  • Shlomo Sand was born in Linz, Austria, to Polish Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. His cultural background was grounded in Yiddish culture. His father, having taken an aversion to rabbis, abandoned his Talmudic studies at a yeshiva and dropped attendance at synagogues.[2] Both his parents had Communist and anti-imperialist views and refused to accept compensation from Germany for their suffering during the Second World War. Sand spent his first two years in a displaced-persons camp near Munich, and moved with the family to Jaffa in 1948. He was expelled from high school at the age of sixteen.[3][4] According to one interview, "Sand spent the late 1960s and early 1970s working a series of odd jobs, including several years as a telephone lineman." He completed his high-school work at age 25 and spent three years in the military.[5] The Six Day War, in which he served, "pushed him towards the radical left."[5] Quitting the Union of Israeli Communist Youth (Banki), he joined the more radical, and anti-Zionist, Matzpen in 1968. He resigned from Matzpen in 1970 due to his disillusionment with the organisation.[3][6][7]
Declining an offer by the Israeli Maki Communist Party to be sent to do cinema studies in Poland, Sand graduated with a BA in History from Tel Aviv University in 1975. Determined to "abandon everything" Israeli,[8] he moved to France, where, from 1975 to 1985, after winning a scholarship, he studied and taught in Paris, receiving an MA in French History and a PhD for his thesis on "Georges Sorel and Marxism."[9] Since 1982, Sand has taught at Tel Aviv University as well as at the University of California, Berkeley, and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris.[1]
In 1983, according to one source, Sand "took part in a heated exchange over Zeev Sternhell's Ni droite, ni gauche: l’idéologie fasciste en France, and later drew the ire of Claude Lanzmann with his 2002 book in Hebrew, Film as History, in which he not only passed scathing judgement on Lanzmann's Shoah, but also revealed that the film had been secretly funded by the Israeli government."

Shlomo Sand appears to be the most prominent Jewish intellectual in Israel; to the extent that throughout his public life he adhered to the ethics of his profession as a reliable and credible historian. His implacable rigor with which he exercises his profession and his astonishing courage to defend the truth give him an unrivaled aura throughout the world. For this, he is highly respected in circles of Arab intellectuals. For example, he was not afraid to publicly reveal that he had searched every library in the West to find a single history book discussing the forced expulsion of Jews from Palestine two thousand years ago; alas he found nothing of the sort. Therefore, such a hunt for Jews never took place, but it is purely a lie of Zionist propaganda to deceive world opinion. During a televised tête-à-tête with Mayer Habib a few years ago, Shlomo Sand ridiculed his opponent by accusing him of his dual nationality, saying "you want two states; a state where you work and a state for your well-deserved vacation..." Bravo Shlomo Sand for your clarity of mind and hats off to your activism with a human and humanist face

Sand was a professor of Film History and qualified to critique Jewish The Three Stooges, nothing else. Maybe he's the fourth!

Please comment on the evidenced argument, not on one of its proponents. As you know, that's what rational people are interested in.

Sand is telling the truth, the current Jews who are rich and glutenous are not the Ancient Hebrews

@@marlonellison8964 50% of Jews in the USA live below the poverty level. Does that qualify them as descendants of the Ancient Hebrews? Your statement belies your subscription to antisemitic stereotypes.

@@DEANMBLAKE not everyone fits the string of 400 years of curses, only one group of people fit that.
      Genesis 15:13
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years
Being poor is not exclusive to one group but touches all.
Mark 14:7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
You need to account for slavery, oppression, lost identity for 400 years no other ethnic groups experienced that except black people aka African Americans which is not a race but a lazy way of identifying dark skin people. There are no exceptions to the curse no one else fits the bill for the last 400 years except African Americans.
If you don't believe that, than Yah himself will convince you when he returns

@@marlonellison8964 Derivitive argument of that discredited book "Black Athena". Who among you are Kohens among Blacks? . Where is your tradition of Hebrew language? Your rabbi's? Marked cemeterys? ArcheologicaL evidence? Historical record in gentile texts? Not there.
You are an advocate of replacement theology. You want to be the heir to G-d's blessing without earning it. You want Lutheran/Calvinist ' grace' .
There is nothing free in life, not even The Blessing. Get your own and leave mine alone w/o your disparage nets.
