or grandchildren go to church 🔥🔥🔥
Facts
THIS! It’s like the light dimmed in R&B.
Right!!!!!
Cuz listen if we being real the core and origin of R&B comes from the good Lord!
@@faithbylatrice ha ! Amen
Somebody give Tank his album of the year Grammy please....😆😆
Another awesome show!👏🏾👏🏾
Yo y'all need to get Dave Hollister soon....a true 90s great!
Yasssss For Dave Hollister 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Oh yes!!!!
This episode was incredible @R&B Money Podcast. PJ is a Godsend! His music helped me through these last few years in a major way. His writing skills are top notch and his musicianship is immaculate. I didn’t know until listening to the Gospel According to PJ that he couldn’t read music but he had that true ear. That’s one of the hardest ways to learn music, and nothing but the anointing and God’s plan for his life. A true prodigy and one of the best writers of modern day r&b, gospel, and soul. I have too many favorites, but My Peace truly helped me to get through the past year. 🥹. This podcast has been the best experience from it’s inception. I can’t brag about y’all enough. It never lets me down. Thanks for all you do ❤ 💸💸
You Da Best !!!
Same for me.. "my peace", was my peace lol
"Not the love of my life! Not MY Cinnamon!!" I rewatched that part about 5 times and laughed hard each time like they did 🤣😄😂
Pj is built different. Blessings to him
The fact that Tank just goes from talking into randomly playing the keyboard and breaking into song. He low key playing around but the vocals are still really good!!
God bless all 3 of these gentleman and their endeavors
Awesome interview! Now it's time for ya'll to interview Lalah Hathaway. She mentioned on Sherri Shephard's show no one talks to her, she just sings...I think that would be a great interview. Much love to your podcast.
I agree 💯💯💯I would love to hear them interview Lalah Hathaway
Yes Lalah hathaway
PJ needs to do a live album documentary called "The Travels of PJ Morton." Shout-out to J. Valentine for the suggestion.
The whole Stevie can see always sends me. Him face timing people and being about the jokes makes me love it and him even more. 😂
Let go....let God.
That song blessed me!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I didn't know he wrote that. Definitely one of my favorite Gospel songs.
"That can't be the love of _my_ life..." 🤣🤣
Between my biblical studies..Some names popped in my head as recommendations for future interviews.
• Isley Brothers
• Smokie Robinson
• Eddie Levert
• Lionel Richie
• Charlie Wilson
• El DeBarge
Yes!!! All of these please!!!
Wow this is a tremendous list.
Great list!
Love that list. Can I add:
Warryn Campbell
Faith Evans
SWV
Esther Dean
Toni Braxton
The Dream
This lineup is one of kind!
Didn’t know he was from New Orleans 🎉 there right now! 🥰 side note: shoutout to P.J.’s dad and parents who support their child’s artistry. 🙌🏾
His collabs with Jo and Yebba are my favorites! The Top 5 intro is back, lol!!! Love it!! Amazing list!
16:15 original dream to be in a band
20:45 💎brilliance in the basics; when you return to your roots
24:28 E. Badu live experiences🔥🔥🔥. PJ LIVE is a whole experience every single time too

46:55 if you HAVE NOT been to a PJ Morton show, what are you waiting for? At the VERY least watch one online. You WILL NOT be disappointed
1:04:50 can Stevie see me?👀
1:20:15 learn the business before outsourcing
I hope he understands he has a cult following too... because we outchea!!
@@txzbelle75 when he acknowledged how he plans the same venues as acts with a larger record company bc WE out here reppin'! He knows🙌🏾
Greg Phillinganes would be an interesting guest. He's been THE keyboardist for Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan & Quincy + many more. and he's hilarious so I'm sure it would be great!
😂😂😂 "Stevie going to punch Tank." this podcast has me hollering J. Valentine and Tank are hilarious.... This was good, love Pj Morton good choice
We need a Part 2 with PJ…..love him and his spirit ❤
Ever since I heard PJ’s “Live from LA”, he’s been one of my faves. Over 60% of my vinyl collection is this guy’s records. The fact that I’m still learning about this guy is inspiring even the more
THE STEVIE WONDER THEORIES AND STORY HAD ME CRYING WITH LAUGHTER AT 59:26 TILL 1:07:31 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now I need some RnB Money Merchandise
OTW
This podcast is everything for me personally. As a real fan of R&B these interviews are so inspiring. Keep em coming.
Will do!
Man I CANT WAIT TIL YALL GET STEVIE WONDER ON THE PODCAST!!!!!!
That will be Legendary 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tank and Cinnamon 😂😂😂, a love story for the ages. Can we get cinnamon on the podcast because we need to hear her side ( no disrespect to Zena I’m a wife too, but a viewer first). Not Valentine with the Hennessy inside the future Grammy. Yal are plum fools, I tell you 😂😂😂😂.
This has got to be one of their best and funniest podcasts ever!!!😂
Another EXCELLENT episode! I laughed so hard. I cannot wait for that Stevie Wonder episode to manifest. 💛
All of it dope, but between the stripper segment with Tank and the Stevie Wonder segment, that shit was the BEST!!! I'm over here dying.....
We not gonna ignore the "forever and Ever" note Tank hit 😜👑🔥🔥🔥🔥
Watching these episodes each week is like watching multiple mini movie clips of the artist story...... From the beginning, middle...and current....The hustle is real..... 🤣😂... Y'all took your mother pink purple and white ministry church bus to get to where u had to go...😂🤣.. To see the ppl faces that was standing outside waiting to go in😂🤣😂🤣they were probably like WTH is going on here😂🤣😂 Are we at the rt spot 😂🤣😂 Got to love the hustle...Love this podcast 😆💖🙌🏽... Keep this going .... By the way I like the studio background behind the artists.... Another great one..PJ Morton #E-32
His admonition for Beatles makes sense as to why he would take that maroon 5 gig. PJs journey is special. 1 of 1 even
Ok Tank and J Valentine....I see y'all!🖤
PJ dropping real business knowledge👍🏾
PJ! Will you assist with getting India.Arie on here as well??!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Absolutely AMAZING interview and knowledge dropped! Truly a gifted musician, artist and singer...PJ MORTON is the TRUTH!! Keep it going R&B Money Podcast!! You two deserve ALL the AWARDS!!
Thanks for listening
Tank and J. Valentine are hilarious on the sidelines with interviews 😂😂😂😂.. PJMorton is awesome I did not realize is with Maroon 5. I love them such a soulful style band 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church uptown when PJ was a teen on the keys. He is not lying. He used to be improvising. I have been following him since as a fan of his art. I have never missed a PJ concert when he was in my town. Always phenomenal.
When you are a business person you have to make sure those who you are responsible for eat before you. Being a boss comes with a lot of sacrifice that often isn't spoken of publicly.
“You live in the hood but it’s close to the nice houses” 🤣🤣🤣 J!!!!!!
“You trying to die tonight?” Me: “No…no I put my ground beef on the counter for tacos tonight.” I’m dead…that “I ain’t saying no names” is only second to Kosine’s third story ”with him!” I love this podcast. Good job fellas!
It's going to be hard to beat kosine's and probably jammie's but this a close second 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When I tell you, my pillow is wet, and the nose is stuffed up from crying and laughing thru this whole episode. YOOOOO!! HILARIOUS is an understatement. This was so funny. Yall sum fools, I thoroughly enjoyed PJ. Love his music. First Began!! 🙌🙌. It just gets better and better w each episode. Who next?? 💞
Every time I think I have a favorite episode, they come with yet another one! Great job guys! Please keep it going. We need this! The homage you all pay to the gospel greats (Commissioned) is very necessary.
I love that " rnb stopped when grandma's stopped making kids go to church" !!now its rapping most the album and snapping as production
I am making my way through these interviews, but I think this one may be my favorite so far. Love, love, love PJ! His concerts are 🔥🔥🔥Thanks for this. 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it!
"R&B music changed when grandma's stopped making these babies go to church".......TRUEST STATEMENT EVER, and from a man that proclaims he wasn't raised in nor around the church. So his statement speaks VOLUMES!!!! LOVE THIS QUOTE
Okay now hear me out... Y'all should do an album called "Church and Cadillacs" where you have current r&b songs inspired by Gospel and the "Cadillac" songs featuring some of the artists that have been on the show
I have been randomly yelling "cinnamon" throughout the week! This was my second favorite episode. So much knowledge. Very appreciative of this conversation.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I don't think I've laughed this hard watching an interview in a long time! Love PJ's music and love what you all are doing with this podcast. Sign me up as a live audience member!
J Valentine is absolutely right about when kids stopped going to church, that's when r&b changed. I've been saying this for years. For most r&b singers, that's where they used to get their training.
PJ is a musical genius and will be named along with the greats. I enjoyed every minute of this interview. 💐💐
I agree 💯💯
The comedy on this episode, "You goin K%^& me...U goin do it." Breaking down the architecture of the act. I was laughing so hard. PJ is legendary. The gift is apparent. Love this episode.
They should’ve had him text Stevie to see if he would text back “I saw your text, what’s up” 😂😂😂😂😂
Love that y’all brought him on!
I absolutely love when they burst out in song throughout the interview ❤
Yooo when J. Valentine asked PJ if Stevie FT’ed him to say: “Do you see what I see?” I legit started screaming 🤣🤣😂
So many gems in this episode for those of us at an artistic crossroad. The "hit life" comment and church conversation was definitely for me. PJ's pathway into music and being friends with Stevie Wonder is divine. He's one of the chosen keepers of Stevie's sound and songwriting, and Tank and J. are the chosen storytellers. Bravo Gents!
Bishop Paul S Morton is a Legend and he and his wife created a Legend ❤
I love the joking around and laughter ❤❤❤
Pj representing my state Louisiana stand up ⬆️ so very proud of this dude man. A true gem in this business 💯 continued success to him, and the R&B money podcast. This show has become the highlight of my week 🙌🏾
J you going to hell on that comment, "can you see what I see"😂😂😂
Once a month at least, I listen to Go thru your phone. PJ is a gift. This podcast is what we never knew we needed. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
R&B Money plus PJ Morton.... This is GOLDEN❤💯🎼🎶🎶🎵🎵🎹🎹🎹🎤🎧
The first 7.5 minutes 😂 y’all crazy
This is my favorite episode already♥️
I'm watching now, its growing on me! You can sense the genuine love that these brothers have for one another!
PJ Morton Sr is an anointed pastor, singer and man of God. Welp, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree because PJ Morton Jr is the same. Thank y'all for this interview. 🙏🏿
PJ feels like a favorite cousin throughout this episode. Understanding of life but not judging or messy. Great interview
J. Valentine’s laugh. Omggggg… 😩😂😂😂😂😂😂 His laugh has me bent. 😭😭😭
Fr PJ was one of the best concerts I'd been to in over 20+ yrs. It was an experience
The chokehold that Gumbo Unplugged has had me in for years!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I loooovvvvveeee PJ Morton!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
PJ, built different. Man of integrity, he made sure his band was eatin'
1:14:45, the kind of laughs I need! 😂😂 Repeated several times 😂😂😂
Genius!!!❤
Put me in TEARS.
Tank Killin ‘em on the keyboard at the end- he Playin around and still slayin it! This episode will have you hollerin’ AND for students of music- it’s gonna put you on to some stuff👌🏽 Thank you Tank and J Valentine 👌🏽💫🙌🏽
I had no clue who this guy was until now but I know everything about his daddy THE Bishop Paul Morton!! He has had some of the best sermons in gospel history, created a new denomination (or something like that) PLUS he can sang!! PJ has legendary all in his blood!
Bishop Morton is his dad???!!?? How TF didn’t I put this together? Wow. Makes so much sense ❤
Right
7 minutes in and I’m in tears from laughing… I love these episodes.
I used to go see Algebra at the Loews hotel love music series.
And Apache was the perfect vibe in Atlanta.
This was a great episode....I'm a huge fan of PJs..he is so humble and talented.
This interview was too jokes! Tank & J Valentine need to get all 4 members of Jodeci on here next!
PJ!!!!⚜️ This was sooo good! He was my sister's high school choir director. Still humble and Uber talented.
PJ Morton! Simply put I LOVED IT. PJ Morton might have been the first to list DeBarge in their top 5. I think El DeBarge would be a good guest with awesome stories.
The way I hollered when he asked "Are any of the bases going to church! Badu bus
Then, J. Valentine said, “Can I get a window 🪟 seat?!?!” 😂😂😂
The Stevie part takes me down every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"I'll drop you off, I'll pick you up" LMAOO
I've had somebody threaten to kill me before.
Tank - That's exciting (almost in a whisper)
😂😂😂😂 why are you like this?
J. Valentine is crazzzzy. "Is one of the Badu buses going to church."😅😅😅 You know they ain't going, maaannn....
Commissioned needs to be a guest!! Individually they all need to get their flowers❤❤❤
I knew by how it started this was going to be another good one! Man oh man, the laughs I had. Whewww! Keep up the good work guys! ♥️ PJ, his story, his drive, & vibe. His concerts are "an experience"!
Pj is definitely that dude!! 👏🏾
“The money might not come back.” - J. Valentine “It will take some years, if it’s real.” - PJ Morton
📝 Amen ✍🏾✨💕
Love that he mentioned Johntá Austin. Cheers - 😎
